How about you just don't tame them? Its no different then having spiders walking around during day really.
I'm not really complaining about their existence. They're supposed to be fairly rare right? I just don't understand how someone can say "Let's add wolves to the game!" (any game) without making them somewhat hostile to the player character. Is notch going to add tigers for all the cat lovers and make them docile too?
They're Climbin in yo window, Snatching yo people up.
so Y'all need to hide your kids, Hide your wife.
Hide you're husband cus the spiders are raping everybody out here...

Im pretty sure that you could tame a wild wolf. But taming it wouldnt be as easy as giving it meat.
I wish wolves would be harder to tame and take more effort but thats just me.
IGN:exmpletree Age:16 How long you've played Minecraft: 5 months
Are you sexy?: oh hell yeah ill let my elder sister play too . (she is 21) and i did her xD
Let's talk realism: if you were on an uncharted island, would you be able to find and tame a wolf?
Yes, actually. You say that it seems unnatural to find a companion when you're stranded, but I think it's one of the more critical parts to keeping your sanity (in a real-life scenario anyway). Even in movies and stuff- Tom Hanks befriended a stupid VOLLEY BALL in Cast Away. No interaction to anything for as long as some of our avatars have been in Minecraft wouldn't be healthy in the real world.
Some of you are seriously missing the point on this. I understand in the movie he befriended an inanimate object, but that is much easier than taming a dangerous wild wolf. The issue isn't whether he SHOULD make a friend (by all means, get a pig friend or something), but whether he CAN.
My point is when survivorman or man vs wild goes out in the wilderness, they avoid wolves. Taming one is out of the question.
Wow, your trying to say that the level of difficulty is too high to accomplish in real life. So is literally every other thing you do in minecraft. I realize some people make completely unrealistic suggestions, like dragons in game, which I don't like, but compared to all the things already in game, befriending a wolf is 100% reasonable.

I guess I didn't completely understand them then, I thought they would be hostile in a sense.

I guess jeb should have added them becoming aggressive again if not given another random ammount of bones after 2-5 days, give or take.

I suggest we adopt a xenophobic attitude towards this clearly deadly threat.
We need to quarantine any infected individuals to prevent this plague from gaining a foot-hold.
They attack both people who you attack with fisticuffs/swords, and enemies who attack you by any means. And they are both faster and jump further than spiders. Now if the opponent is on a castle wall or something, yeah you are pretty much screwed. But in the average wilderness setting wolves have an advantage, especially in a forest where arrows might be stopped by trees.
Oh I did'nt know that they would attack if something attacks you! I guess that would work.

Yeah. The video that was posted is a "work in progress" clip but the wolves aren't hostile before they are tamed. I have seen no reliable information which suggests that they will be... thus my disappointment.

I agree. If people are excited about having pets in Minecraft there should definitely be consequences to mistreating your pet.
There is no problem with the wolves added to Minecraft. They've been stated to be incredibly rare.
The wolves themselves are still very rough in terms of coding, we have basically no idea what they'll be like in the final game.
You're all complaining about wolves when all you have to go on is 1 minute of video, which does not even show actual gameplay with wolves (There won't be 10 wolves per chunk in the real game, for instance.)
Calm down until you have some information, at least.
I love wolves, I think the game appeals to children and this will increase the playerbase, and I think they add something to the game.
However, I think they should be like spiders/pigmen at night/day. They would turn hostile at night and attack any roaming farm animals for... fresh meat. raaawrwrarara. Occasionally, they'll attack another hostile mob for food (they're really attracted to skeletons because of their bones), but every other hostile mob in the area would team up against it and ignore you.
During the day, they'll occasionally pounce on a piggie for some meat, but stay clear of other hostile mobs. If you attack a wolf, every other wolf in the area would turn hostile against you and chase you down, similar to pigmen. If you try to tame them at this point, they'll ignore it, but throwing a piece of bacon into the wild will divert their attention.
Bookshelves are useless, go cry and make a thread about it.
Hahaha, Oh man.
That made me laugh, really hard.
I agree with him, there are a lot of useless things in minecraft. For example, coal ore, we don't need it because we can already make charcoal and coal ore just makes it easier for people who don't know how to make charcoal.
I don't know if this has been said before as i only read the first page as of now, but you get bones from magic skeletons who shoot unlimited arrows at you. The bones tame the wolf because they have magic in them. problem solved.

1. if u enjoy being alone dont tame one.
2. the wolves have health so the can be killed. this means a creeper can still pop up from behind and kill all ur wolves.
3. u have to hit something for the wolves to go after them. So ye creepers and other stuff can pop up behind u.
Wolves do not add anything to the game. They are a complete novelty mob. The only people who enjoy it are the people who only play games for their novelty value, and even these people will get bored after the first ten seconds of having a wolf. After that it's just clutter.
People supporting wolves are on the same level as people supporting nukes. They want something in the game, that really doesn't need to be in the game, simply 'because it would be cool'.
Muncher, you say wolves serve no purpose, yet they have the practical use of being able to kill mobs for you. You also say they're just there to look cute, well bookshelves are just there to look good too, yet you support bookshelves because they make your house look better. :sleep.gif: Wut.

There ya go dont have to worry about wolves.
I think they should have Pack AI.
One won't bother you, but 3 or 4 on the other hand...
If you want to be alone, don't tame a wolf- treat it just like any other mob and beat the crap out of it.
A novelty that has a practical use?
