I'm starting a minecraft let's play and I find that the night time is really dark in the video (You can't see anything but stars and the spider's eyes)
I"m using iShowuHD on my mac, and I've tried Camtasia but the sound goes off for long recordings (10+ minutes = 1 minute audio delay)
When I tried to brighten the video using Camtasia or iMovie '09, it just became really white instead of really black.
I have Color 1.5 and Final Cut 7 but I don't know how to use them...
How do i do the flashlight edit that Coe does in his videos?
If you get Adobe After Effects it should be fairly easy. However it is rather expensive so The majority of people have to pirate it, but I don't personally condone that type of behavior, and try to keep it at bay.
About a 30% increase in gamma (similar enough to brightness) in my videocard makes things light enough to still see details, though my monitor has a somewhat limited black range. Nonetheless the video capture crap might play nicer like that.
To get the actual effect of a light source though you need to fiddle with the brightness as well as the contrast. Maybe your software has some nice automatic feature tucked away somewhere.
i read somewhere adobe phones you.
I cant just brighten the video because since most of it is black or darkish, they all turn into a similar shade of white or gray. I can't really get a good medium

I used windows movie maker and the increase brightness special effect option helps * a little* but don't use it twice otherwise it turns murky and wierd looking o.o

Alright, that means that the problem there is that your video is actually black instead of just darkened colors like the game actually displays. You will have to mess with how much detail your recording software picks up so that it isn't just chopping out all of the hidden details that brightening it would reveal.
If it has already recorded flat black (as in brightness doesn't show details) that video is unusable. You should be able to tinker with the recording settings in some way that will make the files bigger and thus keep some of the subtle shades between the black but nobody seems to use that program so you'll have to find out how on your own.
The best way to do that is looking for generic tutorials on the net not involving minecraft. There is probably some low light thing or whatnot that will show you, if that program can even do it.

Theres also a video of it in my signature.
And it would cost a lot of iron
and i cant use windows (no parallels, not willing to buy windows for bootcamp)
Anyway, don't all mac computers come with iMovie? There should definitely be a brightness adjuster in that program.

I've never used a mod before, but are mods for SSP, or do they work for SMP?

And if not, is there a better program to record for macs
