Hello once again Minecraft Forum! Recently, Some friends and I have been discussing The Nether. This lead me to generating some ideas of my own, such as Fire Friendly Blazes and a new Blaze Health System.
Fire Friendly Blazes
Allow me to continue deeper, We all know that Blazes (as well as other Nether Mobs) are invincible to Lava and Fire.. but I have considered taking that into deeper effect with blazes in specific. Its concept is simple and easy to understand, for each time a blaze would take fire damage (As if they were susceptible to fire), they would heal their health for that amount. So for each 'hit' of fire damage it would heal for that exact amount.
Naturally, the regeneration could not be applied from the Blaze's natural fire from their aggressive state. This can only be applied when the player uses a Flame Bow or Fire Aspect Sword against the vile creature, rendering the process not impossible but much slower and less efficient, especially in a bow shootout where the Blaze has more time to retreat and heal from the applied Fire healing. This healing is much like how the Damage Potions heal the Undead, except Fire and Blazes.
This would render new strategies to the Blaze fighting system. At the current moment, Fire aspect would not be wise against an Endermen, as they would constantly teleport everywhere from the Fire Damage. Now, Fire Aspect wouldn't be wise against Blazes. It isn't fully needed to not use a non-Fire Aspect Sword/Flame Bow but is not recommended.
Of course, this brings the topic of Lava and it's Fire properties. The fire damage should be applied to the blaze if they happened to pass through a lavafall/pool/lake, although if they rest in the lava it would have to be debatable. Under certain world generations this may make the Blaze much harder and more of a challenge to beat, which would agitate the players who think they already need to be nerfed and strike pride into the warriors who like a challenge, So it works both ways.
Blaze Health System?
This part of the suggestions is more of a visual representation of the Blaze's health much like the Dog's Visual tail health system rather than a system that actually changes gameplay. Their bodies are made up of a head atop a central column of smoke, and three rotating sections. Each rotating section contains four floating yellow rods. I propose a new system to the blaze's sections and rods that show their health aswell as apply a fun visual whilst fighting a Blaze. It's current health is 20 ( × 10).
For this suggestions I propose that each rod could represent 2 ( × 1) which would make the new blaze have 3 rotating sections containing 3 rods. When the Blaze gets harmed with damage worth 1 heart, it would lose the equivalent of 1 heart (2 damage) (which would be 1 rod) and would take 1 from a section, then a different section, then the last section. After this, It repeats. It takes another rod from the first section, then the second and finally the last.
By the time they have taken 19 damage, all of it's rods would be depleted. By this time it will be just the head floating upon the column of smoke beneath it. This way, you could see your progress whilst fighting the blaze by taking a glance at it's rods that orbit it. It would not effect gameplay but would be a tool to help the player and a nice combat visual.
So, when the blaze is depleted of it's health... it will die. (well, what did you expect?). I think that when it dies, it will leave a faint smokey effect as if it's column of smoke was dying off. It would not last long, and could be turned off or minimized through Particles Setting in the option menu. It could help add to the visual effects of the fight and be pleasing and realistic to an extent. (Because Blazes aren't real, obviously, this is a realistic as it could get).
So, I hope you enjoyed my suggestions. I don't think this would be considered a wishlist as it contains suggestions relating to the same content. Anywho, Opinions, Reviews and Suggestions welcome!

@Blaze HP system: No. You should never modify the model of a mob unless it changes mob behavior somehow (Wither half HP). That is just a waste of processor power. Besides, have you considered that some mapmakers might want to modify the Blaze's max HP?
I don't really see a need for these changes. It is fairly unlikely that a Blaze will wander into Fire or Lava on its own unless in direct melee combat (which you already negate by saying Fire made by Blazes doesn't heal them) and using a Fire enchanted weapon in the Nether is already a bad idea because it doesn't do extra damage. Making it even less useful won't matter as any intelligent player wouldn't use it there anyways.
I actually like changing the models as they get damaged. Just not enough to say it should be added. If most hostile mobs did similar things I would be okay with it.

@Fire Friendly Blazes: huh?
@Blaze HP system: The model of the mob would seem close to unchanged, almost unnoticeable. The current number and sectioning of blaze's rods is not able to be used to my idea (as far as I know). Also, if the Blaze's max HP was modified then anything above 10 wouldn't be vanilla anyhow, so that'd be different. Much like have a giant zombie (which I know isn't vanilla) and giving it 1 heart.

Some people create 'god' swords and they seem to sometimes have Fire Aspect on them because people see it as a threat as they don't know the true statistics and effectiveness of it. If they were to carry this into the nether, they could very well use a Sharpness 5 and Fire Aspect 2 Sword. The Sharpness and damage of the sword will still be applied but the Fire Aspect would be ignored, besides the Blazes.

@Blaze Hp system: the blaze losses a rod everytime is takes 1/10 of its health based off of what I read so if you increased health (or decreased it) it would still loss a rod every time it losses 1/10 of its health (if you made its health 30 it would just loss a rod every 3 hps instead of every 2 hps
Blazes should also spawn from fire, in the nether, if a fire block is left alone with all 4 sides as fire, in the overworld, where the above pattern is struck by lightning. Also, blazes struck by lightning while in fire should become fire tornadoes, which are ultra fast, spread fire beneath them, are huge, and are immune to rain.
Fire Friendly blazes seems like a good idea. However, it would be good if their behavior was modified to travel to lava when their health became low.
The model idea is also great. To make the model change worth the proccesor power, blazes change when their model changes. A blaze starts with 3 rods an loses 1 everytime its health is reduced by 7. The number of fires that a blaze shoots out before its cooldown is dependant on the rods it has. This would make gameplay more interesting.
