So over by the 2nd and further back watch tower, I discovered a spider dungeon near my home a few months ago. After watching a video I tried to improve the grind area with the way I push the mobs down with the water. Unfortunately, this didn't really work for me and I reverted it, I did however put cobble stairs around the ceiling and the slope of the ceiling as it goes down in the direction of the water - to stop spiders getting stuck/climbing. I decided to improve it more however and bring the stairs to the drop off point (At the end of the water) closer to the spawner itself.
So as it was, there were double doors several blocks back from the spawner leading to natural steps down to the drop off point that hooks to the right:
What I did, was add black glass to the where the spawner is so you can not only see it but trigger them more frequently being right next to it. Also adding the way down right next to the spawner too.
The torch in this picture would not normally be here of course.
In several minutes I literally went from level 4 to level 17.
Also, as I keep saying I have to go back to the mesa and get more hardened clay and especially Andesite and Diorite, I decided to make a dedicated path to the area. So to get there I have to go across my bridge (or via the underwater tunnel using a minecart), past the church and Mount DOOOOoooom and across the suspended bridge that goes across the ocean to my multiplayer house shrine. (Said bridge just being a long length of oak planks floating across the air above the ocean - been like that for years. Needs changing.)
From my multiplayer house shrine it goes all the way to the snow biome so far., but after getting there I realized I could have used coarse dirt instead of gravel. I just wanted to get there and not have to struggle navigating through trees with a donkey as you you know how awkward it is with any type of steed and packed trees.
So this is by the church, I actually had to move it over to the left on top of the mountain from it's previous position.
From the multiplayer house shrine all the way to the snow biome:
I was thinking I need to link the path up by the multiplayer house shrine up to that house itself as well.
From where I ended the path, I still have a big snowy area to go over and cut through before reaching the frozen ocean. After a long trek across that frozen wasteland toy reach a new bank of land to the left where the path will continue for a bit of a stretch through more trees before almost coming to another ocean. You then have to bank left towards the Mesa biome which is then not far away at all and you're almost there - although that will be a good stretch of path also.
Updated farm re-location pics:
I also had to add corner columns to the bunny area as I noticed they kept suffocating and I kept losing 1 out of the 4.
As well as the mass bookcasing of the library I have also finally began the massive task of improving the ceilings now:
In those last few pictures I have to be careful s I know there's lava up there somewhere and it cannot fall onto the wood floor or catch the new wool ceiling I've done so far!
I should also mention that I've moved away from the painterly wool texture. I've used the white wool from another resource pack, after a bit of manipulation to get rid of the edging so it looks a lot cleaner going from 16 pixels to 64 pixels. I only took the white as I recolored it for all the colored wool myself in Photoshop.
Oh and just one more thing... I upgraded the Optifine.. My world has now gone from 1.8.1 to 1.8.3.

Interesting idea and something I might want to try as well. I don't think there's anywhere near my home I would need one, so maybe somewhere like the mesa - which is far, far, away; would be very handy. Maybe an underwater city..
I forgot to ask:How did you keep a world for that long?
I think it's the change to Minecraft itself, - new blocks,/things/aspects and my change in building style and wanting to adapt new things the more Minecraft itself as a game changes; that keeps me going. When we started getting new blocks and wood types - if my style of building hadn't of changed it would've just have been left as a world. My decision to keep going and regenerate and built things better [From the summer of 2012+) and improve everything as the game itself evolves is what keeps the world alive.

