First off, This is not a Suggestion thread; It's a discussion one.
So, yeah, would you like if notch implemented shears to the game?
They would be crafted like this:
[]
[] []
[]
Where cobblestone is the material you want it to be.
Wooden has a 60% chance to drop a wool block
Cobblestone always drops a wool block
Iron always drop 2-3 wool blocks
Diamond always drop 3-4 wool blocks
Discuss, and please, say why you dislike/like/don't care. Thanks.
EDIT: Maybe it can be used to cut leaves faster, or for retrieving topiary blocks.
I honestly think you left it one link short. There is no tool that rapidly breaks wool blocks once placed. This would be the perfect implement for that.

Perhaps it allows for more wool to drop?, But eh I don't use axes so I wouldn't care.

As you can see in my first post, diamond ones get you 4-5 wool blocks, and wooden ones have a 60% chance thus making it more difficult to gather wool at the begging, thus making it harder to make a bed at the start
These should be used to make leaves a removable item - as in you can get and place without inventory hacking. I don't really think there would be any use other than aesthetics, but it would be overall very useful.
EDIT: Ninja'd

Building legit is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see what you've done, but you're the only one who feels the warmth. Is it worth it?

Ooh, I like this one.
And I believe there is (or was) a small mod that actually added this very item, though with slightly different functionality (If I remember correctly, it's entire point was to cut leaves fast, during the time when the trees werent despawning when cut down due to a glitch).
I wouldnt mind seeing more tools in the game in general. There's too many things right now that can only be cut down faster if you use a sword. I feel a bit dopey if I'm trying to get at something like Soul Sand (or Glowstone, too...), standing in it and waving the sword around like a maniac simply because any other tool just cant do it fast.
Because when I shave my sheep with diamonds they always give me more wool then when I shave them with wood.
Well.. You can't really cut with wood so you get less wool and you get lots of wool with diamond because it's very sharp and you get to retrieve all the wool :tongue.gif:

Yeah cause I can't just instead PUNCH the sheep and have an 100 percent chance of getting 1 wool! :biggrin.gif: Maybe even 3.
Useless to include wooden if all it does is make it WORSE.

It's to add 0.01% Difficulty to the game :smile.gif: Also for making harder to make a bed at the start so you don't ruin your first night experience :biggrin.gif:

See it doesn't add difficulty to the game, at ALL. Since we can, instead of making a useless wooden shear, just punch the sheep and the item will be rendered completely useless, in fact this entire suggestion is useless/not needed.
If you're goal is to not ruin the "experience" of the first night then some shears aren't going to fix it. And by the "experience" do you mean hiding in a hole waiting for the sunrise? I don't think of that as such a great "experience"
That's the coward way to "experience" it, my first night was running from skeletons and creepers!
By the way, wooden shears make it worse because you can't punch sheep anymore

Ok, thanks i will add that :biggrin.gif:

PUNCH SHEEP: GET WOOL
PUNCH CREEPER: GET IN DEEP ****
Steve's a punching man. Realism is not accepted.
Seriously, I like punching sheep because of the lulzy feel.
Above statement is false.

... You can still do this. I don't see why you are complaining.
I am not complaining..?
Edit: Oh! i think you got the message wrong you cannot punch sheep anymore if shears are implemented
