Thanks! You've got me all nostalgic now, I had to go and look at the original thread (In my signature) from 5 years ago!
Simpler times! Especially when I look at that outside corner by the kennel entrance, just a wrap around area for the stairs going down and window panes in the dirt and glass blocks for a bit of a sky-light. The old cobble fort walls - which remained for many years, the remains of the mountain around the pool which were big flat ugly walls until thjey were halved. Still experimenting with sand walls with lower log border trims and a spacious but very basic storage room! The beginning of the science lab V1, the dinning room decor V1, simpler library and rooms long lost. Not to mention the very visable landmark apartment block, original empty Half-way house and the first underwater tunnel before I had breathing and night vision potions!
For a while I thought nostalgia is bad and should be avoided, but I have changed my mind. Now I think it is a source of both happiness and inspiration.
It is also interesting to see how our values and standards change so much, even over short periods.
Thank you for the new Easter update, I feel excited about the idea of exploring your world again and finding out what has changed. This time i want to do it with the mindset of learning about larger structures. Always building small is my Achilles heel. Downloading right now!

Before I begin, I want to thank those who took the trouble to download this Easter's release! I checked last week and it had doubled since I last checked. So thank-you!

New mini-project || Villager Capping || Re-stocking
So since last time I've had a little mini-break from Mount DOOOooom, and have been restocking certain resources. I had been planning to do this for a while but it was finally the right oppotunity. This time it was wood! Although Oak (Logs n planks) wasn't and issue:- birch, spruce, jungle, acacia amd Dark Oak were low, so I spent multiple nights chopping down trees and re-planting. I forgot how much I hated chopping down jungle trees. With what I would come to do as a mini-project it was just as well I re-stocked but I still need to do another round. I also want to do a round for iron as after making the beacon it left me at an all time low. I have just a stack of iron on me and a stack in storage only.
Villager Capping
So this all started off because one sesion I logged on and the trapped villager outside the trading area & suspended on a platform had escaped! I'm still not sure how this even happenned! Both the minecart and the rail it was on were not in the enclosure either. The cleric ended up getting turned to the undead side btw. Anyway, I built an elborate rail system from the corridor outside the trading area up to the platform with whatever blocks I had.
After the last picture however, I realised I had made a major mistake.
The villgers in the trading area started to go nuts when I put a farmer up there, literally stampeding the farm. As I was very worried about entity cramming, I quickly pushed him in the minecart back down to see if it would make a difference and returned him inside. It stopped immediatly. So I thought, "Okay, I had a cleric up there, I'll do that again". Pushed a cleric out the door into the minecart and up to the platform - same thing happenned.
Seems they don't like anyone up there now. I returned the cleric and destroyed the platform. It was then whilst in the middle of this new mini-project I decided to cap the villagers once and for all and stop the breeding. Very crudley I have built pre-fabs in the arch-ways as homes and also cleared the art gallery to make more basic pre-fab houses. No more babies.
Fear not though, the art gallery will return, just in a new location.
A new mini build..
It was whilst on a break from DOOOooom, that I was looking around that I got a new idea. As I was on the beach front by my home I thought the boat docks - only moved & rebuilt just over 3 years ago, were looking a bit tired.
With the new one, I looked up boat docks on google images but wasn't inspired at all. So when I went to my creative copy of the world I just started laying planks with no idea what I was gonna do. The only idea was to have a pier leading of the back of my water pagoda going into a boat dock. I used the stairs idea again from the underneath section of the main bridge for a bit of design, but had a terrible time with the actual boat dock platforms at first.
Here's the result though:
On the creative version the plaform tops didn't have dark oak slab tops however, I changed that at the last minute as all jungle slabs/stairs was too bland.
About half-an-hour/45 minutes ago I removed the old docks. I will probablly do the art gallery before I do back to DOOOooom, maybe the iron run but I'm not sure yet.

Wooooah! Those new docks are nice, and if I can get past my procrastination, and even if I do, find a suitable place to do so, those would inspire me to try something very similar. I like that.

Thanks P_G!!
I still have the platforms on the other side of the dock to do yet but it's practically done. I'm tempted to stick dark oak slabs on top of the logs, but i'm not sure. I'd have to move the torches to the sides and I wouldn't like that. Saying that, the original idea was to replace some of the sticky-out logs with redstone lamps with sensors, but I had no glowstone at the time. I've just come back from a Nether haul and have about 4 stacks of glowstone and 7 - 7 & 1/2 stacks of Nether Quartz. (The things you do after getting to xp level 30 then dying and trying to get all your xp back!) SO that's an idea I can do now.
*There was something else in general I missed in my post, but I still can't think of it it now.. (Wait for the edit, waaaiiittt for itttt...)

