What was your biggest noob mistake when you first started playing minecraft? I remember way back when when I had just started out, I found diamond, and tried to mine it with a stone pickaxe, I mined the whole vein before I realized that I hadn't got any diamonds from it....
Not realizing I could eat pork anywhere. I thought I had to "use it" on a furnace (which was me right-clicking the furnace while holding pork, before that was fixed). This led to me carrying about a dozen furnaces around in case I met a monster.

Sanity is a carrot. You find it green and easy to find, but the deeper you go, it turns funny colors and narrows down to nothing.
My mistake was one of the first times I played and wanted to find diamond really bad. I started exploring a cave and came across stones I never saw before (obsidian). I thought it was diamond and began harvesting it, and after it broke I fell into the lava pool and died.
