It would be hell on Minecraft! Nothing would get done if there was no wood. Wood is where everything starts.
Ironically, is is possible to get to the nether without wood.
No its not, you need wood for a pick to mine the obsidian.
Actually, it would be technically possible, just difficult.
You'd need to find a dungeon and it'd have to have a minimum of 2 buckets and 1 steel.
For the flint'n-steel you could get flint, and use the 1 steel.
With the buckets you could gather lava with the first one, and use the second one for water to make obsidian from the lava source blocks where you needed it.
Light the portal you made with the lava source blocks, and there's your nether.

This is actually true. You can punch through obsidian (eventually), and if there's a deep enough lava pit and a waterfall, you can punch a frame. Then, find iron in a surface dungeon and flint from some gravel.
Of course, the problem is, punching obsidian takes something like 2 minutes/block. Not to mention the difficulties of finding a surface dungeon with iron in it.
Plus the fact that it doesn't drop obsidian unless mined with a diamond pick.

...its a little weightist to assume everyone is the same size. Like some people are skinny and some people are fart.

Even if you do punch obsidian, I dont believe it drops as a resource.
Here's how you get to the nether without wood, and without dungeons:
First, you need two lava pools and a lot of wool from punching sheep. One of the lava pools must be at least 4 blocks long and 5 deep, and have a water source nearby.
Dig a channel from the water to the deep lava source, turning the top layer into obsidian. Slowly punch away the obsidian, and the water will transform the next layer of lava into obsidian as well. Use this process to carve your obsidian portal.
Then, make a line of wool starting from the inside of the portal all the way to the other lava pool. Either place the last wool above a lava square, or dig a channel for the lava to touch one of the wool, lighting the 'fuse'. Follow the fire back to your portal, and watch it ignite!
While it would be nearly impossible, you could survive without wood, and you could get to the nether. You kill creepers to get gunpowder, and make tnt. You then blow up some coal, iron, and stone. You make a furnace, and smith the iron. Make a bucket, and voila, you can cast obsidian to make a nether portal, and light it up with the flint and steel. Although, once you do that without trees, you have won Minecraft.
Edit: Can't make tnt without craftingbench, so instead, just get a creeper to blow up near the coal and iron.

And when Thomas went to heaven, to Notch did he fair tell; "Another sheep reporting in sir,I have served my time in hell."
And once you get to the Nether... then what? You can't bring Netherrack back to the main world for light because you still can't get a pick-axe to mine it.
I dont think there is something else that I might add, its all on the title.
Basically... that. How Minecraft would be with no wood, and thebefore no trees

If you earn one, you can not give it away.
Punch... dirt?
That's one ****ed up looking tree lol.
Minecraftia would be just a barren wasteland without trees. And your tools would have stone handles...and probably last longer.

Have fun in the Nether with no wood!