Kitchens || FAIL Iron Farm & Villager Transportation woes
Well so much for the art gallery - I still haven't even started it yet. I've got distracted once again. I was stopping by my kitchen in the dinning room and thought "This room could do with a good update as well!". Founded in 2012, with the first great refurnishment of the dinning room, I dug out a sizable sqaure room for the kitchen. It remained as it was for a couple of years until 2014 when it got a make-over as it stands today:
Nothing has changed ince. Four years on (I checked it's literally just over four years ago eacks by a few months when I started) it's finally getting a re-fresh and like most of the current age of my world I've gone ultra modern style.
Old kitchen begone! Time for a new floor!
In the last two pictures, the second to last one has no exposed chests, the last one they are exposed. Almost all chests are hidden now with blocks pistoned up in front of them. To do this I had to run two redstone lines, the old one for lights only and the other going anit-clockwise, under the floor, under the door arch for the pistons. As you enter I've had to omi t one redstone lamp in the far left corner as it's like spagetti junction with the redstone beneath the floor of that corner!
If that wasn't enough, I've finally succumb to making a standard iron farm. I will still mine also though.
When I built the parallel minecart tunnel to the half-way station that would become the main line, on one side I found a nice chunk error. (Which apparently I thought I uploaded the pic but now can't find on any of my albums or computer)). It was basically a 16 x 16 esq chunk error. I thought technically it be a good place to convert, technically in the over-ground but technically in a mountain..
It didn't work I took a note of where this location was and where the villager trading area was and dug a long narrow tunnel from the latter to the former, laying minecart tracks, Transporting the villagers was actually easier than I thought but it was later on it's become exhausting. Once they were in and it was deemed a fail I noticed the was a dip (Not really a cave) near where the end of the minecart tracks were, where I've built. It went up, a good 20 blocks at least to the outside, it was there where I would try again on the over-over world, but not until today.
The next day (today)I began work laying out the V2 farm. The hole comes out behind the mountains behind the pool area, so it's tucked away and doesn't matter if it's a bit fugly. Clearing the land, leveling and building up the area walls was the easy bit. Transporting the villagers on a spagetti helter-skelter minecart ride in a very narrow restrictive space was exhausting! As was getting them from the bottom floor (Collection point) up to the next floor where all the doors and villager rooms are. (They're so unco-operative!0 Plus they started mating on the bottom floor and multiplying!
It is done however. Location and spagetti minecart ride:
In time I might do some outside cladding to camouflage it's ugliness, or try and blend it into the mountain. For now it's functional and does what it's supposed to to do. I died a few times when accidentally hitting a villager out of a minecart, the first iron golem attacked me. As for the original chunk error iron farm - it got dismantled to re-use for the new one and I don't know what it'll be used for as both floors inside it remain. To get to the new farm I've just walled of around the old chunk error to where I first found the cave hole going up. in which there is a spiral staircase up for easy access.
Maybe in time I'll make a proper fancy entrance way..

Will I ever get back to Mount DOOOooom??!
Well the short answer is yes, but with all these mini-projects latetly I do seem to be distracting myself from going back. The latest of these being the swimming pool out the back:
In 2011 I flattened a sixteen block high mountain with shovel, TNT, pickaxes - but mainly shovels and pickaxes. Apart from in modern time the surround area and pool border changing from slabs to stained hardened clay, the rest has remained the same. At the time i liked the gravel texture so lined the pool with it, whilst the diving board was just a two-wide column of snow with ladders! It was time for a well over-due make-over!
This all came about because I was looking at the flat mountain above the back wall and thinking about terraforming it before even thinking about the pool!
I changed the blue hardened clay into blue glazed terracotta so was able to re-use it there and have used light blue glazed terracotta for each platform level. Of course I would use concrete at some point, so the inner walls have now been transformed from gravel to blue concrete, that nice deep blue concrete.. As well as the removal of the old diving board I also took the opportunity to add more glowstone in the pool before adding the water, which including re-lining and re-pointing the others so they're evenly spaced out and in line with one another.
I was very efficient making light blue glazed terracotta and smelting it whilst digging up the blue stained/hardened clay around the edge of the pool and removing the gravel inside using torches mainly.
Iron Farm
I did a load of cladding on the new iron farm, a 1/4 of the roof, then had a rest-bite for a week before finishing the room. It's still very box shaped being an iron farm but at least it's not cobble:
The roof is only basic for now, but I will try and do something with it and thing of other idead to bring it out it's box shape, for now it's just camouflaging.
The corridor around the 16 x 16 chunk area (Off the donkey/horse minecart tunnel and the proposed original iron farm planned location) has also had the temporary cobble walls walling it off removed. It's a little nicer, but I'm still not sure what to put on the actual floor base or the one above it. It'd be a shame to waste it.
At least it will look nicer - when it's finished. Nicer than it was anyway.
Looks like I am headed back to settle down at Mount DOOOoom now (Mark these words!). I think i'm ready, I AM ready. Ready to continue filling the insides of the fort.

