Hey guys, I'm back playing again after a couple months of playing another game. I enjoyed doing my journal so much previously that I definitely want to do it again.. So here it is. I've been back again for a week or so, playing around on another world, getting used to the new snapshots and getting back into the groove, but I had a PC crash due to a storm, and got a chunk error.. right on top of my main building. I could have fixed it with MCEdit but I'd have lost a ton of work either way (plus most of my resource storage), so I deleted that world. So now we're here on this world, and with the first minor update of what I hope to be an awesome world.
Update List :
Update 1: A fresh start, and crappy stone tools.
So if I'm going to be on a world I plan on sticking around on for a while, I had to get a seed which I didn't hate. I generally try to find witch huts close to spawn, but with the addition of underwater structures, I let it slide for once. I did find a seed which has a witch hut around 300 blocks away from spawn and an underwater structure which was about 600 blocks away as well, but that was the world I was screwing around on previously before I got the chunk error and I didn't want to start fresh on the same seed.. So I found this..
The two underwater structures are just slightly less than 256 blocks away from each other, I think its roughly 230 blocks, so I can only barely use this as a double underwater structure trap, but what I plan on doing is setting up a trap on the left one first, while using the island its literally on the coast of as a home for the time being, and then starting a base between the two structures. That way no matter where in the base I am, one or the other will always be running (and hopefully I'm far enough away to not hear the stupid attacking noises when they kill squids, it's extremely annoying)
This is the island where I spawned at. Literally nothing special about it. I have an idea for something I can use it for, which I'll explain in just a second.. The island with the first underwater structure is the one just in front of me. This island is pretty useless at the moment so I hopped off and went to the next one.
This was supposed to be a "forest biome", but I took care of that quickly and removed all the trees. You can hardly call this a forest any more.
No more trees! Muahaha.. wait that's actually not a good thing. I'll replant, I just needed charcoal badly to light up the island. I haven't been attacked by a hostile mob (besides the guardians which I keep trying to screw with..) in days (minecraft days). Which is good because up until I luckily found a spider and managed to get 2 string for a fishing pole, I was near death with almost no food after trying to swim with the guardians.
So in the past 2 pictures you can see cows and sheep and whatnot which are very luckily on the island. When I first started the world, there was 3 cows on the island. After doing a little caving I came back out and found 3 rabbits, a few sheep, and even more cows. I completely forgot that passive mobs can still spawn normally if they haven't reached the areas mob cap, which 3 cows was nowhere close to. Which brings me back to the plains island which I spawned on. If i keep the amount of passive mobs low, there's a chance where I could get horses to spawn on that tiny little plains island. I'm going to try to keep the mob cap low and see if I can make that happen.
While I was fishing, I turned my camera in just the right angle to notice this.. Look in the background on the left side if you haven't noticed it already. There's a small village just in the distance. I went and checked it out already, there's a couple priests, a librarian, a weaponsmith and a toolsmith. There was no blacksmith building sadly, but I did get some bookshelves from the villagers for when I get enchanting going, I'll have a little bit of a head start. Plus now I don't need to cure villagers to start an iron farm, which I plan on getting hopefully soon.
That area where the village is at is also the start the a major land mass. I only explored the edge of it which is a very large plains biome, I'm hoping I can find horses there, but if not, I'll still try my passive mob spawning thing I talked about a minute ago.
Anyways just a little bit extra info. I think I'm going to turn this into a series as well. Watch it or don't doesnt really matter me, not going to mention it again though. I have an episode recorded already but it needs to be edited. Also, I want to keep a list of thing's I'm going to accomplish on this, which I will update as well as I complete projects and start new ones.

Thanks. I really don't know what sort of project I want to start on for this world though. Resources are pretty limited at the moment. I have a great area to work in, but it's not good for early game. Getting food was a struggle early on. I nearly starved until I killed a spider and luckily got some string to make a fishing pole and now I've been eating fish non stop.
Since fishing is going to be a little bit of a priority for now, I think it is fitting that I build some sort of a dock to fish off of though. Which I'll probably do for fun here soon. Maybe with a little fishing cabin or something as a starter home?

