Stealthy
Are you tired of mobs seeing you from a distance, even though their backs were turned?
Well this idea can help with that!
INTRODUCING THE STEALTH SYSTEM
This new mechanic is just like shifting, but you go out being unnoticed by mobs! (to balance this effect, you can still be seen by other players, and you walk a little slower then if you were originally shifting.)
What this mechanic does is that when you double tap SHIFT, you will start to walk slower and your vision becomes more "zoomed in," this is because you are focused and want to get the target.
No to mention when your in stealth mode, you don't make a sound. When you attack a player/mob, you stealthy behaviors goes away, just like if you got hit while sprinting. Players can obviously rebind this key in the menu.
Now hand-in-hand with this new system can be a mob detection mechanic. This new system is similar to GTA V police, only when you are in the mobs line of sight, will they will start to attack you. With this system, players can sneak past enemies in hopes of not getting noticed. Now to some people, this can get annoying when they are trying to capture the attention of mobs, so to turn this off, simply type the command /gamerule mobDetection true/false. | or another way this can go is that player detection only works by difficulty.
Peaceful: No mob detection mechanic
Easy, Normal, Hard: Yes mob detection mechanic.
Now to balance the effect, I said that you will move slower than if you were shifting, and you will have your vision zoomed in to act is if you were "focusing" on your target, but have limited vision.
Servers with the aim of not using this system can easily disable this mechanic (just like disabling sprint).
Multiplayer servers can implement this new mechanic into a mini-game.
Some ideas include: MERCS VS. SPIES (just like in the game Splinter Cell)
-Spies must complete an objective while mercs protect the objective. Maps will be dark, except around the objective. Spies will have weak weapons, but have that stealth ability and Mercs will be loaded with weapons, but move very slowly.
MOB ARENA 2.0
-Instead of a mob arena caged in, this new game is a open world, multiple player mob arena that uses both of the mechanics said above. Players can go loud and crazy and catch the attention of other mobs or take the stealthy route and take out a mob one by one without a sound.
THE HUNTER
-There is one person with the ability to sneak and become virtually "invisible" when it comes to this game. Like the GMOD game, your job as the hunter, kill everyone and everything. Soldiers were deployed to investigate the site, and their job is to kill you! Will you kill the hunter? Or will you become hunted.

This mechanic is mainly used to escape the range of enemy view. While in "stealth mode," enemies detection range would be shorter than if you weren't in stealth mode. But if the enemies back is facing you, then you can sneak up on them, using the mechanic, and kill them. Even though Minecraft enemies are pretty easy to kill, the stealth mode will allow you to escape an unneeded encounter with mobs.
Obviously you can counter-balance this feature from being obsolete. I wholeheartedly support this, but all Robert has to do is to propose some more mechanics to counter-balance from this to be OP.
Even if you don't like this feature, at least there would be a command to switch this to the "simple" sneak feature currently in Minecraft.
Again, good idea. It expands the sneak feature to be a little bit more useful, especially if you're at half a heart.

If you reread the article, you will find that there has been a modification in the balancing of this mechanic
I would defiantly like some kind of stealth feature in the game. Maybe you could add something to make it useful in PVP combat as well, like making the player harder to see? Other than that...

I support!
It would be very hard to pillar up even if only two skeletons are shooting at you.
Digging down would also be a problem if there are some creepers nearby.