DOOOooom Improvements | Minor Updates | MOAR minecart rail networks??!
So before I get to the main meat of this update, I just want to cover a couple of very small updates.
Main living area
For a year and a 1/2 I've had light grey terracotta walls with a dark grey terracotta border, but recently I haven't been feeling the grey. I did decide to keep the light grey walls but freshened up the border, went with lighter furniture and a lighter floor:
BEFORE:
AFTER:
Iron farm
The Iron farm camouflage is also coming along nicely:
Also in the under-side of the main bridge Instead of logs right cross the horizontal I've broken it up (Which allow more light from the redstone lamps), and been adding upside down stairs to the under roof as well.
BEFORE:
AFTER:
Return to Mount DOOOooom
The main bulk of the work recently has been in the main throne room and the corridor off of it. Once again the stairs right in the center were in the way.
before:
So far:
Mostly detailing so far as you can see rather than furnishings. In the corridor off this room, I have been making the archways/alcoves proper arches, adding pillars between them, Linking pillars with some interesting cross sections, its's still quite cobbley but it is W.I.P.
St. Primus Church Station (I thought it about time the church had a name)
I decided to fix something that has been bothering me for a very long time at the station.
Before, When you got off from the underwater minecart tunnel rail line, you'd have to get off on the actual tracks and jump up onto the station side where you'd return home. I then changed it a long time ago, but then to go home you'd have to jump down onto the tracks and this bothered me. So thinking about real life UK stations (Where I'm based - the UK), I decided I had to build another platform on the other side, even if it was near the shore.
Another platform across where this flat wall is:
Also I would dig a bit of a corner out on the station side so I can link the launcher and collector which I planned on doing.
Result:
As you can see, when you leave the current side via the steps to the outside there;s now a little wooden over-pass to travel across to the opposite side and the new platform. Dispensers launch minecarts up onto the rail, upon returning; the cart hits the cactue and feeds into the hoppers travelling back through from the old platform side to the new side's dispenser. Simarlarly, For Mount DOOOooom's launcher at the station, the stopper uses hoppers to feed it back into the launcher.
I plan to do this with all station stops - Inside mount DOOOooom, at the start of the underwater minecart tunnel, The tunnel to the Halfway House station and maybe the end stop at the Halfway House station. Also the new minecart tunnel direct to the iron farm!
I'm making a mess!
The decoration will be a dark version of the one going to the Half-way House station except andesite bricks (Polished andesite) and blocks instead of the lighter diorite.
Added to which I've also been putting little colour blocks around with rail sign designations.
Very color coordinated and will be more appealing for the next release.
Currently I'm at the Chunk Plaza, which I held off on because I didn't like the texture of green terracotta. Green wool was too much and I thought green concrete was too light, turns out I was thinking of lime green concrete, so normal green concrete might be alright! About to find out having just collected two stacks of sand and am about to whip up a new batch of green concrete!

I really like the colors in the living area! And the color-coordinated station. It reminds me of when I visited Japan, on the ground in the metro of Osaka, colored lines led to the various lines. =D

Thanks Avion, I did a search for Osaka metro stations in Japan and I see what you mean! I was really happy with the way the living roomed turned out, the colors really pop, the light wood furniture makes a big difference too!
I decided last time folks, that once this thread gets to page 20, to celebrate I'll do a Q & A, ask me anything about this world!

