Depending on how you use it, it can be considered cheating/hacking.
I don't think its a problem if it is just used to get raw materials to build something epic, however some people use it to get infinite health, unlimited uses on tools, and other things. So it really depends.

Don't feed the troll dude. And if you do, make sure it's some cheddar with rat poison in it.
What's more impressive? Someone mining a doublechest full of Mossy Cobble by hand, then making something out of it, OR Someone taking 30 seconds to hack in the same amount of Mossy, with no effort involved?
Cause people think Sandbox Games like Minecraft are SERUZ BUISSNESS BRA and that its cheating. Even though theres no such thing as cheating in a singleplayer sandbox game with no real goal but to make stuff with your 1337 block stacking skills, or push pigs off huge cliffs. I think INVedit is pretty nice to use when you wanna test out something without wasting precious materials you spent time to gather.
Basically, a large part of Minecraft is impressing other people with your creations. When you use InvEdit, anything you create becomes less impressive than if you created it legitimately. Now, if you're building some gigantic super-massive structure and you hack the materials, as long as the structure is cool enough, and you obviously had to put in some degree of work designing and building it, thats still quite impressive, though still not as much as if you had obtained all the materials the hard way. The issue is when you have people just playing around, not really building anything, but who expect other players to be impressed even though they're hacking everything they're using.
I get what you guys are saying.
Personally, I just like to build. :smile.gif: That's why I use it.
I don't really see the point of playing Minecraft normally except with invincibility.
Because this is MINEcraft. Gathering the resources used to survive and build is half the point.
I like a lot of the epic structures I have seen which have been made using INVedit resources.
But when projects are legit (no INVedit) they are far more impressive imo.
I am not against INVedit, but when making projects of my own I take pride in the hours of hard labour I performed gathering and smelting.
Time management (when do I mine, when do I build)
Resource management (do I use these 29 iron to make picks to mine faster, armor to survive easier or keep them for the steel doors/blocks I needs)
Inventory tradeoffs (Do I really need to carry this compass with me right now? Can I leave my bow and arrow behind right now for 2 extra inventory slots, how much bag space do I need to blow on carrying food? How much room can I spare so I can carry as much as I can but feel equipped to survive)
Survivability (What weapons do I have at my disposal, how well armored am I? Do I have enough health for this task? I'm running low on food should I retreat? Oh **** time to hide in a hole for the night so I don't loose my items. Is this part of the structure safe from creepers?)
Without all of these elements a building project is only 1/3 or 1/2 as impressive. Because you have only dealt with the very basics of the game to complete your tasks. The end result may appear much the same, but for my own self achievement all of these elements are vital to anything I do in the game.
The only time I ever used INVedit was when I wanted to blow my house up. I usually legitimately gather materials for "serious" builds. In fact, the only build I've ever made that can be considered "epic", my lake house, was mined and constructed without INVedit.I personally don't care.
1. Difficulty ragers will complain about anything. So they complain about people who play differently than they do.
2. "Cheating" hurts no one if used on single player.
3. Using invedit on public servers is impossible, but would be cheating if it could be done.

I am a creator. This makes me infinitely greater and more useful than any war lover.
Am I supposed to be impressed you spend a lot of time building something? I'm more impressed you designed and built it. And even if you did none of these things, what the **** do I care?
When I went off to build Sky Fortress? I pulled up INVEdit and got as much dirt and lava as I could hold, and went wild.
Then, when I got done, I found a cave and had nothing better to do. I went home, got my pick and my torches and my stuff, and went down into the cave to get my resources.
If I feel like getting my resources or making something small, that's what I'll do. If I'm building a superstructure or a building or whatever, INVEdit is my friend.
I will NOT be passing INVEdit off for my Windmill Island because some people call it cheating, it's my server and I'll do this if I want.
Psychology - the human condition - pretty much each person that 'frowns upon' using invedit has their own reasons, but stem from the type of person they are.
It depends. If somebody shows me their new 18,000 block mansion made with InvEdit? Yeah, it might be cool. But if someone is bragging about how much they own creepers when they InvEdited everything in? Naaah.
I've used InvEdit before, but only to retrieve items lost due to bugs/crashes. I haven't used it for building materials or infinite durability tools/armor, but I do feel (in single player anyway) everyone is allowed to play their own way. I am more impressed with the design of a megastructure than how the materials were collected. Of course, show me a house made entirely of diamonds you mined yourself, and I'll be really impressed
I've said it before and I'll say it now: Minecraft is glorified Legos. Playing legit is like only using the sets you buy off the shelves, whereas using InvEdit is like going to one of those specialty online Lego parts stores and buying the pieces you need in bulk. Does it REALLY make the awesome, intricate stuff less impressive?
Is just the same as
Who cares if it's legit or not if it's ****ING AWESOME?

Cheating is usually frowned upon.

Also I respect mega-builds far more if they are done legitly.

Reread everything I typed.
Did I say that I had a problem with it?
No. I'm not stopping anyone, I'm simply asking a question.
It wasnt directed at you or anyone else.
