And once you get to the Nether... then what? You can't bring Netherrack back to the main world for light because you still can't get a pick-axe to mine it.
it's just amusing looking at what you can do without wood. You can make sandstone and clay blocks(but not brick), make a flint and steal, and find buckets. You can farm sugarcane and cacti but not wheat. you can get red, yellow, orange, white, and black dye, but not blue or green.
Step one: Get a bucket and one iron from a dungeon.
Step two: Find some gravel, make flint and steel.
Step three: Find a lava lake, and make a mold.
Step four: Fill the mold, and use water.
Step five: Activate the portal.

colourful woolen house much?
but i do believe you could find a bucket in a dungeon and have lava as a light source.
and if you can find saplings in dungeons(i dont think you can) you could then plant a tree and grow it with bonemeal to restart planting your forest!

I have a video of Charlie Sheen while he was high. Is that what you mean by a charged creeper?
Using the wool-fuse method to get into the Nether without wood or dungeons, you could use it for lighting back home. Haven't you kids ever taken a walk with Ghasts around?
Game would be pointless, unless punching cobblestone dropped a resource and you could make cobblestone handles. I think we need a mod were you can make different handles!
It would be hell on Minecraft! Nothing would get done if there was no wood. Wood is where everything starts.
Ironically, is is possible to get to the nether without wood.
This is actually true. You can punch through obsidian (eventually), and if there's a deep enough lava pit and a waterfall, you can punch a frame. Then, find iron in a surface dungeon and flint from some gravel.
Of course, the problem is, punching obsidian takes something like 2 minutes/block. Not to mention the difficulties of finding a surface dungeon with iron in it.
You still need to mine the iron. And smelt it. With a furnace. Made of stone. Mined from a pick. With a wooden handle. :tongue.gif:

You need wood, u need wood to get the pickaxes to get the steel to collect lava or obsidian!
Gods, why do you people always see a post and then say "How can you do that?/That's impossible!" when the entire rest of the thread consists entirely of explaining repeatedly in detail the method through which it is possible, as you would know if you had bothered to use your eyes and read?

Oh, right, I forgot - this is the internet, everyone is an idiot.

Unless you were kidding, which is very possible, your response doesn't really make sense.
Secondly: Welcome to the forums; expect creepy people, trolls, and people that whine about updates. In other words: Welcome to a place of pain and suffering. xD
Here's how you get to the nether without wood, and without dungeons:
First, you need two lava pools and a lot of wool from punching sheep. One of the lava pools must be at least 4 blocks long and 5 deep, and have a water source nearby.
Dig a channel from the water to the deep lava source, turning the top layer into obsidian. Slowly punch away the obsidian, and the water will transform the next layer of lava into obsidian as well. Use this process to carve your obsidian portal.
Then, make a line of wool starting from the inside of the portal all the way to the other lava pool. Either place the last wool above a lava square, or dig a channel for the lava to touch one of the wool, lighting the 'fuse'. Follow the fire back to your portal, and watch it ignite!
Have fun in the Nether with no wood!
Once you get to the Nether, get a ghast to shoot at you and blow up some Netherrack for you so you can take it back to the overworld and finally get some 'torches'. That's why you want to go to the Nether.
(I have a friend who, when he first played, knew you needed a pick to mine things, but didn't know you could make a wooden one. He spent several minutes punching stones trying to get them to drop so he could make a stone pick.
Eventually, Mr. Creeper came along to help. "So THAT's how you get stone!")
This is just madness (Madness? This, is, SPARTAAA).
1. Finding a dungeon would be very difficult, unless you happened to spawn in one or find a surface one. You can't excatly dig your way into one unless you're willing to spend hours upon hours to get a few hundred blocks closer to a dungeon (If you even know which direction to go in). Even once you found a dungeon you then have to pray that it actually has chests in it, and then pray even harder for there to be two buckets (I presume this can be done with one bucket, just make a infinate lake near where you want your portal to be) and an iron ingot.
2. Finding lava is not only rare on the surface, but almost impossible (Yet again) to get from underground because of how long it would take you to punch your way down too. You couldn't just punch straight down because, 1. You don't want to risk dieing in lava and losing all your hard-earned items, and you cant put them in a chest because theirs no wood, 2. You can't get back up unless you found 10 buckets and managed to fill them up all with lava and punch stairs back up, which would take four years (Trust me, I've tried it).
3. Finding water is easy, NEXT.
4. Make your mould, place lava source block, make obsidian. Repeat number 2.
5. Getting flint is easy, light portal. Enter Nether. Do nothing because you've just wasted your time.
APART from all the difficulty and time spent on getting to the nether, it is an achievement but not one I'm wanting to go for thank you very much.
That seems like easy. I think someone should do a lets play with this strategy. I bet It would be popular.

I have trouble getting wood? Do I win?