I think it may be official, a new horse barn behind the neighboring mountain. (The area I'm currently leveling out.)
I've just been on my creative copy of the world, doing a test build and it turned out better than expected. This is the barn I've had my eye on replicating:

Very well done. Question? Now since you have been playing past the 1.5 update. Have you ever considered redstoning your buildings. Would add a nice job to keep busy with. What you could do is go onto youtube. Personally I watch "Mumbo Jumbo" or "Fennoman" for redstone as they do practical redstone applications instead of command block or giant slime block mechas
Only as far as changing glowstone in exterior walls to Redstone lamps. (Must get back to that now I have 2 cleric villagers in the library.) I did want to turn all the outside lamps (Glowstone on a block of stone-brick) to be redstone lamps as well, but even though I've got better hiding it - I've got better hiding i inside, not outside..
I'll have to look those people up though!
I've also begun work on the new access tunnel through the neighboring mountain, (The one with the maze on top.) to the WIP area out the back I'm flattening and expanding. Soon to be home to the new barn.
Breaking through!:
Given it's not far to the other side, it really didn't take long to tunnel through.

This is an incredibly detailed house! How long did it take for you o build.
I've been steadily building for 4 & 1/2 years now, but what you have to take into account is that in Alpha there was - the living room, back room, upstairs lounge, bedroom and storage. There was no library or art gallery for a long time, no dinning hall with kitchen, no enchanting room or science lab.. No church, Mount DOOOOoooom or multiplayer house shrine, not even the half-way house. By December 2010 I was running out of ideas.
Here's a bit of a time line
2010:
Sometime between 23rd September 2010 and October 30th - the Halloween update - World #2 created, hollow fronted mountain with a lava fall, round the back a waterfall coming out the back wall.
*Unspecified time
*Place a level floor half-way up behind the lava fall in the hollow front for living area
*Dig into mountain round the back just below the waterfall for a water-window room
*Unspecified time
*Try and widen the lava fall, mess it up and cut off the lava, temporary replace with water until I find lava. Accident cause a re-vamp of the entrance after being covered in lava, sticking a bucket of water on it and mining off the cobble.
Unspecified time
*Added small bridge over water drop into ocean
*Fort wall area around back and around sides (Not sure what to do inside fill it with trees eventually.

I've been doing more work on getting the library ceiling covered with wool blocks, and yes I did find that lava in the ceiling that was blocked off. There were a couple of hairy moments (Lava hitting either the wool or the wooden floor below), but I managed to jump up and block it off in time. Now I have the main ceiling done by the reception/entrance.
I'm now working from the stairs down from the walkway
And as you enter from the art gallery, big bit to cover here though!:
Thew new barn build behind the neighboring mountain is going up very fast! I'm not going to show too much right now, but if you look at the map (To the right of the maze) you can see the sides are built and bits are being roofed already!
After this picture I decided to move the whole entire map nearer the door - to extend the map either side. There's more space near the doors and in the extended map (We're going widescreen baby!) you'll be able to see the whole build of the new barn and all of the church on the left side now. (As well as a tiny corner of Mount DOOOOoooom in the bottom left.)
The map as it was:
works: (Also, I lost a map to the right of the middle somehow..)
All of the church:
The new barn build:
There have been a couple of differences to this new barn to the test one in my creative copy of the world. For one, the right hand side goes over into the side of a half-mountain, the creative version didn't. The back of the creative one was a flat wall - as you can see I've added a half-circle back. As a result of the right side, I've had to slice of a chunk of the half-mountain behind it.
Bonus pics:
After slicing:
After some atheistic works:
This landscaping was necessary to be able to roof that side.
The very last thing I did was go to the Nether to add some safety features to one of the Blaze spawners so I can grind with a piston cut-off and safety glass, although I still need to perfect it. I came back with several blaze rods, but had a hairy moment with the local pigmen.
Some of the area above the spawner - on the outside was exposed causing a blaze to hit a pigmen. So, I helped him out and blocked it off, and I'm not even sure how but somehow I hit the pigmen? As he lunged at me I realized I only had two hearts! I had to kill him and a few others before going into a corner and blocking myself in to eat. Even then I heard a pigmen behind some of the blocks - a narrow strip he could still get into, although behind the blocks but still blocked off nevertheless. I killed him and regenerated my health, by the time I came out they were calm.
I was very lucky and could've had a whole pigmen war on my hands, and it wouldn't have been the first time!

