What do you hate the most? Personally I find SMP very fun, almost more fun than SSP, but there are a lot of problems.
I hate
1. When your server admin doesn't have the server up. Your're right in the middle of a huge project, and the server is down.
2. People noob around. You build a base, and they have to come and build a fail one right next to it. That's why I claimed a whole valley out of sight of the rest of the spawn.
I also the think the admin teleporting thing is a bummer, it would much more fun for you to be able to have a secret base nobody knows about.
1. Lag. Even in the best servers there's a delay after you hit mobs, and it just doesn't feel as smooth as single player.
2. Other than that MP is probably way better!
I agree, my server had a lot of problems with lag at first, and some people had to quit.
Theres also the annoying arrow/item flying back and forth glitch, and the gravel/sand choppy falling.
Yeah, definitely lag. It just can ruin all the fun when you get killed by an invisible skeleton shooting arrows at you and for some reason you are unable to retaliate.
The thing I hate the most is that it's not better supported. Notch claimed at one point (not sure if this is still the plan) that eventually single player would simply be a self-hosted server, meaning that there would no longer be a distinction between SSP and SMP. I can't see it happening anytime soon though as new features keep getting added to single player and not many fixes are done for SMP.
Personally, and this is just my opinion, Minecraft is a great game, but it only really shines with friends. I do really wish he'd make multiplayer viability more the focus, as it's unlikely anything will end up being broken in single player while working online.
Admins
Lag
Unless plugins
The bunches of noobs running around
Greifers
Thieves(Unless im playing a RP server)
I can go on and on, but I do like it because if I host a local one me and close friends can play together, even tho they get boring as well and me + no one else + a few creepers is always the best :biggrin.gif:

I was actually the first person to join our server, so i know the admins, and they will help me out if I ask. Though I have heard of admins griefing their own server, I never understood that.
The only thing like that that happend to me was when an admin was running around my half finished tower while I was building it, trying to get 'inspiration'. Then he build a huge diving board right over my tower so he could suicide off it, and then he tried to blow it up with TNT. Luckily I covered it with water right when he set the TNT off.
1: Lag, because it makes building and mining slow and annyoing.
2: Building a nice looking area, then people go and make dirt houses n stuff all around it.

EDIT: 900th post! :biggrin.gif:
And my server is never down thanks to dedicated hosts

But really, Griefers are the biggest.

This, exactly. Most everything else is fine (since I only play on a hardcore PVP server, greifing doesn't matter to me
much at all).

In the one server I play, I have been griefed twice. So I do my best to isolate myself from everything and everyone else.

Think of the invisible fireballs as ninja creeper attacks. Walking along when suddenly a crater appears in front of you.

in order:
1. Thieves
2. Wolves (only in multiplayer. because they suck.)
3. UGLY RANDOM DIRT PILLARS ASDFGHJKL;
The only issues I have are occasional lag and all the irritating bugs...
