First, I think Notch has been up to no good. And when I say no good, I mean HE ADDED A SECRET TO MINECRAFT! (THE SINNER!)
I'm not being an attention *****, but I think he has successfully made haunted worlds happen.
Here's a message I sent to a friend to sum this **** up.
So this is going to sound like something I made up to sound cool, but I'm actually wondering if Notch hid something deep in the .class files of M1N3craft. This is half-humorous, half-serious.
You see, a few months ago, I had a friend over so we played my world a bit, and we found this dungeon, and it was awesome, though I kinda peaceful-cheated since at the time my game was too laggy to actually fight. Before I actually got into the dungeon though, I repeatedly heard a sound sort of like gushing wind, and it played over and over and over.
So we joked afterwards about secret mobs and stuff, but lately I recovered the lost world file and started playing it again, this time with a different friend, and THE SAME THING HAPPENED, minus the dungeon.
Lately, when I go outside, I've been seeing a green object bobbing over nearby hilltops, but it can't be a creeper because it is too dark a green shade and sometimes it happens on peaceful. When I get to the other side of the hill, it's gone, replaced with a farm animal.
Also, sometimes, I get a single enemy spawn in a VERY WELL LIT area. Since I can find no texture for a secret mob, it could be that it manifests itself as another one and at other times floats around with no actual 'body'.
But yeah, keep your eyes and ears out for such a thing and let me know if there's anything like this in any of your worlds.
Endmessage.
So yeah, I am not making this **** up. If any of you guys want to help me get to the bottom of this little mystery, I am ready to give you some tips.
Underground:
1.
Look near dungeons. My underground encounters have all been not far from one.
2.
Listen for a repeated windy sound. Not like the ambience, which plays once, but plays over and over until you find its source.
3.
I think if it's in a cave with you, it will recede deeper into the caves to avoid being caught up with. No confirmation on this one, of course.
4.
Try trapping it by chasing it into a dead end cave.
Aboveground:
1. Look at the hills often.
(In hindsight, the bobbing green looked more like a slime or the head of a zombie, but it was peaceful so I doubt it and it was also broad daylight.)
If you can read .class files, look around!
And if Notch can directly confirm whether this exists, would be nice.
And if it doesn't, it should happen!

You spooked me a bit, but really, this sounds like some sort of Herobrine case. Im guessing its either a tree, ambience, or more likely youre either lying, insane, or being trolled.

Gamers. Whether thou be a troll or a modder, a complimentor or a criticizer, we may all come together to consecutively, and completely accurately, post the lyrics to the song "Still Alive".
Places I have encountered: In my mining shaft, go to the first cave which has a wooden platform. Follow it back until you find a room with water flowing in from both ends. Around these chunks is a dungeon. This is where I started hearing the sounds.
Around the hills near my main fortress (the one with the tower and stuff) is where I started to see the green bobbing.

Back in June, lots of people heard a mechanical "breath" right behind their character - that sounds like what you described, but it didn't play multiple times.
I suspect of exaggeration - you heard a sound, got scared, posted it on forums, realized that it was nothing, but didn't want to look stupid so you kept the thread open.
Small slimes spawn in peaceful, they're green and they sort of sound like gushing wind.
You're paranoid about the slime turning to animal thing and slimes probably came out of an open cave.

Talent didn't go anywhere, it just gets lost in all the noise. You have to find it.
Well, that Junebug (HEE HEEEE) might have something to do with it, but I wasn't playing Minecraft in June. Also, what about the green bobbing? I can guarantee it wasn't a monster, I am on peaceful ATM because of the building of a test combination lock, and the trees damn well don't move.
EDIT: Slime post was posted after I started this post, I have actually checked the other side of the hills. I didn't just see the bobbing and go LOL GHOST.
Also, slimes only spawn very far underground. The only deep cave networks near the hills only open in the mountainside where I am settled. The chances of one getting out of the cave, navigating around the hills unnoticed, making me see it, and then vanishing on its own are about equal to the chances of me getting laid.
Guys, let's get some other thing straight, I wouldn't be surprised if this was all my imagination filling in the unknown, which brains tend to allow for, but for god's sake, the facts are there. What can it point to other than some secret, if they are all what they seem like?

Dude, it still exists. It was ADDED in June, causing lots of controvert about it, proving it's existence.
The "green bobbing" is probably an animal in certain light, maybe a texturepack at work.
You seem to have had more than one encounter with it, and not short ones either. The fact that you failed to take even one picture in all that time means you probably are trolling. Sorry!

Manly blood is both highly acidic AND highly basic, but I'm glad to see you're paying attention.
As always when I first start a game there is a glitch. Halo 3 crashed, Halo: reach lagged, CS:S had no connectivity, Gmod crashed, Half-Life had a ragdoll glitched that lagged, MW2 mic studdered, etc.
This happened to me on one of the beta updates. When I knew about a beta update I would get on, load it up and look around for about 5-10 min. and then leave. I did it with each update.
This happened on one of them. I was all like "Cool! Green sheep!" Then... Err what? It had turned into an enemy mob. When I was fighting it I noticed a whooshing sound. After I killed it I heard a whooshing noise coming from a block. I placed torches on the ground. Then I was convinced it was from an air block so I brought the torch floor up 1 block with dirt and on my 3rd placement the glitching whooshing sound stopped.
It hasn't happened sence and I have been all around that area the next day. You only need a recording device and then the masses would belive you. I wish I could help.

I was the second person to use the avatar I have. The rest took it from me. The first I asked, he said yes.
I know what I'm doing. I plan ahead, or get tired and screw up everything.

I'm sorry I just had to do that.

Can I take a screenshot of a sound? I am a slow thinker, if a thorough one, and those 'green bobbings' didn't stick around long. That's why I couldn't put any identity to them. They were just up and then down.
Also, Turtleey, sorry, misinterpreted.
Guys, honestly, I'm sorry if I sound like I'm being stupid.
If you can't explain something, even if it's an innocent glitch that you can't identify, what does your brain do before you have time to form a logical argument?
You assume it's a ****ing secret.
Part of me still thinks something's up, and if somebody could look at this in a bit more depth instead of instantly dismissing me as a liar, it would be easier to believe that I'm wrong.
And eion, thanks for the encouragement, though yours is a bit more... terrifying.
And Must, thanks for at least seeing for yourself.
And wait, Eion again, what?

well nothing is out of the ordinary for me. Except that i got absolutely terrified when i emerged from the cave and and saw a creeper bobbing up and down. If it happens again make a video for proof.
Where to start...

It must have been a creeper then. Nothing in the class files fits the description.
