iron bars are....basicly....bars no? so what do bars have?
Gaps, the idea is extremely simple and i a not asking for any type of new crafting recipe.
the idea is:
by pressing "Q" next to an iron bar, the item thrown will actually go through, though it acts also like a solid block, for players can not pass through, the only mob who can pass through iron bars would be ocelets, for....you know...cats....they pass through little spaces because....you know they are thin and furry!
Here is a list of what can go through iron bars.
items,
small mobs (silverfish, ocelets and any size of slime)
arrows
snowballs
projectiles basicly
now for a few newer properties :
explosion damage go through iron bars more easily.
a tiny bit more resistent
even if arrows can pass through bars damaging whoever is behind the bars, you can not hit people with melee damage and weapons.
its only just adding a few new properties, nothing too hard to do...right?
anyways thank you for reading, i hope to get good comments and suggestions o how i could improve this orr just simply comment below if you like it or not
anyways also water and lava would pass through iron bars, here is a list of what can go through iron bars.
items,
liquids (water, lava)
small mobs (silverfish and ocelets)
arrows
snowballs
anything launched from dispensers except enteties (primed TNT, minecarts, hostile mobs, ecc.)
Ocelots and Silverfish? yeah ok, what about small slimes as well?
Ok... so by arrows and snowballs you mean their projected type right? (not their item type) if that's the case then I think it should have a 50/50 chance of passing threw because of the bars (that or like a 2/3rd's of a chance).
(Side thought: I was also thinking that liquid could move threw hoppers)

The explosion bit makes sense. I think it would be more interesting if mobs could punch you threw iron bars, for example: when in a stronghold you come across a zombie flailing it's arms out at you from within a cell, so you have to avoid it (maybe it could look like your hand is sticking threw the bars on animation), but I do agree that items shouldn't be allowed to hit threw iron bars (especially pickaxes).

hmmmm, I beg to differ but we should hear that from someone with programming experience.
All an All: I don't find it too game changing, but can be beneficial for map makers, and if possessing mobs is ever added I can see someone taking control of cat to move you threw iron bars.
Also silly thought? what if the iron bars could connect horizontally? that way you could accidentally drop your keys threw a drain pipe

slimes should totally pass through bars, i just forget to mention them, from big, to small slimes.
and even better if they have their own animation where they squeeze through.
and for the silly final partit would actually be interesting being able to place them horizontally, especially because if you try to fill up a hole in the ceiling with one its just ugly.

I like this idea, however, water and lava would not work, and also, some of your wording is a little confusing. I'll explain below. Also, would it go through only in the gaps, or always?
the idea is:
by pressing "Q" next to an iron bar, Just say items, since they aren't always thrown.
items,
liquids (water, lava)
small mobs (silverfish, ocelets and any size of slime)
arrows
snowballs
anything launched from dispensers except enteties (primed TNT, minecarts, hostile mobs, ecc.) Dropped items are entities, just call them item entities. And what about droppers?
I know I am being a little bit fussy, but it just bothers me.
I like this idea, it'd allow iron bars to be more versatile when making some sort of sewer sorting system. Try saying "sewer sorting system" three times fast.

Not that hard.
Also, water and lava would actually work if iron bars act as a non-solid block for water.
I think this idea is redundant, but regardless I fully support. It adds a lot of possibilities.
wait redundant? excuse me if im wrong but...i checked and i havent seen any posts like this one...correct me if im wrong...or mabey i just dont know how to use the search bar...

Lol, my slight accent must make it harder for me to say then.
