the compass is a good idea in theory, but i'd just prefer it points north.
Clouds always go in one direction.
and the sun/moon rise/fall in one direction.
the clouds and sun/moon move in the different axis:
sun/moon =north south
coulds = east west
They always head in one direction and never change.
Compasses pointing north would kinda be pointless.

You are now reading this. You just lost the game.
You have just read this. You are also manually breathing.
I'm gonna cut out your eyes, then I'm gonna cut out your balls, then I'm going to take your eyes and put them in your ball sack, then I'm gonna take your balls and put them in your eye holes!

Define "North"
It has been established that Minecraft might not be part of earth. Who says that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west in Minecraft? For all we know it could rise in the south and set in the potato. Maybe compasses do point North! It's just that north is our spawn point. O.o

The Sun rises in the North!
Now these points of data make a beautiful line...

It was a bit obfuscated, but that's what seth_b said. The AXIS the clouds revolve around is east/west, therefore they go either north or south. Likewise, the AXIS the sun and moon revolve around is north/south, so they go either east or west.
For the record, Clouds do go North and the sun and moon each go East to West.

This argument has already been had. The Sun and Moon are defined by the community as rising in the East, just like they do on Earth. The cardinal directions remain the same, so everything else falls into place from there.
We *COULD* define the directions as potato and rutabaga, but that'd be silly and counterproductive to communication.

Why not rise from the potato and set in the Fibonacci sequence?
What happens to your dogs when you die? Presumably they respawn with you, that'd suck if you had to go get them...but I could see them just chilling wherever you got skelli-sniped, waiting for you.

No... If they die.... They are gone gone...
Soooo this is coming out on the 27th?

Yeah, well that seems pretty obvious. What I was asking about was actually what happens when you die. They're mobs, so they're not going to die just because you do. I'm wondering if they get "dropped," like items, and you have to go back for them, or if they respawn with you (or if they die when you do and don't respawn, I guess, but that would be lame). We'll know soon enough.
Another thought: can dogs use water ladders? Probably not, since it requires precise location control. But it seems like they might be able to use real ladders, since they're a commonly-used item.
I live in the US, last time I checked Sunday is the first day of the week according to.... everyone...
BUT I do know that the US postal service consider Saterday as the first day of the week for some weird reason.
Correct, Earth alway have day, month, years. When they try Half Time in World. So Eastern Are in Monday and
Western are in sunday.

because nobody really knows what that is, and those who do really wouldn't want the sun to set there :/