That's so nice, I am happy the station is still as I remember it, it was fifteen years since I was there!
I haven't explored the latest update of your world yet! I am downloading it now, I want to see what is new and if I can come up with some fun questions!
Did you see the build I dedicated to you in Flower Valley yet? I wrote about it in this post. And the world has its first download now, it is around five months old now =D. I am on a brief break from building to create some characters for it, I want to combine building in Minecraft with drawing and writing a story or novel.
So the last D/L release was Easter, back in April, I'm not sure when the next one will be. Maybe a summer release in July or August, but I haven't decided yet.

Today while cleaning and sorting out stuff at home and in my garden a dog in the neighborhood that often barks incessantly for hours drove me nuts. I finally cursed and had enough and decided to just take my backpack and leave for the town library. What a relief! Now I am talking my first stroll through the Easter DL to relax and calm myself down.
First I went outside the main house, and noticed one thing you might want to fix, There seems to be dirt blocks missing here and there around the well. I suspect endermen. Especially where one piston is visible. Also around the two oak trees.
in my previous run through your world I didn't notice you had made a staircase using pistons!
As before, I really like the oriental garden, I would give the houses there some more love and instead of torches on the floor, perhaps make some lanterns hang from the ceiling, or stand in the corners.
I entered the art gallery, it sure is buzzing now! Again, just like IRL I feel so sensitive to all the noise and quickly escaped to the library! Am I developing some sort of claustrophobia or audiophobia? I hope it will pass!
Mount Doom looks great! You have a lot of interior to do! I think perhaps the staircase is a bit close to the tables in one of the rooms?
I like the old log kept in memorium at the end of the track to half-way house! That's where I ended up for now, I might walk around a bit more later.

I had a quick check tonight, and it seems sometime between the Easter release and now I has already fixed the missing grass blocks by the well - although I don't remember when! Enderman are the bane of my life! Creating potholes everywhere... Grrrr... Any rooms with lamps on the ground generally means it's still a work in progress, and only temporary.
I can't remember if the piston staircases were done in this release? I know currently, both sides have black carpets over the piston heads to emulate that "Esculator" feel, but I can't remember if I got it done in time for that release?
If you go inside the station house you can catch another minecart to the Half-way House, or if you walk round to the right of the outside of the station house you can go towards the Chunk Plaza development!

Great, I look forward to what you will make of the houses in the oriental garden! I have a very soft spot for oriental architecture. I even imported a japanese futon and tatami mats for my home to sleep, meditate, work and exercise on. =D
I missed that other minecart, I will go back and have a look around the Chunk Plaza!
After working on the infrastructure of the future "Throne room" last time, my work has shifted to the first back tower (Back left as you face DOOOooom), making sure it has a basic spruce floor and again doing edging on the walls (In cobblestone stairs) for the top and bottom of the walls to add depth. As well as starting on the lowest floor, I then also worked my way up and made sure every floor in this back tower (And the the very last fourth tower where the minecart line stops) has at least a very basic spruce floor and this edging.
I also embarked on something that was very long over due and made sure in the roofs of every corner tower to fill the holes in the roofs left for glowstone! Instead I used redstone lamps and reduced it to two on each side of each roof instead of three, making 8 redstone lamps for each roof tower and a toltal of 32 redstone lamps and daylight sensors that had to be made. At last however they are lit up!
I may also be addressing the hideous other chunk border near DOOOooom, seen here on my creative copy fenced off:
As you can see that is a major piece of land to deal with. I could just taper the end off near the shore - make it look natural, flatten the land and add splodges of low hill to make it look natural with lots of trees. However that is a good size of land and it might be a shame not to build there, but I'm not sure what as it would have to compliment DOOOooom.
I also just finished a quest to complete the map in the board room at DOOOooom!:
Rails system
I've also been making sure that every major minecart route has the linkage system, in that - they hit a cactus stopper that feeds into a hopper and back into the launcher next to the stopper such as St. Primus Station. The new tunnel to the iron farm now has it both ends, as does the end of the minecart line at Mount DOOOoom and the beginning station to the Half-way House station.
Speaking of the new line to the iron farm, it's still not decorated yet, but I have finally furnished that big old blue reception area that also is the entrance to the underwater minecart line.
Previously it was just a big old empty room:
Now it has furnishings:
I still have to get some blue wool to finish bits off where I can't have carpets due to Trapdoors and underneath stairs blocks, but at least it doesn't feel so empty any more.
Bits n Bobs
I've also doing a few bits here and there like adding a few details to the outside of the Half-way House and making it's outer windows a bit more interesting that now flat they were:
At the Chunk Plaza, I also tried that basic green concrete for the outside I mentioned before:
Shaders
Finally, I recently found out about BSL shaders on Reddit, so have been giving them a try:
Hopefully by the time you read this I will have edited it as the BB code on the board is still playing up.

