I was in my nether room, which is very primitive, and I only spent 10 minutes on it. I was just on my way to place torches so mobs couldn't spawn in there, then I check my second portal and see
For some reason, when they are in a portal, whenever you touch them they hurt you, and if you hit them, they would charge at you.
BTW, don't trust torches to stop spawns in the Nether. Use a small room (less than 5x5x5 in one dimension at least) with a stone slab (half block, not doubled) floor.
