INTRODUCTION
Have you been listening to C418 new Volume Beta and wondered why there's only few songs that are in-game (and some playing ONLY in menu/creative?). Have you never thought that the Minecraft music is good but get boring after hours and hours of play time? I've listened well to all the work of C418 Minecraft music and tried to separate them into style; trying to make them fit into biomes, classify them. All music should be played depending on what biome you are currently playing in Minecraft. Just like Nether and The End have they own music, some biomes should have they own too!
SUMMARY
Sort and add all C418 Minecraft music into the game to create biome music list for a more immersive gameplay. Add more action sounds, more atmosphere sounds and so many more ideas...
NEWS
You can listen to the track I edited on the section Volume Beta. Just press the icon !
SIGNATURE
You can add the following code to your signature to support the idea!
All reasons why Mojang should do the Music Update.
Few Volume Beta tracks are already playing in the menu and in creative mode, but the goal of the Music Update is to add all tracks from Alpha and Beta Volume into the survival mode.
Add more atmosphere sounds to Minecraft.
All these suggestions would add more depth and life to the biomes.
Stop the repeatitive music.
Give more credit to C418.
NOTES
Specifications and limitations of the topic.
English is not my main language, so i'm trying my best to be clear as possible.
This update should not remove all current songs.
This update should not create a complete new sound system; the goal is to add a selection system based on the classification of the rhythm and style of the music.
Music doesn't change after starting playing, if you were in a specific biome, the music will play until the end even if you change biome within that time.
Lots of soundtrack from Beta Volume should be edited because they lenght is too long or have different tempo/sound style. I tried to separate them to make more music for specific Biome instead of a very long song that never ends.
Some music don't really fit in-game, so they should be added through Music Discs.
There is no need to sort a song for all biomes, the goal here is class all current available music (with sound editing if needed: cut and fade only)
Mojang should add an option to add your personnal music and make it play if needed.
SUGGESTIONS ADDED
Better suggestions can be added/removed
Calm1.ogg (Alias Minecraft from Alpha Volume) should be the only Menu music and the reasons are easy: First, because nobody stays in the menu for ever just to listen to the new tracks. And second, End.ogg (Alias The End from Beta Volume) music creates a reference to this track. So playing Calm1.ogg in Menu will create a callback to End.ogg track.
Add C418's BandCamp and website to the Minecraft Menu, Website and Store for more visibility.
Bring back Notch’s song Calm4.ogg into the game as Boss Battle music.
Add more atmosphere sounds (Winds, waterfalls, birds, cave sounds, night sounds (criquets, owls, gloomy wind sounds, etc.)
Add a wind sound loop at high level on mountain.
Add a wind sound loop when in Blizzard/Snow weather.
MUSIC CLASS AND TRIGGERS
How it would work in more details:
Trigger music depending on what biome you are currently walking
Trigger music when detecting a boss battle (If running away, the Battle Music fades away)
Trigger music when Wither or Ender Dragon is dead.
Trigger music when you enter the Nether for the first time
Music is in repeat in The End
Trigger music when going to sleep (To not be too annoying, this music has 50% chance to play)
Trigger music when discovering something for the first time (Like a Stronghold, Village, Pyramid, Mineshaft, Temple, Monument, etc.)
Trigger music while death (Music fade out if respawn or quit game. To not be too annoying, this music has 50% chance to play)
Add new discs (Getting them by discovering Dungeons, Pyramid, Stronghold, Ocean Monument, etc.)
INFORMATION ABOUT THE CLASSIFICATION
Class type will help to categorize tracks by rhythms and style. The selection will be done by looking at these class. There should be two kind of classification: Biome class and Trigger class. The Trigger class have 100% chance to be selected. The Biome class have 60% more chance to be selected than the normal Overworld music.

Okay... I always thought 100% chance of biome music would be cool, but then we'd need to fix the abrupt CUT to other music when you cross over biomes, you know?
Also more actual discs (DISKS, ARGH) would be better.

100% chance of biome music would be cool, but would be annoying if you stay for a very long time in the biome: There would be like only 2 songs playing in loop. Adding more chance to play new musics and less chance of playing old music would be better i think.
And this pattern could be used again if C418 create more music.
We'd need to fix the abrupt CUT to other music when you cross over biomes.
In fact, when the music start to play, the music won't change if you change from biomes:
The selection is made from what Biome you were in, then the music plays and stop when music is completly played. Even if you change of Biome.
Also more actual discs (DISKS, ARGH) would be better.
More discs would be good, but only with songs that doesn't fit well Minecraft.

I agree, we need to have more music. Music is one thing in a video game that I treasure. Also, re-adding this, Calm 4 (?), a song that Notch made himself. Maybe for like the End battle or something, and once you beat the Ender dragon., they can add a calm theme. It'll give out that huge aftermathish/relieved feeling.
I believe Notch once had it in game but removed it, but now they have music better sorted out and more experienced, they should put it back in. I adore it!
No it doesn't.
Map makers make maps, they don't write code for the vanilla game.
Well, this topic is more about adding the music C418 made for Minecraft than adding personnal music that could be played with your own music player. Adding personnal music to Minecraft sound more like a Ressource Pack to me or a map that use specific music/soundtrack added for this.

That would be nice to have back Calm 4 too! Mojang should at least add this soundtrack as a Overworld music or a Disc that would be difficult to earn!
A music update ? Im sorry, but alot of players wont accept that. Most of them already have their panties in a knot because 1.8 is a map maker update..
well speak of the devil !
Yes it would be helpfull for mapmakers, but also for alot of other people.
i love playing my own music while survivaling, so i would love having it added in the game it self.
anyway, i support this idea anyway.
I believe that 1.8 will mostly be an API update, but it's still too early to juge what 1.8 will really be.
Still, the idea of putting your own music in the game is a great idea, but not what I suggest here. But Mojang could and should prepare the java coding for that too.

As for the suggestion, seems nice, I guess I'll support it!
BTW, I think Mojang should also add c418's BandCamp and website to the Homepage and the Store.