A dock would be pretty neat, sort of like a little fisherman's house. I guess I'll have to stop back again and check to see what you end up doing.
Hey guys, sorry I've kinda held back the update due to me trying to keep the journal updates on the same pace as my videos. And because of my lazyness and not editing, and lack of getting my first episode out out until yesterday, I kinda held back updating until the I had the 2nd video edited.
So anyways.. Update 2: The fisherman's house on the flattest island in the world.
This isn't going to seem like a terribly big update, but what I did took me hours and hours of play time.
I flattened.. everything! It's not going to stay flat though. I'm going to build something real quickly and then put some slopes and hills back into the ground because it looks unnaturally flat.
Oh hey, we built it.. that was fast.
Well that's the outside. There's going to be a dock which connects to the door on the side and the one on the back from the most recent 2 pictures. I have it designed already, but I slightly ran out of oak wood when I finished the house. So the dock will come later once I cut down all those trees in the background.
The view from when you walk into the front door. I haven't really done any interior decorating yet.
My bedroom and the ladder to get up the attic which I'm using for storage
So that's about it for today. Smaller update, but I can tell you the amount of time I put into it wasn't small. If you wanna get a better look at the house / me building it, I did a time lapse of the build and it will be up on my channel in my signature within the day.
Oh and just to note. I've been to the nether as well guys. Right next to where my portal brings me in the nether, is a HUGE fortress, surrounded mostly by lava (yay) and has a double blaze spawner inside of it. I managed to recover 6 saddles, 4 iron horse armor, 2 gold horse armor, 1 diamond horse armor, 3 diamonds, some gold, netherwart, and blaze rods from the adventure, and I don't even think I finished exploring it yet. I had to leave due to getting my ass kicked since I didn't have a bow to defend myself.

Amazing build! I wish i had you skillz I'm building parkour that's mostly what I'm good at building/doing (Do you have a server? if i want to know about it please)

Lol thank you. I should have gotten a picture of it during the day time, it looks much nicer then. I may take a day time pic here in a few and post it, and I'll make sure to get a good pic of it when the dock is built. The dock is going to make this house so much more awesome.
Really makes me feel good about it because to be honest, I kinda struggle in my building skills. I'm much more of a mechanics / redstone guy and spend a lot of time thinking about automation and farms, and very little about aesthetics. The house turning out this well made me really happy since I don't normally build this well.
And sorry no, I don't have or play on a server currently. I've been invited to a couple since I've been back but I haven't made any decisions on joining them yet.

I like your house so far. +1 from me.
I wish you best of luck with your mob farms. I'm in the process of making my universal hostile mob spawner for my minecraft journal (The Rig, also found here in the survival forums), but as I started building my design in survival, I noticed a major flaw and had to tear down the whole thing and start over with a new design. talk about infuriating.
But you should try and play on a server once in a while, do you use to play it on a server or you just don't like it
I used to. One of the two servers I was invited to since I've been back was a server that I used to play on with a small group of people who all stopped playing for a little while and came back recently as well, I'm considering rejoining it, but I just started this world as well and I am really excited about it, and I think if I played on a server right now I'd probably not be on this world nearly as much.
Fantastic job. I personally loved how you used the attic for storage space. You are making nice progress.
Thank you guys. I'm really happy about the feedback on this house. I'm glad you guys like it. It's really motivating me to get started on the dock and start working on the interior.

This journal looks nice :D. i will be awaiting it.
Also what is the world seed?
Thanks. The seed is a secret so i have to put it in spoiler tags.
The seed is "coffee" without the quotes. Or the actual seed from the /seed command is -1355030580 ..Actually just use the /seed command one. I can't remember if the c in coffee is supposed to be capitalized or not.

As has been stated before, nice house. The thing I liked the most was the "beams" in the ceiling--I've never seen that idea before but it looks really cool. Also, using steps in the wall to make a notch around the outside is new to me as well. Were these ideas original or did you see them elsewhere?
The beams in the ceiling I've seen before. The stairs in the walls to make the notch was my own idea to try to put a little depth into the walls. I've seen them used other ways in walls before but not to make a notch like I did. I like how it turned out.

Eh not really. More of just normal survival. I just happened to be on a small island when I spawned. I explored the village on the main land which isn't too far away already and gathered some stuff from the village and some pumpkins i found near by it. But for now I'm going to stick close to the island and hopefully start playing with the underwater structure here in the hopefully near future..

Boring... Yeah, sure. Because double water temples are boring.
Can't wait to see your next update! I can already tell this world is going to be awesome! (no pressure)
Well I didn't want to set my ego that high.. You guys did it for me :P. And thank you. I really hope I can get to working with those underwater structures soon. Maybe if I stopped wasting time flattening islands and building houses, I could go gather the resources I need to take that thing down!
Edit: Oh the time lapse should be finished uploading any minute now. It's on my channel in my sig. Ep 2 of the series. It should be the most recent upload.

Me: *Spits out juice and chair flips backwards* My gawd

I wish you best of luck with your mob farms. I'm in the process of making my universal hostile mob spawner for my minecraft journal (The Rig, also found here in the survival forums), but as I started building my design in survival, I noticed a major flaw and had to tear down the whole thing and start over with a new design. talk about infuriating.
waiting for the next update from ya.
Thank you guys. I'm really happy about the feedback on this house. I'm glad you guys like it. It's really motivating me to get started on the dock and start working on the interior.

Boring...
