There are quite a few mods to the game in the maps and modding section of the forum, that people would love to have as a default part of the game, like the creature and horse mod that adds tons of new animals and mobs!
I dont get why it would take notch and his team so long to implement ONE new mob that lives in water, and on the other hand, it seems ONE member of the community and produce a mod that creates like 15 new animals and mobs with actual unique behaviors to them!
NOTCH seriously, implant that mod into the game by default, and many other popular ones as well. Maybe even pay them off like $1000 for their work in making the mod, we know you have the money after minecraft exploded and got super popular.
This isnt a knock on notch, it just pains me to see people that are so skilled in making additions to the game that are just tossed to the side every time the game gets updated, and those people have to then go back and fix their mods to work on the new version of the game.
They are so talented to be able to add soooo much more to the game, to give it actual moving light sources, to make the graphics actually look better if you want, to introduce so many new mobs and wildlife, to create hunger and thirst systems, and on and on...
things that just ONE or TWO people have created, that notches team cant seem to do over the course of a year?! Hire these people for godsake. They have put out tons of content that could easily be plopped into the main game and would make it soo much more deep, even give toggles in the options if you dont want to untilzie those features. I just pooped my pants.

GENERATION 17: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation. Social experiment.
You need to have two major things before writing such a post: Common sense and a knowledge of what you are writing.
Let's see what notch does:
-Keeps support running with a team of 5 persons, of which maybe 1-2 have a few hours daily for such support tasks.
-Codes the game, fixes bugs, overall just doing what needs to be done.
-Runs a business. This means lots of thinking, meetings, paperwork etc.
-Runs a team. While not being a big challenge, it can take time to organize.
Now let's see what the modders does:
-Codes in their freetime, adding new features etc.
Can you spot the difference?
Yea, I can, the modders get more **** done in a day than Notch and his team does for a whole month. Why not hire them and have all that talent and content being pumped out faster?
Common sense would tell me the easier it is to get content in the game, the better, that means faster development and faster profit. Given he doesnt spend more on the new people than the amount that comes in. Hell the modders are already doing it FOR FREE, I am sure they would love to get paid even if it was just $50 a week for the amazing mods they make, if it meant they would be put into the game and not having to worry about updating it every time the game gets updated.
With that system, the modders get the recognition they deserve, and even some money from it, The players get tons of new content faster, and notch gets his game developed even faster, which means out of beta and the price can increase more and thus more money coming in.
Sounds like a win win win to me.

1. Overwhelming and the mo' creatures mod is pretty damn unbalanced because having 30 different monsters trying to rape you and spawning everywhere isn't too fun. especially ogres cuz they'll ruin your world like that.
2. Notch doesn't want to use unofficial conten that he didn't code.
3. PLENTY of glitches
4. not everyone wants those kinds of stuff in their game. can't just think about yourself THOUSANDS of people play this game.
5. The mods usually aren't even coded that well and are pretty bad in general.
If you like the mods then install them and leave notch alone. And while the modders do get alot done they would have nothing if notch didn't already code minecraft. You can't have mods without a game.
"tossed to the side every time the game gets updated"
That's exactly why he can't add mods to the game, they are developed by other people and programmed in many different ways, that's why there are mod conflicts with almost every new update, Notch can easily know what he did, how he programmed it and how things are going to react if he changes something, that's why everything made by him works after updates and most things made by others doesn't.
"Implement all the mods"
I'm sure he's not going to take the time to review every single mod to see if it can be fitted into the game and if you mean that he should add the best mods only, then which are the best?, everyone has a different opinion so it would be impossible to reach an agreement on which mods to add.
"it seems ONE member of the community and produce a mod that creates like 15 new animals and mobs with actual unique behaviors to them"
Notch is not god. There are many people more skilled than him and obviously with more free time, that we're lucky to have people like DrZhark who made an awesome mod doesn't mean that making a mod or adding anything at all to the game is easy.
Maybe you're just anxious to have an even better game but yours seems a lot like a troll post.

Yea, you're all correct, the game is perfect the way it is. Lets hope nothing else gets implemented or anything, god forbid we make things better by chance.
I sure can not wait for the next update....I mean we get a new mob guys! Can you believe that? A whole new mob, and it lives in water! I mean how the hell do they find the time to program all of that code into the game! It sure is baffling. Golly.
Problem?

I don't really understand why people on this forums constantly try to use arguments like these. Yes, Notch has work to do. The work he has to do is coding. The reason the modders code in their free time is because they have to do other things in order to make a living. Notch codes for a living. He has even more time available in a day than they do to do it with.
People don't seem to understand this, but as soon as Notch opened his game up to be purchased, as soon as he began selling it, he became responsible to other people. There's nothing wrong with coding games in your free time. Nothing wrong with making a game because you want to and you enjoy it. However once you start taking money and making statements, you have to live up to them. It's not unreasonable at all for people who've purchased a product which is in development to want to see continued improvements to it.
I don't have anything against Notch, he's made a great game, it's lots of fun, and I will continue to enjoy it. I just don't understand why so many people seem to think that Notch, who works as a programmer, shouldn't be expected to spend some time... you know, programming. He's taking money for the product now. That means he's taken a hobby and turned it into a business. Now he has to think about it as a responsibility.
You need to have two major things before writing such a post: Common sense and a knowledge of what you are writing.

