You just put a repeater (or 2, I dunno how much one delays) between each music block, so each one has an increased delay from the last.
If he just said hes no good at redstone there is now way he will be able to hook it all up and delay it. Just put a pressure plate on top of the music blocks and run across the top.

Block 13 needs to be raised a semitone (one note higher, from an E to an F if I'm not mistaken :-p ), and you need a bit of work to fix up the ending but so far so good :-)
