Quite a few things are a little off in my world. I spawned near 2 pretty large cliffs that look like chunk errors to start off, but then there is a large floating island that stays light even at night.
Large portions of my map remain lit during the night, however hostile mobs still spawn in them and don't burn.
There is an enormous natural lava waterfall next to a pretty large pumpkin patch.
Maybe the strangest of all however are the hostile mob actions. Zombies are in huge groups, spiders are on top of trees, skeletons hide in caves when day light comes and don't chase me unless I'm really close.
Also a friendly(ish?) creeper nearly made me jump off the cliff I'm clearing out. I was leveling the ground and all of a sudden I see the face :SSSS:. But it didnt chase after me. at first I thought maybe I was to far away, but it was staring directly at me, ten I thought maybe it was blocked by something so I cleared all the blocks out of it's way. It started jumping up and down but not going after me. I got right next to it and it hissed so i backed away and it didn't blow. I hit it with my sword and it just came back to where it was but still didn't go after me.
So obviously I went to give it a hug but it exploded. That was the first creeper that ever reached out for friendship, poor little guy.
I also encountered a mostly non-hostile skeleton but it did start shooting me when I got to close but it never chased after me.
I took pictures of everything I've stated if anyone doesn't believe me. I used the F1 F2 method so I'm not sure where they saved so if anyone wants to see them you gotta let me know how to locate those.
Anyway, I did create this world about an hour ago so it is a "beta" world. Anyone else have strange things happening?

The Minecraft term for using children as sex slaves is "griefing".
I call that the creeper-freeze disease. I believe it's caused from their body being partially composed of sulpher and their nervous systems glitching up due to that. The screenshots are located in your .minecraft folder in a folder named "screenshots"
I spawned at the mouth of a GIANT cave, but nothing as strange as this. I would very much like to see these pictures though.

No. It's a sandbox game. As long as you don't interfere with other people's enjoyment of the game, there is no reason to think that doing that would be cheating.
I have also experienced small areas of "daylight" during full night time with the new beta release. As I approach they turn back to night, doesn't appear to effect spawning nor damage to monsters in those areas.
To upload the images do i need to host them online somewhere or is there a function to attach the image straight from my PC? Pretty new to this :/
EDIT: I'm just hosting them online I should have some up in a little bit. I also forgot to mention I have torches in which the stick doesn't appear, but the flame and smoke does. This is only on the very top level of the cliff I'm on, and the torches just one level below are fine so I'm going to just say this is an uninteresting glitch.

This is the island/chunk error and some of the lit up landscape. I have more pictures of the surrounding area but not of the island, I'll have to head over there soon.
Well either Chad's back or ive found the friendliest creepers of the minecraft world.
I was mining out the cliff still but i looked away to watch the bears game, I look back and Chad's starring me in the face point blank, but not exploding or anything. WTF is going on here?
That alone is weird but my area is well lit and these creepers keep spawning.
This is what I turned my head back to, again scarring the heck out of me:
some of those you can remedy yourself. i think the mob AI was "improved" though, creepers and spiders seem to give me more trouble now when they arent glitching out.
for the floating islands and light at night you can hit esc. the problem is the current issue with slow chunk loading. if you hit esc it will update the chunk(by saving) and correct these errors. i had it happen multiple times while at "far" distance on "fancy" graphics, i changed it to "normal" with "fast" graphics and didnt have the problem any more. i also often had trees half loaded(just looked like half a tree) until i did the this.
the floating islands could always just be floating islands though, theres definitely some interesting stuff going on with the chunk generation in the beta...

This forum has made me decide that I now want kids, so that when they get old enough, I can forbid them from coming here. it's a terrible place.
yea something strane is going on with minecraft
i started a new world today and i found 2 dungeons VERY close to eachother (infact there were places where you could hear the noises from both the dungeons) the dungeons were both part of one mountain and were just a few blocks away from the surface
lava falls existed in alpha the reason why the one in your game is so huge is because of the landscape (the landscape detirmines how far will the lava flow if there is a sudden rise the lava will stop if it keeps going down at that rate the lava keep flowing until the landscape becomes flat or has a sudden rise)
about the friendly creeper i dont think its a beta only glitch i saw vids on youtube about creepers just standing arround instead of mooving and sometimes mobs ignored players
Now thats a chunk error. Holy cow O_o
Thanks for the addition btw, no one else is really talking about their strange happenings.
@Adversity
Yea sounds like you had similar problems I'll give it a try, the light at night is kind of annoying.
@notacreeper
Yea, I've been completely ignored by a skeleton, and those 2 creepers, but the zombies still have it out for me and either I'm getting soft from my non-hostile enemies, or the AI is better because I've had 3 sneak up on me.
Overall though my world is pretty damn interesting. Found a lava lake and forest fire off in the distance and more floating islands then I know what to do with. I also think there's a zombie dungeon near my spawn as I constantly hear zombie moans, but I haven't located it yet.
