Well i had a friend who kept on telling me he had been playing this game that was something i may of been interested in seeing has i still play a lot of old games such as Doom via the Doomsday Kickstart loader, Mame32 along with some other's. So one day he came round to mine and showed me MC through the browser. I have to say at that point i wasn't that impressed but it was very early on in the development of MC.
A month or so later i kept getting reports off my friend telling me what developments were being made within MC so i got myself a torrent of it (I know naughty but i like to try things before i buy :tongue.gif:) Anyway i actually started to enjoy it and after reading post after post on these forums about the great things that were happening with MC i thought i want to support this game further and of course be able to enjoy multiplayer and all the fantastic mods.
In the meantime i'd helped my friend out with a few things while he was moving house and such only to find one morning i got up that i had a message via MSN from the same friend who'd said "Thanks for all your help over the past few weeks here is your MC username and password. Enjoy :D".
So that's my story. Boring i know but you asked :tongue.gif: hehe
A friend of mine heard about it from somewhere and mentioned it in passing. I was bored, so I decided to check it out. Bought it May 28, 2009, and haven't regretted it since =D

You'll be surprised by how few people actually put a bathroom in their house. Where else would you ****? Where else?

I had seen some buzz about the game on Penny Arcade a couple months back but when I saw a quick video of it I was thinking, "Really? Nope not interested."
Then in November I saw a preview article on the Escapist which included a video from the adventures of X (great series, it's a shame that he stopped making videos) After watching the first couple of episodes "I got it" the concept of the game clicked for me and at that point I knew I had to play it. When home, bought it and haven't played anything since in the last 2 1/2 months.
Since then I've managed to get two of my friends to play it. One of them is a complete graphics ***** but I told him, "just look past the graphics, trust me." Now he is hooked as well. Which proves that great gameplay trumps graphics any day.
With my second friend he was a tougher sale because he had just bought WoW: Cat so he wasn't even looking for a new game to dive into. After some convincing from me and my other friend we got him to give it a shot and after he tried it we got a simple e-mail from him...
I left a modding community ages ago, but I still had some of my old buddies' on YouTube, some months ago, I checked that guy's youtube, and saw that he had favorited a lot of videos from a guy called Seananners, who was LP'ing a game with rather simple graphics, but after watching for like 3 mins or so, i got REALLY interested in it, so yeah... :smile.gif:
Everybody watches seananners and noone else :sad.gif:
I went to youtube and one video from seananners about minecraft was one of the most viewed, I didn't pressed it because I had to go to school, later that day I went to a website called Destructoid to read gaming news and there was one post that talked about minecraft and the picture of the post was with the landscapes, I must admit that what made me play this game and what made me fell in love with it were the graphics :tongue.gif:

I also love the game for its meaning and simple graphics
IIRC, I stumbled upon it in a forum months and months and months ago. Back when it was Survival Test. I quit playing after a few weeks, then recently rediscovered it when it was mentioned on vgcats. Bought it immediately.
I originally though the name was "Mind craft"
This is rougly how he explained the game:
"It is a game with terrible graphics that you build a house in, and fight off monsters in pitch black darkness"
I was....well...rather skeptic.
But nevertheless i have tried the game (i will admit it was first a torrent download)
I absaloutley love the game, so i bought it for myself, and another friend.
I bought it at the very last day of the alpha phase X)
so yes, i got it 50% off.
I was wondering, how did all of you get into this game?
Epic
My Island Adventure - http://www.minecraft...brief-tutorial/
me(red) playing UT2K4 - http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Wz0DnP7wXnU
That sure was nice of them.
Unfortunately i do not like sea nanners.
People such as him, and sites such as "Machinima" takes away all of the possible views for people such as me.
But, if you enjoy it, you enjoy it i suppose.
: D
Long time player?
Thats nice :smile.gif:
And i read every bit, that was nice of him!
Hey me too! =D

Huzzah for no lifing X3
I fully expected this game to be dull by now, and I'm so happy to be wrong about that.
Even on days when I don't think I want to play, I boot the game up, play a little, and I get sucked back in all over again.

I CAN'T get any views T-T
