I was going for sort of a greek islands blue roof thing (was planning on maybe some jetties or small buildings on the water), but it just seems odd and off for some reason I can't put my finger on.

Przerwap, upon looking at some code I had just written: "...Gav... That's not how programming works."
I see what you mean.. the dark blue somewhat clashes on that shade of sandstone and isn't that pleasing to the eyes. Not sure why though, possibly the shade of the blue used in those times was just a shade or two lighter..
Hm, poorly researched on my part. I just looked up a couple quick photos and they happened to look more like the building in the background of that one (more brownish). Probably just weird lighting.
I am going to try the white wool and switch to the teal/cyan/whatever blue (lapis + bonemeal), and will post here again, since I assume it is of general interest which sorts of building materials look good together

1) Changed to painterly pack with smooth cloth textures, so the eye can interpret it as marbley stone or whitewash or painted roof tiles or whatever is needed.
2) Building is white not sandy
3) better light mod, otherwise the smooth cloth looks horrendous with minor lighting changes turning it into a terrible checkerboard of shadow.
Better?

Well, you already did what i would have told you to do... which would be to add a white platform.

Maybe you should go for a Tuscan look. Tannish-grey walls and red roofs.
You heard that, green and red.

It looks creamy or something.
