Hey guys it's flazooni here with another amazing suggestion for minecraft: an online cape store.
Basically, it would like like the current merchandise store but you can buy capes similar to the ones you get at minecon. I'm guessing there would be many capes with different designs on each cape, and the prices would vary depending on how "cool" the cape is. Here is a list of capes I think would be pretty legit
Pig head cape: $5 A pink cape with a pig head Zombie head cape: $5 A green cape with a zombie head Enderman head cape:$10 A black-purple cape with an enderman head Wither cape: $20 A black-grey cape with a wither head
(there are of course many more capes but thats just what i have at the top of my head)
No support. Capes are supposed to be unique, and extremely rare for special players. If this gets added, people won't look twice when they see a cape on a server.
Mojang doesn't do anything that would make people have to pay more money just for a little something extra in the game. Well for minecraft at least, I don't know about their other games.) Not only that but the capes seem a bit overpriced, and "coolness" is in the eye of the beholder,so making capes more expensive based on their "coolness" isn't really a good idea.
No support. Capes should be for people who attend Minecon. I hope to some day add a cape to my character this way and would hate to see everyone under the sun get a cape by paying $5 bucks for one. If you really want one bad enough, go to Minecon, I know thats not something everyone can do but thats what makes capes so special.
Quick, everyone into the bunkers. Flazooni is BACK!
In all seriousness, this would degrade the value and prestige of capes as a whole if you could get them so easily. I would rather decorative clothing to be able to be traded with villagers (maybe a tailor?) that you could wear instead.
Would love to see this be an addition. Also, to address a few of the arguments against this..
"Capes should be special." Minecon capes aren't going to be purchasable.. So anyone that attended Minecon would still have a unique cape. Perhaps they could enhance the animation of Minecon capes or something to help them retain some value and purpose.
"Mojang is probably never going to charge extra for new features." Well, with the username change feature that's having early aspects implemented, I can't help but assume that the username changes will not be free.. So I'm seeing at least one purchasable feature inbound.

I can't argue the first point, although it would still degrade the value of having any type of cape. As for the second part, Marc has already said they almost certainly are not charging for user name changes, they are just putting a limitation on how often you can change your name and how many times you can change your name.

Ok, screw over all the people that spent a couple hundred dollars to travel the world to go to Minecon. Capes are for special occasions like Minecon or the 10 millionth buyer.
Seriously, people even offered way more to get a cape and Mojang still refused. They know it could be a huge profit, but they rejected the idea.
Capes are supposed to be a special thing for Minecraft. If everyone used their money to buy a cape from a legal store that sells them, then there is nothing special about owning a cape anymore, and there would be no need to go to Mine-con for the cape.
Coooooool! Another derpy derpy durr joke thread! Watch as the replies in this thread climb to the triple digit areas while flazooni doesn't return to this thread ever again. Or says more vague dumb stuff which is meant to be the "defense". These never get old!

Oh great. Another poor grasshopper, here to try his luck sailing the sea of suggestion making...
Let's examine your most recent "escapade", shall we?
Great job. Let's eliminate the need to attend minecon. After all, why go to minecon when you can just spend less than 1% of that trip money to buy a cape online? Excellent? And yeah, who cares about those minecon capes? I mean, they're just a load of crap, no one really looks at capes anymore since the new and excellent buy able capes came out. Besides what's with minecon anyways?mwhy not just annul the whole tradition, and stick to a simple celebration at home by finalizing a payment on paypal?
Buy a gift account for my friend? Nah, I could spend that money buying a cape for myself, a nice wither cape.
Sailing the sea of suggestion making, you're guaranteed to hit a few rough waves. But here, your ship is about to hit a whopping hurricane that'll pulverize everything your trade embargo stood for, because crappy suggestions are what they seem: crap.
The Suggestions forum section is for presenting and discussing ideas for vanilla Minecraft. This appears to be more of a web site suggestion and is also redundant.

thats all for now thanks.
I'm back from my hibernation. Most likely gone so don't pm me.
capes are special.. you buy them
You really...
Face to the palm
Also, this is NOT an amazing idea, this idea is poorly thought out and ridiculous. You want a cape, go to minecon.
Optifine capes aren't official, they are only for optifine users and only seen by optifine users
Sorry but No Support.
Critiquing is easy. Creating is difficult.
