I've only seen 3 cockroaches in my life, and only one of them was in the same island as me. If you would like to know my HUGELY DISGUSTING experience with one, please open this spoiler. (This is rated M!)
One day I woke up in the morning, walked out of the room, and I see ants, tons of them, all carrying around a cockroach. there were so many ants, that nobody would pick up the cockroach, so we had it sitting there all day while the ants ate it. Bleurgh! Right in the middle of the room!

I have a new account called "Mushroomsock" now, so please do not send me PMs.
Yes the potion makes people roach like, it also shrinks their screen and makes them move slower.Oh those statues are... pretty appealing and creative IMO.
And what use does it provide? It being "creative" is a null, empty reason.
Oh and the mob itself may prove to be a challenge in groups. Whatabout their lair made out of new blocks called amber? Comon man! You just dont wanna find appeal in this idea.
You haven't provided any benefits. All you said is that it's a "gross adventure" which isn't a benefit. It's a neutral attribute. Yeah, I'm sure I'm in a joke thread.

Hey, you there. Yes, you! Are you thinking about posting a suggestion on the forums anytime soon? If so, please read this before doing so.
I might have believed this if you hadn't dodged 0_Zippy's super simple question the first time, and then went "the reason it should be added in the game is because it's gross."
I don't think this is a bad idea at all. Minecraft is actually full of things that are gross, creepy, and scary. If you think about it, zombies are pretty gross; they're dead bodies after all. Anyone ever smell dead bodies? I remember being scared the first time I saw a zombie on survival mode, or when I heard spiders crawling and hissing on the roof of my first shelter. And what about creepers? You could just be moving along, minding your own business when suddenly BOOM! The next thing you know, you're looking at your death screen. It's definitely very startling. And I am totally not the only one that has had those type of experiences playing Minecraft survival the first few days.
Now what I am trying to say here is I think that roaches can actually fit in pretty well with the Minecraft survival experience. No one wants to touch or even see roaches, they make people grossed out just by looking at them in fact. And I know you'd be scared if you were walking around and suddenly a giant roach pounced on you. I think all the haters on this thread are just not thinking about it the right way, from the perspective of a person trying to survive in a scary world full of creepy crawlies and hordes of undead rotting corpses.
There's a couple things I would change about the implementation. One, I'm not sure they need armor. Generally roach enemies, while gross, aren't the sturdiest to begin with. Their main challenge should be sheer numbers. Possibly also speed, I don't know if you've tried to stomp on a roach that was running but they are fast little buggers. Even on easy mode, 12 hearts with a 53% damage reduction is like having 24 hearts instead. Second, I think that the potion of the vermin should just give E. Coli as the effect. Perhaps undead would be immune to it but everything else, including other players, would not like to be afflicted. Maybe just rename it 'Disease' cause E.Coli is a bit specific for something like this. I think that would fit Minecraft more than turning people into a bug cause there's nothing that changes people's texture yet, and is more complicated than it needs to be. Everything else I feel is a good idea. Mostly support.
EDIT: Adding new mobs and new generated structures for the player to discover is a benefit in and of itself. Not to mention new building blocks.
To those of you suggesting new uses for Emeralds in the suggestions forum: Emeralds have enough uses. You can trade with villagers to get diamond armor/tools/weapons and enchants. Stop suggesting that Emeralds are useless, and learn to play Minecraft. Thanks.
Even on easy mode, 12 hearts with a 53% damage reduction is like having 24 hearts instead.
They don't have 12 hearts on easy mode, they have 7 (and it's 52% damage reduction, not 53%, though that barely makes a difference). Even on Hard and Hardcore, they only have 10.
Also, there are already tons of mobs that rely on numbers for strength (which don't do much to help them anyway). Zombies create more of themselves if you aggro them but are relatively weak individually (and in a group for that matter, zombies are not strong at all). Silverfish attack you in swarms but have such pitiful stats that they are never a challenge.
And what use does it provide? It being "creative" is a null, empty reason.
If your talking about the statues, they give you benefits for finding them. And the new amber blocks could be used for building.
You haven't provided any benefits. All you said is that it's a "gross adventure" which isn't a benefit. It's a neutral attribute. Yeah, I'm sure I'm in a joke thread.
Okay yeah bad word choice and kinda vague sorry. But here is a list of what my idea provides:
new mob that may be a challenge in packs
new creative potion that is made from a drop of the new mob
new generated underground structure (with loot)
new blocks (amber)
those statues that give you a bonus only found in the roach lairs
As opposed to going "roaches should be in the game cuz they're gross ew ew ew you guys!"?
I didn't think this thread was serious for a second.
That is now what i meant. Yeah they are gross. But so are zombies. You know? They are the kind of thing that you dont want to run in to....repulsive if you will.
Edit: The whole reason i said the appeal is "gross adventure" is because thats kind of what the category is you know? It improves adventure, and their gross!

It may but is it really necessary? I can think of many other, simpler, ways to increase exploration that do not require the creation of a new mod, that is very similar to a spider
Dude, half of all the popular suggestions on the website arent needed.
Where spiders needed? Nope.
Where silverfish needed? Nope.
Dude, come on.
That is now what i meant. Yeah they are gross. But so are zombies. You know? They are the kind of thing that you dont want to run in to....repulsive if you will.
You actually make an excellent point here. We do have giant spiders and zombie pigmen. You win there, I retract that statement.
Though you're associating roaches with amber and statues?

Yeah. I was just going to make this idea about roaches, but i think it would be a better idea if their was more.....maybe the roaches are hiding something. Who and why made those roach statues?...
I like the feel of mystery in this idea, so many other things the devs can add like this.
Ok, then lets add giant sea creatures that do absolutely nothing for the game, just cause a ton of lag.
Ok, what exactly is your definition of "doing something for the game"? What, a new
cave mob and a new structure to explore, adding some new reasons to go adventuring
and a new monster to challenge you on your adventures, which gives us a new
potion, does nothing at all for the game in your opinion? What should we be suggesting, avocados?
Should nothing ever be added to the game again because it "isn't needed"?
hmmm i don't know why would i like roaches in the game and... why are they stronger than spiders? makes no sense! besides the game already has a roach-like monster wich is called silverfish, i mean if you just changed the model of silverfish to a roach it would make alot more sense IMO... so nah
Dude, half of all the popular suggestions on the website arent needed.

no, they were added to bring more levels of difficulty and kinds of mobs that would attack in a different way than the others.
Silverfish for example ambush you in groups while hiding in blocks on the stronghold
Spiders are a mob that can climb up your fences or walls and jump on you (poison you too if cavespiders)
roaches on the other hand are pretty umm... just another hostile mob that goes around and kills you, and also they seem pretty overpowered too... i mean 7 roaches in a lair dealing 3 hearts damage each (and putting a disease on u that makes u weaker) attacking you at the same time? lolz
if there were roaches in minecraft , like i said they should be like silverfish and come in lots, but be very weak, and well you can keep that E. coli disease effect. then it would be sort of OK.
hallelujah! Thank god your on my level and taking me seriously. Thank you god almighty for sending this angle to me!
That's right, the almighty sent this angel for you. And then opened a trap door so he could fall all that way down to your level - presumably though, as that angel still had to climb down a bit of scaffolding and then he reached your level.
But seriously. I honestly would have considered this idea if not for the "potion of vermin" thing. That just screams "I'm not being serious!" The roaches alone are... interesting. And I think I have just enough optimism for the strange statues, but the potion? Come on man.
No Support.
