Does anyone else refuse to play on the peaceful setting? I have to play on Normal or Hard. Even if I just want to spend time building things, I feel like cheating if there are no baddies out to get me. Maybe I am one of those people who feels like I need more of a purpose or challenge to the game, but I was just wondering if anyone else is that way.
I love Minecraft and I hope there are more game types added in future updates.
I am going too switch out of peaceful today actually! (I only used it when building stuff) because I now have a skele spawner trap and 21 diamonds. And as long as I have a Diamond sword and unlimited number of arrows, I can take all the mobs I want to.

You know, it's not that hard to fight off 2 creepers with a wooden sword. It just takes practice!
edit: I play on normal, but I may consider hard. It's not that it would be too... hard... but rather that mob health and damage would confuse me, and I may charge at a creeper intending to finish him off, only to fail to kill him, and get killed by a blast I could normally survive XD
edit2: I may actually try hard... the game did seem too easy... maybe this will add the terror again! :biggrin.gif:

I really hope this is all a joke. Otherwise I have been playing ALL WRONG.
I would sig this, but it would make no sense out of context ;_;

Spider's on, is possessive, meaning on is used as a noun in this case. What is an on?
I paid for minecraft so I could have monsters and damnit Im going to have monsters!
I didn't pay for DDO or RoM so I could fight monsters with good, well fleshed out, combat, with loads of skills and weapons.
I paid for MC so I could build stuff in a sandbox game.
I don't think anyone bought MC to just fight monsters. I like mining/building knowing that mobs pose a threat. I dunno, I was just curious how others play the game.
I did tried peaceful on a world that I used solely for building/testing stuff, and it quickly got boring. I guess the fact that I found 2 dungeons and felt a bit "cheatey" clearing them that way didn't helped either…
I play on peaceful all the time. For me Minecraft is for building things.
If I want to kill monsters I'll play one of the other fifty million games out there with monsters... most with better monsters and better weapons. From the perspective of a "monster fighting game" minecraft sucks, but as a creative sandbox game, minecraft is awesome.
Really, fighting monsters in video games?.... that is so "been there, done that"
There is more to video games than fighting monsters, way more.

I like the mobs, but we play peaceful on our server because you have so little control over the spawning. I think mobs are cool, but when your building something and have 3 or 4 creepers hit you one after another it gets just stupid. Their needs to be better control or some way to keep mobs away to a degree. Torches help but thats not the best answer either. Until then use a mod.
I play exclusively on Peaceful, because I don't use mods, and Creepers are the dickiest of **** moves. When there's not a chance of stuff I spent time building getting blown all to hell, I'll switch to a different difficulty level.
No, I don't "refuse" to play on peaceful. Sometimes I play on peaceful. Sometimes I play with the the funny bouncing zombies (etc) too.
However, for me, the Minecraft combat is pretty clumsy and unsatisfying so I increasingly play on peaceful. The monsters aren't scary and don't really pose a threat, merely an annoyance most of the time. If I want combat in a game, I play something else that does it better. That's not what MC is for me.
I wonder how many times this question has been asked?
Thats kind of how I am as well. I see the monsters as more of an annoyance than a "challenge" I either play on peaceful or once and a while normal.
Combat gets boring and repetitive with the few weapons and mobs there are.
Besides, it's horribly inconvenient to, for example, be ambushed by a Creeper when building.
I simply switch up to Easy when I want mob drops.

Personally I play on normal but used to play on peaceful when building in a forest because morning creeper checks were a pain.
