# @jeb_ Can you confirm/not confirm whether Ambient Occlusion is coming in MC 1.3? Will it be in 'Fancy' or a different option? 3:54 PM Feb 16th via web http://twitter.com/jeb_/status/38151861605371904
@MinyRS Currently it's included in the fancy settings, but we need to get rid of some bugs (such as light shines through corners)
All I can say is thank freaking God. The differences are ****ing HUGE. It'll make the game look so much better and will keep the people who have never actually played the game from putting it off due to graphics. (which you can't deny that there ARE people like that out there.)
Give me more proof than just text. Link perhaps my baby?

I've become so Numb, I can't feel you there;
Become so tired, so much more aware;
I'm becoming this, all I want to do;
Is be more like me, and be less like you.

I wish the minecraft graphics would have checkboxes like "betterlight", "3d clouds", "transparent leaves" since i can run betterlight, but on fast graphics, at 40 fps. While on fancy, i can run it at 10 fps.
My thoughts exactly. Why this is, I have no freaking clue. Perhaps its just that MrM is a better coder then the Mojang team. I mean, you'd think that having such a fancy lighting engine would make the game run slower than just rendering the inside faces of leaf blocks, wouldn't you? I guess not.

Hopefully they implement this. Though I have a feeling not, and it will only be available in "Fancy" mode.
Sucks considering while my game more than chews Minecraft a new one since switching to 64x64 textures I can't run on Fancy for more than a half hour before Java implodes on me. Not sure exactly why, as there are no framerate issues at all but it refuses to work properly on Fancy with 64x64 textures. Switching to Fast is easy enough and doesn't really affect much (clouds and trees) but if I have to lose out on better lighting I'll be a sad panda, especially since I won't mess with mods.

Ambient Occlusion is a mod which makes the lighting less blocky and far more smooth. Look up a video on YouTube of "Minecraft Better Light" and it should pop up. Honestly, I'm glad they're doing this, AO is really cool.

Jeb_ :Spent the morning fixing the leaking lights of the ambient occlusion stuff. An option to turn it off for speed became even more relevant

Implimenting checkboxes isn't exactly advanced coding.. O.o

It smooths out the light so instead of having each block be a different shade, there is a smooth gradient between blocks.

Ambient Occlusion is a lighting method. It has nothing to do with cave sounds.
...But that's just my opinion.
