All I was saying was, how many steaks do cows give you? 1. How many potatoes do potato plants give you? 3. Try to breed two steaks. Not gonna happen buddy. Do I need to explain more, or are you no longer confused?
Cows can give 1-3 steak and 1-3 leather. Potatoes can give 1-4 potatoes and have a slight chance of giving poisonous potatoes. Get your facts right. Also cows can be bred an infinite amount of times so there is no reason to only have two, I usually have 10-12.

If you would have read in one of my previous posts, I said I didn't know how many they gave. Yes I know they can give you poisonous potatoes I have like 20 stacks of them from farming. As I said originally, I just have more potatoes than cows and since my brother kills all my cows the second I get them but he could care less about the potatoes he just wants cow leather, so I find it easier to get baked potatoes. And, I don't have 10-12, because, as I just stated, he kills them all. I've said that before maybe you should get your facts right?
Thats fine man its your choice. Personally I don't really care what I eat I just tend to have more cows than potatoes(also i hate planting crops). Forgot about your brother, that would be annoying. I would say that each food has its pros and cons and the one you choose is just a matter of personal opinion.
And use a Fortune III pickaxe to harvest them, which doubles the net after replanting (from 1-4 to 1-7, averaging 2.5 (net 1.5) and 4 (net 3))... talk about ridiculously overpowered... infinite food. Harvesting them doesn't even damage the tool either; an actual use for a golden pickaxe (gold = higher chance of Fortune, not that I've made one just for this; the tool could also anything else)
Yes, that is what I eat as well, have an entire chest filled with baked potatoes and a stack lasts me longer than a stack of logs for torches does while caving; the requirement that they be cooked is nullified by the fact I mine enough coal in one play session (without Fortune) to cook many times what I've ever eaten in one world. The way I eat also means they make more sense; I rarely need to eat to regen health until I starve, so I eat when I have 1-4 hunger bars left, which is filled up with 2-3 potatoes (with steak you have to eat no more than one at a time to avoid losing saturation since it is limited to 20; 1 potato = 7.2 so three will only lose 1.6 points).
Of course, golden carrots are the best food if you need to frequenty eat to regenerate health; also, the people who say that pumpkin pie is as good as steak because they both restore 4 hunger bars, but the saturation of pumpkin pie is very low, at only 4.8, the same as a carrot. In fact, a baked potato restores more combined hunger and saturation points than pumpkin pie (13.2 vs 12.8)!
You've got a lot of good points and fortune isn't "That" hard to get and if you have a zombie xp grinder you can get levels for fortune and you get more potatoes.

You don't even need an XP grinder (never made one); I just go to the Nether and mine some quartz, which is faster; each ore averages 3.5 XP so less than four stacks, which takes me about 10-15 minutes, will get you to level 30 and you only need to make a Nether portal (it isn't renewable but after you enchant you can just repair with XP from mining/killing regular mobs, unless you mostly just mine stone; even without enchantments a diamond sword is good for about 520 mob kills, 2,600 XP, then add Unbreaking and Sharpness (4x uses, 2 instead of 3 hits for most mobs) and you get 6 times that (less if you add other enchantments and can only repair with diamonds but my Sharpness V, Knockback II, Unbreaking III sword gives me over 6 times the XP, about 7,800, needed to repair it, 1,205 or 35 levels for two diamonds).
why is porkchop voted less than steak! theyre both the same thing
Because cows give you leather and milk? Of course, except perhaps during the early game those aren't that important; I've never used milk to cure poison (not easy to carry a bunch of buckets, you know) and a stronghold has more books than you'll ever need; of course, nobody ever makes leather armor when you can get iron armor in like 5 minutes in a new world (by just mining a staircase down, no caves required due to how absurdly common it is).
Steak is the best and most practical food, as it has one of the best saturation of all the foods, and replenishes four hunger bars in one steak. Best one. Meat forever!

Just pop some buckets of lava into your auto smelter, BAM you got your food done!

Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

Reason:It is easy to get and it restores 4 hunger bars!
