The buff from the food should be more substantial though maybe one hunger bar and perhaps the meat could be used in a potion to make an 8min potion of creeper repellent.
Would make a cat farm more useful than just plastering (lag causing) cat entities all over the place to keep creepers away from a base.
I think kittens should have 100% drop for 4 of said meats, or a more powerful item.
Edit: Kitten hearts. No idea what benefit they would have but I love the idea of kitten hearts as a drop.
Very hard to tell if OP was serious or trolling, but hey...
While I am not against the idea - there's not much which can offend me when it comes to entertainment - I do think it best to err on the side of caution with ideas that push the boundaries of many peoples' comfort zones. No support.

Because you wonder how I could talk about money, girls, clothes God and history all in the same sentence You know what all those things have in common Only half the truth, if you tell it
I do find it a bit funny that people go out of their way to say they don't support this simply because they find they idea of eating cats gross. Do you want to know something? I keep chickens as pets. In fact, I love chickens, occasionally I let them inside my house. But I still eat chicken, because if I didn't then every chicken who was ever chopped up and processed so that I could eat it would have died for nothing.
I don't exactly support this idea though, because if you want my opinion then cat meat would probably taste terrible. Like eating the distilled essence of some jerk who loves to knock your favorite lamp over all the time and mess up you keyboard while your tyinkergreping.

It tastes like venison. Which sort of tastes of kangaroo meat. Which sort of tastes like beef. Which sort of tastes like pork. Which sort of tastes like chicken.
how can it cause problems!??! players already kill cow, pigs, and chickens for meat...
Yeah, they do.
So let's just add human meat, some people IRL eat other people so there's no reason not to add it by the logic you've used. Human meat would be obtained from villagers and players and would restore 2 hunger if uncooked with 20% chance of poisoning, and once cooked would give you 5 hunger points.

Yes!
Both of these make sense by the logic you're using. Some people around the world are cannibals, so there's no reason not to add it if it makes sense to add cat meat because some people do it.
Also: Higher drop rate for killing a tamed cat.
Still no support, just commenting to say why people don't support this, as some of them are doing a really bad job at explaining.

No support, it allows for farms that make you Creeper repellent forever. Mob immunity is NOT something that should be farmed. And I like farming and mechanic exploitation, so if I think this is OP, you know that this is is OP.
Blaze farm + slime farm = immunity to fire, including mobs that attack with fire (though not melee attacks, like contact with blazes). Total immunity ("hey, that lava looks like a nice place to swim in"), despite the "resistance" name (there are threads on the OP-ness of fire resistance; for comparison, Fire Protection armor limits protection to 96% with diamond and lava destroys armor FAST). Of course, in this case it wouldn't stop creepers from exploding if you ran into/fell on one (not actually sure, but they normally stop moving before they explode, and may still start the countdown if you get too close; people have reported them blowing up around cats).
Still, the whole idea of cat meat is nasty. Perhaps ocelot meat might work but you still get cats from them (by this logic there should also be wolf/dog meat).
Of course, the game already does have "human" meat as noted by others; zombies certainly do resemble Steve in clothing and body, not to mention zombie villagers can be converted into villagers.

so whats your op on this suggestion? good, bad, indifferent?
PETA is a joke, they spend more money on spoofing games and protesting than they do on actually helping animals.
PETA? what are they gonna do? Splash red paint on something? Maybe make a poorly made gorey parody of MC? Despite the huge hype around PETA, they're nothing compared to A.L.F. and A.R.M.
To add onto my original post, a cat/ocelot doesn't even sound like a viable food source. Minecraft cats are one of the smallest mobs in the game, outclassed barely by silverfish. Not to mention it's probably all muscle. I doubt it would be worth it at all to find these rare mobs just for the meat.

Pointing out fallacies to undermine an argument is also a fallacy...

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

No offense.
OMG peta is doing anything! what do you know about this! Do you like whatch peta TV or do stuff like that.
Even if peta dpesnt do anything the SPCA and ASPCA would be very ticked at you.
(why shouldnt we be able to eat glass? or dirt? people eat that too?)
Cats are domesticated animals just like the most common meat producing animals (cow, pig).
Edible meat is present on every living animal, even humans (not supporting cannibalism, but you get the point)
The western world != the whole world.
