So, in my actual world (for any of you who don't know, I am making RPGcraft, found here) I have started working on a house. My old one was small wood house, and it had a tunnel to my diamond mines (I found 16 of them!!!) and a staircase to my storage area. The backyard is completely fenced in and lit, with a reed farm in it.
I really had nothing to add too it, but really wanted to expand. Now before I say anything else, you should know two things:
-I ALWAYS build a house close (within 25 blocks) of my spawn so I don't have a long trek to it.
-A few of my friends and I have a minecraft "club" of sorts. We meet up every so often and play minecraft, showing each other what we have built
Now, as my friend was showing me the new house he was building for himself, I decided I would build one for myself. When I got home I went on my computer, started up minecraft, and went looking around my spawn for a mostly flat area. I found one that suited my needs, and marked the corners of my house. It grew larger each of the 3 times I tried to outline it. Then I chose the elevation of the house, and for the past 3 hours I have been making the house a level area to sit. I'm about halfway done. The house will be ENOURMOUS once it is complete, and I will be able to put anything and everything I want in it.
I will build the house out of smoothstone, I am using no hacks (following the rules of the "club") and am playing on peaceful (I play on easy, but it would take too long to build If I had monsters)
Enough talk, here is a picture of the area I am going to build on (I am standing on a torch marking one corner, and the other 3 torches mark the 3 other corners):
Sorry about it being nighttime, at least it helps you see the torches better
I may put the world up if anyone wants it before I start building.
Anyways, tell me what you think? I would love any suggestions, feedback or any OMFG HUUUGE!!!s anyone happens to have!
Thanks for any replies!
OkI just counted it up ansd it should be about 67x55 blocks, which means each floor will cost me 4661 stone for the outer wall and roof. Each floor will be 5 blocks high (4 tall plus one more for the roof)
This comes out to be 72 stacks of 64 roughly
Guessing the dimensions I'd say this is more of a large castle than a house.
I'd suggest keeping a Central Keep and several smaller buildings dedicated to certain things. (Such as: Storage, Forge, Greenhouse, Armory, Collection pool of any mob grinders/mob traps you have outside, etcetera.)
I drew that in like 5 seconds, so it looks crummy
I was thinking more of an open courtyard type area, similar to the roman forumsm if you get my refrence
Not very impressive. I've got 52, not counting the many tools I've made.
Edit:
Okay, your structure sounds cool, but a massive wall of cobblestone isn't gonna cut it. Maybe if you progressively made a series of towers with a large base, you could do something really impressive.

This man really is a genius. Never have i seen such a clear and well written forum post.
Oh, i started this world about a week ago, plus I had never found diamond before i made the new world.
Also, its going to be smoothstone, not cobblestone, filled with many rooms. It will be impressive in terms of size, but not so much asthetics. It will suit my needs, and that is just fine for me :smile.gif:
would be cool if you finished this. I was working on a giant house (100x80x50) and it was mainly wood and was going to act as a seaport. After I had collected like 2 chests full tree trunks and placed them all with only finishing like 1/2 of the outside, I quit.
I finished leveling the area for the house, and outlined 2 of the walls. I am going to build the back wall flat, but the front wall will be an half-circle type thing. It's hard to explain. Anyways, here is a picture with the dimensions (daytime yay!)
And in case the lines and words were obstructing your view:
i think you should make the bottom floor completly glass, with a hole down to bedrock underneath it. But you must leave all lava/water springs you find, and make all lava/water pools look like they are on a floating island.
That would look pretty awesome, But I have an idea for the floor. I call it "Open courtyard has grass, everything else is halfstep becuase they look nice and brighten stuff up"

What do you think so far?
You've got to be kidding me, that looks way too small to be 54 by 67
:biggrin.gif: I have faith in you! if I can dig a 45X64 stripmine down to bedrock I'm sure you can build a house this size... just what are you gonna put in it?
Wow I really like the oval shape to it. At first i wasn't to sure about making something that large and oval but it seems to be working. Keep up the good work. On a side note what are you going to do for the roof or are u going to leave it open?

This will take a while

Just a small suggestion.
