Mirror blocks could be remarkably useful, methinks. I think they would be awesome for making interesting lighting systems in dungeons and whatnot.
What are your thoughts?
If they reflect a diminished luminosity and diffused the light level that hits them, it could be kept from getting ridiculous.
It wouldn't fit the theme. Everything moves "per tile", as does light, for example, and a mirror would smoothly err.. mirror things. Dunno, just my opinion.

I agree

I love Blizzard, but god help me, WoW is a giant money engine that uses human souls as fuel.
I've been told that mirrors are not possible in Java. Errrmmm..
I find that hard to believe. 'Sides, they could use shadow map support in OpenGL 1.4 given how primitive the lighting model is in Minecraft.
I'd love to see them, but I'd think the only reflections possible would be at right angles to the zenith/nadier and the cardinal directions.
They said Moving Light wasnt possible in Java.
A Modder proved them wrong.
No he didn't. That light isn't moving, it just changes position with the player. So it's not like walking with a lantern in Amnesia: Dark Descent or with your headlamp on in S.T.A.L.K.E.R., it's just a regular Minecraft light, that changes position. (I'm not saying that mirrors can't be done, or that the moving torch mod wasn't cool (I used to use it, infact), just that it wasn't 'moving' in the sense you're thinking of)
I was thinking this could be cool. Another thing I thought might be interesting would be a light transmitting block, sort of like a fiberoptic thread. Or maybe if you were to run a redstone wire between 2 pieces of glass, they would transmit to eachother. It would be tricky to have make sense within the world though...

So, yeah. Minecraft is kind of like walking into a high-class auction with top security and a solid reputation only to find out that everyone else in the room is a mugger. Who explodes.
A mirror would be best implemented if it showed what was in front of it, facing away from it. as in, if a mirror is at the end of a hallway, it shows the hallway, but if the mirror is viewed from any angle, it still displays the hallway.
that being said, it'd still be pretty difficult to add in.

Haha. What a great idea! Much easier to implement than mirrors too. I agree though, would be hard to fit in into the Minecraft world.

For the lulz, creepers and/or ghasts shouldn't appear in mirrors.

Wouldn't think suck for the same reason Notch couldn't let us see through portals?
I agree

I bet they'd be great for your purposes.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