No. Notch spends time fixing Bugs, and they spend their spare time creating content. Notch is going to start focusing more on content, but before Beta released he tried to spend most of his time on bug fixes, and after it released was the holidays. I don't care how much I like a game, I'm not gonna ask someone to not enjoy themselves during the holidays. Also, I wish people would stop saying he's a bad person because he doesn't do enough updates. You may dislike his development style, but he seems like a perfectly fine guy. I could have a good lunch with him.
I call troll. Mods are illegal, for one. Using mods in the game is also illegal. That's how copyright works. Notch is nice for letting people mod the game anyways. Notch fixes bugs, interacts with his family, keeps the work place together, does bills, adds content, works on promotions, and, this may be shocking, Has a life!
I'm a modder myself, (S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is the only series I mod, however) but I don't want my stuff being used in the game. My stuff variates the main experience, allowing you to keep a game fresh for much longer. That's what mods are, not just new content that you want to use every time you play said game (Well, there are a few that I like in every playthrough, but they aren't that common), but something to refresh the game.
Anyways, most of the mods this community are trash. There are about 10 good mods I've seen.
I've only recently began playing with mods, like Mo's and Humans+
I think they are cool, but if this was all added to the game at once I would probably have to stop playing. It is just too much at once!
There are hostile mobs which attack you during the daytime and sometimes they are in large groups! I can barely go outside. I don't want to have to hide inside 24/7 and only go outside if I have diamond armor on. In order to play with these mods on I have to make myself invincible. So I at least stand a chance of learning how to play with these mods on.
The main reason Notch doesn't update mods like these are simple, Many mods are just unbalanced and glitchy. My game runs way slower when I run these mods, especially when I'm around/trying to feed birds. All I hear when I have sounds on is SCREAMING and Footsteps and Ow! Ow! Ow!. It is just a blurred white noise that is irritating when it comes up.
I admit, simple additions like maybe the rabbits wouldn't harm anything, but those ogres wreck the game, they just aren't fun if they can run around and ravage my countryside.
As much as I like horses, they are also very buggy. I could see Notch adding a horse or two, but it is very complicated to have 8 with some overpowered abilities.
So I don't seem like a total pessimist, I do understand where you are coming from. I too, have been waiting around since November for real content releases. And when I see these mods like horses and humans, I wonder why he doesn't just do updates like these weekly. But then I really think about it. The game is fun and balanced right now. There isn't anything that makes it very unbalanced. But adding something like a new ore better than diamond really messes with how the game is suppose to be. It takes time to make sure these work and don't cause bugs on a massive scale, ESPECIALLY in SMP.
Just be patient. I'm also really excited for next weeks update, as it is the first content update for beta and in a few months. Hopefully, by what I understood via the blogpost, they HAVE been coding, but they needed to decided how to release it.
I bet we will start getting real content updates now, so lets just give it a week.

Have you ever stopped to think... and forget to start again?
Like a poster said before me, Ya bug fix and all are fun, but god we need new stuff...
I was playing alot before, but now i play rarely... a new mob may get my interest up and i don't feel like using mob.
I don't care if he gat a small team, paying some programmer is far more easy than what he maybe saying...
There's tonne of people that would be willing to go work for him, but is not employing people fast enough...
not all people like all mods. If YOU want them. YOU need to go download them. or program your own.

Yea, you're all correct, the game is perfect the way it is. Lets hope nothing else gets implemented or anything, god forbid we make things better by chance.
Oh I see, you're in "You're for my idea of adding all the mods into the game, or you're against any positive changes at all" false dichotomy mode. Awesome.
What's it like this time of year in Logical Fallacy Land? I hear the weather is always nice because the weather is always nice.

I have a fetish for women. Is this odd? Is there something wrong with me? It’s really bad, too. Like, everyone time one of them walks by, I do a sly little chest-rear ogle. I can’t stop myself! It’s like a disease!
Craigvis, I would like to propose a reasonable solution.
Find and download two unrelated mods, then wait until the next update.
Install the mods.
Fix the mods, so that they are compatible with each other and the update, and do it before the next update.
As cool as it would be to add some mods to the game in a fully supported mode, it's not exactly realistic. I would like the wildgrass mod, in order to have to explore grassy areas and to soften the landscape. I'm sure many would find it annoying, or distracting.
I think that it's preferable to have to download mods periodically rather than have some I don't want forced upon me.
Why? Simple, really: it's his game and he adds what he thinks would be fun.
That's a major factor, but like a poster above said, it would create a massive imbalance. If you had your way, I'm sure we'd all spawn with readily accessible jetpacks. Where's the fun in that? You could just fly around and look for a great spot. OR, you could play like Minecraft is meant to be played and explore like the defenseless human you are. Notch gave us peaceful mode for those who want to just mine and build, but Minecraft has and always will be about struggling to survive nights. I'll admit that Mo' Creatures and Humans+ look phenomenally awesome, but they would break the game. Hostile mobs during the day, a flying pegasus, block destroying ogres... None of that fits what Minecraft has established as a play style, no matter how awesome a fire-starting black pegasus is. Ultimately, Notch, the developer, calls the shots because he's the one keeping the game playable.

Ok, I get what you're saying. By hiring modders, Minecraft gets a whole lot of new content.
But are all modders looking for full-time work? Plus, it's not like if you get a lot of modders together, they'll give Minecraft a MMORPG's worth of content. They're called Modders for a reason- they modify Notch's original work.
Just download mods. Seriously, there's a lot of content to be found in them already. Not enough content for ya in those mods? You're getting greedy.