Not so much of an update this fortnight because, there are a couple of announcements to be made,
1) The Next Download release
Is now scheduled for the beginning of August. This will give me the until the end of the month to go round and fix any inconsistencies and little odd jobs that need doing. (Such as removing the floating snow block in the church!) Already I have been making progress, after posting on the "What does your base look like" thread, I've already fixed the rest of the walls around the auto-smelters with a new lower wall trim border - and fixed the ceiling. I've also fixed the ceiling (I.E) replacing stone from the natural mountain that was always intended to be changed) from both the stairs down to the mob grinder and the back of the science lab hallways to the minecart exits.
BEFORE:
After:
I've also fixed a roof overhang to the right of the main home entrance that hangs over some wood stairs that go to round the back outside. Instead of wrapping the roof around from the front, I made a slight build adjustment with peaked roof, just this morning I completed more minecart stops with the interlinking minecart system (I.M.S.). The short one from the back of the science lab to the barn (Easy enough), and the end of the main route (Same area) by the platform which was more challenging as I had to build up more of an embankment. Both have cactus stoppers that feed the minecarts via hoppers into the launchers beside them for the return trip. The only one I think left now, is both ends of Mount DOOOooom bridge.
Before:
after:
The 1.13 announcement
For so very long I was unsure whether I would move this world to 1.13 or not. For a while I decided to stay in 1.12 - and I was fine with that, as "copies" of the world kept crashing in snapshots. For a long while those copied have been fine in later snapshots and so I have decided to commence with a plan I wish to put in place.
My plan' is to travel to the Nether to an extent that's far enough away for another portal to be built. Using a copy of the world I've tried it in the latest snapshots and have found the perfect place to put it. It does mean travelling to the end of the nether fortress, digging a shortish tunnel through a mountain, going across a big stretch of soul sand, carefully passing down a drop and past lava. Up a ridge and across to another section of another nether fortress to one of the upstairs enclosed rooms. This takes me to an entirely nice new chunk in 1.13. I was unsure at first, until the sea grass and kelp started spawning in.
Possible building sites:
The plan is to live in the brand new chunk(!) whilst still retaining easy access to the old world.
I'm not sure what I want yet, a standard build home, maybe an underwater home, maybe take inspiration from one who continually inspires me (Mumbo Jumbo) and build some sort of "Base" this time - either on land or water?! Get out of my comfort zone. You can see in picture #1 there's a lovely deep coral sea bed and it stretches for miles! No underwater temple unfortunately (The thing that might have really topped it off).
The idea of staying in the old world whilst still being able to access it, but relocate to a whole new chunk is very exciting!

Just a quick post to say things are going to schedule for the next early August download release, although it is dependent on the work by Mount DOOOooom.
Recently I moved my beacon temporarily to clear inside new builds at The Chunk Plaza, now I've moved it again to help clear the ugly chunk error mountain next to Mount DOOooom. I reckon i need to get to level 79 before I can begin working from the bottom up, and currently thanks to the beacon I'm at level #82 as of yesterday. I'm clearing a 3 block height across the mountain top each time. (Just the way I work)
There is another major renovation project I'm considering, but I might do that after the release as I will need to travel for materials. That being a possible make-over for the old Half-way House Station House. The build is okay, but for years it's been molded into the strange landmass that used to be there, It's okay - but it could be so much more. Some homes I really like the look of are Kerala homes, I even build one years ago on a creative section of a multiplayer server. So I was looking at one to possibly renovate the station house into.
I made this in creative on a creative copy of the world, here's what it may look like:
Although I have maybe 2 - 3 stacks of netherquartz left I would probably need more as it's an expensive build, it'd also need lots of white concrete, and clay balls for the basic terracotta on the lower floor. All things I would need to travel to get, hence IF I do do it, may not till after the next d/l release.

New mini-project || Villager Capping || Re-stocking

PMC's Pumpkin Carving Solo Contest Entry
Thanks Avion!

Infrastructure

The Announcements
The only one I think left now, is both ends of Mount DOOOooom bridge.

++ NOT AN UPDATE ++