Hey - just discovered this thread (through your signature!) and I'm awed - I wish I had some of my old worlds still so I could just continue them on! Bravo to you!
On another note, have you ever thought about releasing your world every once in a while to let people explore? Personally, that's one of the things I love to do the most, because you get to see everyone's ideas up close and I tend to feel an odd wave of nostalgia from it O.o
My original world, which I haven't played in in a couple of years, is about this old. It was started in Alpha 1.22.
My two largest builds are a castle and a large arch bridge.
If I ever get bored of playing modded Minecraft, I might go back to this world some time. Though there are some things it will not have, like Strongholds.

Well, if you explore more than you did in alpha, you MAY find a stronghold. Or you could always MC-edit it in.

Thanks!
I have many times, I'm just worried someone might try and upload it and claim it as their own. Maybe after I realese the next update (Which will have lots of new barn pictures) I might, but - we'll see.

I know what you mean, I've kind of excepted I won't find this one in this world. I mean I could travel extremely far - then go looking, but I've no desire too. I can do that in other worlds with less travel. Is it a shame for this world? (Regarding Strongholds) - maybe. There's still a possibility of me getting the looting III enchant getting wither skulls from the Nether and going to the middle of nowhere to fight the Wither however. I have toyed with the idea of having a beacon.
This is epic! I wish I had held onto my world for that long!
Thank-you.
I do have some new news that I wouldn't mind getting some opinions on.
I was playing on my creative copy of the world, as I got the idea to have more circular fort sections at the front of Mount DOOOOoooom. It went a little further than that however. In recent months I added a new entrance to the fort with two new guard post towers at the front (In progress). Here's how we know it:
I was looking round the back however, (Also at the side facing the ocean); and it's very flat around there so I was thing of more rounded towers around the back.
An extreme overhead view currently:
The proposal (Done on the creative copy.):
*Please keep in mind this copy is from an older save so most exterior walls are only 1 block thickness unlike the survival ones. I had to do the two gate entrances on this creative copy just to match it up!)
So instead of small circular towers at the front, LARGE towers - very tall ones to make it even more imposing. I was skeptical about the top left one because of the rail line but I couldn't have it go through the tower as the entry point was on a curve, not a flat wall. I could re-route the rails around it as shown however.
An extra circular tower onto the side, extending onto the sand, the front right large tower will also help hide some of the chunk wall (Some of it, a corner at least); and instead of smaller towers round the back, again large, tall ones and making the back square courtyard. a "U" shape. Obviously an ambitious project, but I have the cobblestone for it. I just thought of this, right now. I could always also expand with straight walls to the left of the fort (Right as you face it) into the trees as well, with more rounded bits of course, really expand it.
Let me know your thoughts and suggestions for this ide which could be the next big project.

Your home is beautiful! Would you consider ever allowing your map to be downloaded? Exploring that on foot would be glorious. Of course I'd understand if you didn't want to! I absolutely love the modern feel of it. The underwater viewing hits me in a soft spot since I'm an aquarium junkie myself. I wish there were more kinds of sea life in Minecraft. <3

Spider Grind/The Long
RoadPathSo over by the 2nd and further back watch tower, I discovered a spider dungeon near my home a few months ago.

Oh and just one more thing... I upgraded the Optifine.. My world has now gone from 1.8.1 to 1.8.3.

I'm still impressed you have a 4.5 old minecraft world, I have a minecraft account for only 2 years right now (actually, today is my minecraft account anniversary, i created it at April 16th 2013)
keep the good work, but one thing it will look cool would be an underwater base!
I forgot to ask:How did you keep a world for that long?

Interesting idea and something I might want to try as well. I don't think there's anywhere near my home I would need one, so maybe somewhere like the mesa - which is far, far, away; would be very handy. Maybe an underwater city..

- C.C.

