Recently, I went into the Nether to find a villager near the portal. I walked into him slowly so I could push him back into the portal, and the moment he touched the portal, he disappeared (most likely went back to the main world). Given that my Nether Portal was in a village, this didn't surprise me too much, but it was quite new. So far, I have seen pigmen come from the Nether to the main world, and I have seen a creeper come from the main world to the Nether. Can every mob go through a Nether Portal?

There are three types of entities that cannot go through portals.
Entities that destroy the portal upon contact such as the dragon can't go through it. Instead it will break the blocks as it flies through.
Entities that are riding other entities. If you put a saddle on a horse and try to ride through the portal, you will soon find that you go nowhere.
Projectiles such as arrows, fire charges, and thrown potions wont go through to the other side either
Baby zombies on a chicken: Nope can't do it.
Put something on a minecart: Won't work to well.
Minecarts themselves may or may not be able to, I haven't really tested with that.
Now, I say entities. An entity is anything in the world that isn't a block.
Items, Monsters, Players, EXP orbs, Arrows, Fire charges, etc.
So if you throw an item at the portal, it will go through.
Now, if an entity (not a player) goes through, it has a cool down before it can go through another portal.
minecarts do work theres a youtube vid on that being prooven secondly zobie pigmen yes magma cubes yes villagers yes but most likely to die lol. i can possibly say mostly anything smaller then the portal can go thru it but also entities on other entities will not go thru the portals as well..
I used leads and splash potions of fire resistance to haul a pair of mooshrooms back to my main base via the Nether once.
Do note that Zombie Pigmen can also spawn in portals in the Overworld, which is intended to make it look like they wandered in from the Nether.
