so once you look at the basic "stone" for the Nether, it's called Netherack, which sounds like Nether rock, right? well since we're making puns here, I thought it would be nice to introduce Bedrack to the nether instead of it being bedrock.
why? just to make the Nether more unique I suppose, also its texture would fit in better with the netherack.
Bedrack replaces the bedrock of the Nether, it behaves EXACTLY like bedrock, and it's texture is dark red to fit in with the netherack, yet still being distinguishable between the two.
pretty much the only difference is it's name an texture.

Meh, don't care if it is added but don't see a reason to add it.

Guess bedrock already does the job it has to do, it serves as boundary so players dont go legitimately (that means also without exploits, bugs etc) to the top of the nether or fall into the void in both realms (overworld and nether) so i guess is pretty much unneeded. Another thing to point out is that bedrock is mainly a functional block and not much an aesthetic block, it just block and its mainly burried by many layers of block and its pretty much hidden most of times.
Like every other block.
let's look at sandstone for example. it serves the same purpose as stone, but it's their anyway, for atheistic reasons.
The difference is that sandstone and stone CAN be mined and CAN be placed on legit ways and bedrock not so it stays where it is, plus stone and sandstone are way more abundant in Minecraft worlds.
I can do the same question: Why they should be aesthetic blocks? You can rarely can see them and if you cant mine it in survival or you can mine it but it doesnt drop a thing in creative. The only way to place it and give it some kind of "aesthetic use" is on creative mode and most of times is for what it does: stop players from passing through it, for example Jails on servers and adventure maps.

Sandstone and stone: they are both stone serving the same purpose, being ascetic for there location.

it doesn't have to be a mineable block to be an ascetic one. so what if you can't place it, it still fits in.
red goes with red, that's just how it is, also red is the Nethers theme.
Well I have always liked to imagine that the reason for the nether is because you can't go any deeper in the overworld. The achievement is called "we need to go deeper". So I thought of the bedrock as the boundary between the overworld and the nether. That accounts for the bedrock at the top of the nether. As for the bottom of the nether, I could support a texture change. It would be really easy to do; I'd suggest using metadata.
Sandstone and stone: they are both stone serving the same purpose.
bedrock and bedrack: they are both stone serving the same purpose.
see where I'm getting at now?
Honestly? No, I dont have a clue because for me you are going around and around. Look, Stone and sandstone are filling components bedrock is a boundary component. So....?

My point is that you almost cant even see it, so why change it? ill go with the same "arguments" you give me. You sound like you have a fixed idea and want this really bad more than giving me real arguments against mine... look, i dont share your idea and thats it, if they do it id be glad but i think its something that isnt really a priority...
I like this idea. Just because msot of the people above me didn't like me, does not change the fact I think it is good. I am not afraid of being "ostracized" for not agreeing with the majority crowd, and I feel no pressure to lie because someone said something somewhat valid for the criticism of this idea, and thus compelling me to think it would be bad.
Unfortunately, this is a good idea, and there's not really anything anyone can do to stop it.

I'm not going "around and around" If we're speaking in metaphors I'm standing still you just can't see where!
The concept is good, unfortunately it is the distinct color that is differentiated in the nether, and gives its uniqueness compared to everything else. It does make sense to change its texture, however. Still, I would like to easily tell between the surrounding netherrack and said bedrack.
Here is how I picture this new block, no more, no less. If there happens to be a change between how well you can tell between netherrack and bedrock, then you lose my support.

agree. being able to distinguish between neatherack and bedrack should be a must.

It seems like you didn't work very hard on the picture by just morphing netherrack and bedrock, and to tell the truth it doesn't look good at all. I think Bedrack should just be red bedrock, still giving it the ability for someone to know that it's bedrock, but instead a variation of it. This just looks ugly. +1 for the effort, but truthfully no.
It seems like you half-assed the picture by just morphing netherrack and bedrock, and to tell the truth it doesn't look good at all. This just looks ugly. +1 for the effort, but truthfully no.
I only liked it because it backed up what Spaceboot1 said. if we're not going with that logic (which we don't really have to go with anyway), then I'ed like what you're suggesting.

Do you really think I was trying? I was implying a concept, a concept waiting to be properly developed. Of course the image isn't good, may as well be insulting to the eyes. It is not my job to create the most beautiful bedrack you've ever seen, but rather just a depiction of what I was proposing to the proposer. Red bedrock is just lazy, and lacks originality. It is just as you call it; red bedrock, not some nether variation. Also, consider the fact that we are looking at netherrack and bedrock, two of the most unappealing blocks in the game. What would you expect?

just because it's not "their" doesn't mean it shouldn't be touched upon. I agree, it's a very small change but sometimes small changes are nice.
I have given real argument > why should it be antithetic? because red is the Nethers theme.

Also Nether brick and Lava. wow... just 5 things, doesn't really seem like it though.
oh wait, mushrooms.