Thanks!
2010:
*Exterior infinite rooms (Water, lava) added.
December 2010
*Security fencing
*stone paths
*running out of ideas...
2011:
January 2011 - Added Church
*sheep farm
*lava incinerator
*exterior lava traps outside boundaries
*board-walk lighting
*double mob-trap.
*Art gallery was opened in an old cave inside the mountain
*Bathroom extension off the bedroom
*Dedicated portal room.
(Beta):
*Improved bridge V2
*water elevator in corridor
*Emergency exit (Where bunny room and old minecart exit was) with a boat ride exit
*Art gallery.
February 2011
*Work continues on Mount DOOOOoooom
*Bigger library upgrade
*Building on top of mountain. The last one I lost two weeks of work (Forgot to back up), and accidentally deleted the world after trying to create a new one.
*Preparing to leave world for good.
March 2011
*One month later I get the urge again, build on top of mountain - again, this time in a fort-esq style wall surrounding the top.
*Minor cosmetic ceiling changes to rear lounge. (Now main bathroom.)
April 2011
*Continued work on expanding library (Now the art gallery)
*Experimenting with floor designs for new future dinning room.
*Level 16 block mountain opposite rear lounge for a single tennis court and swimming pool
*Minor floor change to rear lounge.
*Water emergency exit to become minecart exit
*weather comes to world#2 with constant hissing as the rain hits the lava!
*Extended dog kennel (Exterior) from former slime pen
*birch tree farm
*plaque outside
*Start of the half-way house.
*Dinning room finished.
May 2011
*re-vamp of entrance, from cobble to brick
*changes to rear entrance and rear lounge entrance
*Pool area finished. Adding poolside changing rooms
*bedroom extension (First spare bedroom then a bigger bathroom before that too moved, now an access corridor.)
*V.I.P. Room added
*running out of ideas again!
*Notch nerfs fire, lava sets fire to all my wooden over-hang roofs at entrance.
June 2011
*The ALMOST move! (To another chunk) Almost, took down every torch, covered over every glowstone.) nearly going to move into another mountain in another chunk on the same world. Animals begin spawning naturally again so I don't move
*Experiment with bonemeal for long grass
*diving board for the pool
*roofed outside of bedroom and rear entrance to bedroom.
*Remove cacti on beach (Placed)
*join board walk to graveyard (Now the animal farms) & add torches under glass to sides of boardwalk
*new path around outside of bedroom (Side and round the corner to the back/pool area, adjoining other paths there.
*improvements to moved storage room following escaping creepers from adjoining cave (Now the science lab area.)
*office by home entrance.
*Connect kennel (Exterior) to living room via the stairs down to the portal room, use redstone for trapdoors to stop dogs going down there but into my home. (As far as my redstone knowledge went.)
*prettying up the church, thinking of redecorating exterior. (Ground outside the church already smartened up.)
*Return to work on Mount DOOOOoooom
*water elevator closes gets boarded up.
*Complete first watch tower start second.
*Begin Multiplayer home shrine, & complete exterior.
*New pub/tavern by the pool. (Eventually knocked down and re-built, converted into current horse barn)
July 2011
*Sticky piston gate (With fences on pistons) Beta 1.7.

*Consider re-designing my nether bridge
*Library extension almost compete!
*Added lava falls to Mount DOOOOoooom!
*Start of maze on nearby mountain top

Getting Things Done/Nether trip
(As well as a tiny corner of Mount DOOOOoooom in the bottom left.)
works: (Also, I lost a map to the right of the middle somehow..)
Bonus pics:

Keep up the awesome work!
This is awesome, really brings back memories from when I first started playing. Lots of nostalgia lol.
This is epic! I wish I had held onto my world for that long!
"Wake me, when you need me."
Well, if you explore more than you did in alpha, you MAY find a stronghold. Or you could always MC-edit it in.
So basically, I'm stupid.
Thanks!
I have many times, I'm just worried someone might try and upload it and claim it as their own. Maybe after I realese the next update (Which will have lots of new barn pictures) I might, but - we'll see.
Thanks!

Impressive indeed. THIS IS AMAZING! Great work dude!
