Journal Intro: Hey, i'm Korey, and I was not planning on starting a journal, but because of a renewed interest in survival, I wanted to start a new world in the latest snapshot, which is 1.8-Pre1. The world is in Normal Difficulty and is totally vanilla. I will hopefully be coming out with updates daily, but with school coming up, they might be a little late. I love mining, and I am starting to get better at building, I love redstoning, even though I am not good at it. So enjoy the Journal.
Journal Entry #1: Beautiful Land

Thanks to the Bonus chest, I got apples and 3 stone axes, I don't know why I need that much, but the axes help with chopping down my first tree.
I was walking around in the Valley and I found this little lake with trees around, this would be a great spot for a nice garden or fishing hut, or both.
As I was killing some sheep for a bed, This guy comes up, though because of the axes, I killed him fairly fast.
On the first day, I managed to build this, its quite small, but It will work until I get something more permanent.
The inside is really tight, so I Have to make use of the space that I have.
I wanted a more permanent food source, so I figured that since there were a lot of sheep around, and sheep now drop meat, that I will make a sheep farm, but I need wheat to breed them, so I made a wheat farm, there is nothing like farming next to a waterfall.
Because I Had a lot of free time today, I am also coming out with Update 2
Update 2: Livestock Farms and Some Surprises
I made this pen for sheep, because Bread isn't the best food source. Plus, sheep now drop Mutton, which I can cook for a better food source. While I was building this pen, a sheep wandered into it, so that helps a lot! But I will need more sheep to breed.
When I turned around at the sheep pen, I saw this awesome world generation, I will probably make something out of it later, but for now I will just admire it.
My wheat started to grow finally, so I got some sheep, and with all the sheep that spawned in the area, I picked up 4 of them when I was planning on only getting 1. I might make an automatic sheep farm, because of the meat, but that will be later on.
All the sheep in the pen, they look so nice and fluffy.
My farm is slowly growing in size, eventually I will make a greenhouse for wheat, but for now this will do.
As I was walking back to my house, I noticed this pumpkin, which is awesome because now I don't have to hunt for pumpkins. Jack O' Lanterns will be great for a greenhouse. (The pumpkin in very hard to see)
I was running low on resources, so I went strip mining at level 11, I didn't find any diamonds, but I found some other stuff. The Lapis is great because once I find diamonds, I don't have to hunt for lapis to enchant. And remembering i'm in a valley surrounded by extreme hills, I find an emerald, and since I mine a lot usually, I will have no problem trading with villagers once I get them.
And now for the surprises, first off we have my banner, I made it using flowers I found throughout the valley, I like it because It has all different kinds of colors, which I think matches the theme of beautiful land and flowers.
And the other surprise, a New building, in update 1 I said that the land would be great for a fishing Hut. So that is what I built, I made it kind of small with a long dock for different places to fish, I made it out of wood because I don't expect a fishing hut to be made out of expensive materials, I built it rustic, Not much decor on the inside, but that will change soon, now all I need is a fishing rod...
I think I'll watch this journal. I like what you did with the polished Andesite, topping the corners of your cobblestone walls with it. I'm not a big fan of the new stone types, but I like Andesite more than the others. Plains is probably my favorite biome, despite the fact that trees rarely spawn in it. You're lucky to spawn next to some Birch trees.
I'll be happier when the newbie stuff is done with and you'll be able to go into more detail about your actions in game. It'll make for a more interesting read. I'll wait patiently for more updates.
Right after the last update, I went mining, and I found 8 Diamonds, which eventually I used for Pickaxe, sword, enchantment table, and shovel. I had to do some terraforming for a new and permanent house. I'm starting on it already because My chests are full and I don't want to make an underground chest area where i'm going to move them anyways. So this is what I terraformed.
And after some building, here's the layout of the new base. In the back is the enchantment table room, the right side will be a staircase going down which is where my storage is going to be, and It will be only 1 story tall.
As you can see in the picture before, I have blue stained glass for the windows, after taking the picture, I realized it didn't fit, so i went out exploring for sand, (glass), Ink, and to see what is surrounding my valley. I walk just a little bit through the extreme hills and i find this, a swamp, so that is good if I need slimeballs.
As I was walking in the swamp, I see this out in the distance, I thought this was cool and I wanted to share it.
Through the swamp, after killing some monsters, no slimes though, I see a birch forest, which is good if i'm going to use birch for some of my builds.
So I come up by a plains biome, and because i'm looking for a desert, I know that deserts are usually close by a plains biome, so as I was walking, slaying monsters on the way, I see this roofed forest, I didn't get any saplings from the trees, but I'll be sure to get some later.
Walking through the plains, I see this, I couldn't believe my eyes, Horses! Jk, I found a village! I'll probably just cure some villager zombies back at the base, but it's cool to find a village yet.
After going through the village, I followed the plains a little more and a minute later, I find a second village, I'm lucky to find one, let alone two.
From the second village, I see some jungle trees way out in the distance, and as I was heading over to it, I find melons, which is good.
Grabbed some cocoa beans, and then headed home, I traveled around 1000 blocks so it wasn't too bad, but some of the mountains in the extreme hills biome were gruesome to climb. But eventually I arrived home, and the first thing I did was go to bed, afterwards, I used the books from the villages to make bookcases, and eventually a level 30 enchantment table.
Finally, I am happy to announce that Update 4 is out!
Update 4: The House
So, i'm probably going to have a lot here so get ready. I have been working for many hours on this new permanent house, the stained clay on the floor was made by clay from rivers and lakes. I have put a lot of thought, time, and resources on the house, and I built it so that I will live here permanently. My old house is now a mining shack, because I can't find a spot to put a mineshaft in my storage room. I may make room later, but for now I will go to the old house for mining. I have to put more decoration in the house, but it will work for now. The storage room has 123 double chests, or 256 normal chests, which is a LOT of wood, not including the tripwire hooks. I made the house in creative on a different world to see if I liked it, and I did, so I built it. I procrastinated on the roof, because I was working on the storage room. I have never built a house like this, mine are always rectangled. Plus, this is my first time making a storage room, I like it because it is fully functional, plus it looks nice. The fountain is made out of stone brick stairs, stone slabs surrounding it, and in the middle is polished granite for the ground, and Polished Diorite for the pillar. This took a lot of time of thinking and working. So, here are some pictures of the house.

Thank you for all of your support so far, I would not be inspired to build this without you guys. Thank you!

I will, the world is new and I don't want to ramble about doing something that everyone basically does in the starting of a new world
