The inventory controls have been drastically improved for minecraft and they're almost perfect. the one thing that annoys me is that when trying to make large quantities of items in a crafting table, and your using a stack of each item, you have to drag each stack into place manually. I know its not much, but it is enough to annoy me.
so what is the solution? well you probably guessed from the title. adding in a simple control that makes it so holding shift and left clicking puts the items directly into the crafting grid, starting at the top-left, then the top-middle, the top-right, the middle-left, and so on. Shift left clicking an item already in the crafting grid sends it to your inventory again.
its a simple problem, that I imagine many people would like resolved, and a simple solution, so please support this idea, and say why you don't like it, if you don't.

I do not care about your dragon, I will not click it, it is not real, and I hope it dies in a fire.
This would present much more problems then it would solve. I mean, the most things you are going to need are 9 items. I think you can not be lazy and put them there. I mean, things like raw wood would be cool. But things like a sword would just be annoying. I would rather grab the things in my inventory, and put them there, then shift click them, and have to put them in the right order. It isn't really that hard. This would cause a lot of problems. Also, what is the point. If you just shift-click something as you see it, until the grid is completely full, then you will completely have to reorganize it in the grid, and it would probably take as long as it would to find all the things and put them in the right places manually. So no support.
