Hey guys, i was wondering what the vast majority of minecrafters choose to hide in during their first night fall, are you say, a coal miner all the way and hide in your mine? or do you craft a wooden/sand/dirt shack(me) or perhaps you have a tree house? that is what I want to find out, Tell me below and show roughly what it looks like.

Me: Holy Dooly i just divided by zero
Friend :realy, how?
Me:because using intergers makes divide backward times thing equalys same answer-
Friend: yeah...
me:0x18=0 therefore 18 divided by 0 equals 0
Friend: shut up Isaac
I have a bad habit of not continuing through the first night if I don't find a decent cavern I can seal off to the outside world, and slowly create a fortress within during the nights.
So much like the above posters I suppose, though it varies depending where the cavern is.
So far it seems most people cower in a hole, and some cower out to sea while not many cower in a shack.

The first few minutes of my first night were spent in a tiny indentation in a mountain that I blocked off. Soon enough, I got bored, ran out of there, got mauled by a spider, and ran up the side of a cliff. Soon after that, a creeper started jumping to get me. Keep in mind, this is far before I knew they could explode. Once again, I got bored of just sitting there. I spent the rest of that night on the move. I still remember running towards a pack of zombies, almost having a heart attack, and then watching them burn to death.
Good times...

Depends, ussally I made somthing into the side of a moutain or hill. Sometimes if I spawn in flat land I just build a shack.

I want to save that light-I can't escape this now-Unless you show me how~
To be honest, the first shelter I ever made is the same way I make houses now. It's been the same routine for the past 8 months. Basically a 5x6x4 little hut with some wool as a carpet:

That's really all I need for a shelter. I'm exploring most of the time anyways.
It really depends on the spawn environment, but I found I usually ended up in a cave searching for coal as the last item needed for survival. Since the addition of charcoal its been more random, sometimes shacks, hillsides, hobbit holes, tree forts, just whatever is around really, no rhyme or reason.
My first shelter was already there. What I mean is I spawned my world ( named The Land with the seed: andyouandi) and walked forward. Under a cool little arch and down a hill and there is this dirt mound probably about 7 blocks high and a rough conical shape. Just dug into it and emptied it out a tint bit and voilà instant shelter. I love it.

And its hero the Conqueror Worm.
My very first shelter was a wooden box without roof and floor than grass.. then deleted that world and started a new one reading the wiki, i hollowed a mountain and turned it into my base :tongue.gif:

After that I either expand or wait until the next day to gather materials for a small bunker-house thing

Didn't work to well.
Then made a castle next to the beach with a harbor for exploring.
