So i know that they're not plenty of mods for 1.7.4 yet. But they should be easier to install. I was installing the TMI (Too Many Items) mod yesterday and i realized, mods have gotten really hard to install. back in like, 1.5 all i had to do was drag the files into the archive and done. but now we have to like, go into versions and change the names of folders, and archives, then put the files in the archive, and change your profile. which could be difficult for some people. We should have a folder called "Mods" and put the files in there. then minecraft can put the rest of the files where they need to be. this might take a lot of programming but i think its worth a shot. it takes away Modloader and Forge and all the other complicated stuff
Honestly, I think it's easier now. There's an installer for Forge and you just have to click Install and it automatically makes a profile for you. Back in 1.5, it was drag, drop, delete, run, exit check it's working properly, drag mods into folder or jar, which makes it more complicated. Now it's just install, drag mods into folder, change version, run.
Also, this is redundant. A thread with the exact same idea is found here.
