I've been shadowing the forums here for some time now since I started playing MC, and I thought it would be a good thing to add to my resolutions for 2011 to start getting involved more! So here goes...
I'm in the early stages of creating a massive city (2368x2368), and I'm taking a hybrid approach to construction. The infrastructure (metro rail, service tunnels, roads) is being done in MCEdit, and the real construction of gargantuan structures and the rest of the urban sprawl will be done in SMP.
I'd like to get some feedback on my current plans for laying out the infrastructure, particularly the metro rail. I'm not sure exactly how the actual stations are going to work yet (that's the subject of another thread!) Right now I'm concentrating on the routes and track layout. So without further ado, here's a 1:1 scale map of the planned metro. Each line is one chunk wide. Roads are in black (many of the road sections will be removed for larger districts).
Unfortunately the picture is too large, but I want to keep it intact to retain the dimensions for feedback in that regard. Here's a link to the PNG on my personal website:
