Chair: A chair is made of wooden sticks and wooden planks:

Sitting in a chair increases the rate at which time passes by 400%.
Sometimes you need the game to go faster without actually needing to pass from daytime to night (sleeping in a bed doesn't actually increase time, it just sets darkness to day without actually changing time). There are times when I would like to make time pass faster and this would do just the trick.
This kind of sounds... Laggy (hold on yoshi9048 I have my reasons).
I'll put it this way. Currently the game operates at 20 ticks per second, which is enough for the game to process things fairly well on a decent computer. However, the Chair would make the game operate at 80 ticks per second, as well as increase the speed mobs move and many other things that happen behind the scenes. If your computer has issues running Minecraft now, or even if it doesn't, chances are this would really strain your computer.

well, I hadn't thought of the strain on the computer (though the chair would likely function in multiplayer like it does with beds (ie. everyone needs to be sitting in a chair for it to work)
but, for things like a monster XP spawner, having a chair would help
It sounds like you and yoshi have some... problems with each other.
Nope, we have a mutual agreement that it is an awful idea to say an idea will cause lag unless you also have reasoning to back it up. It was more of an inside joke.

It's the lagument! RAAAAGGGGGEEE!!! *destroys Tokyo... again*
No, just kidding.
Actually, it MIGHT be an ok idea if implemented differently than BP proposes; but either idea would cause some pretty strange and wonky behaviour.
Badprenup (I shorten it to BP on occasion and hope he doesn't mind) offers that 20 ticks would be increased to 80 which would cause some pretty insane local behavior.
I suggest that 4 ticks are skipped/ignored, so you're seeing ticks 1, 5, 9, 13, and 17 of minecraft (or: 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20) which would also cause some pretty insane local behavior but would be far more forgiving on the system.
In either case, it's a hard sale as you can potentially blow far more time than if you were to simply sleep alone.
With that said, no support simply because it would cause some pretty erratic behavior that beds wouldn't offer. Also, no support because there's a far better mechanic that chairs could have which is slowing the rate that hunger/saturation is consumed.
I think this would cause issues on multiplayer because every player would have to be sitting in a chair for this to work, and it would kick some people off because of their CPU abilities.

Do you sit on a chair? Yes.
Do you sleep on a bed? Yes.
Absolutely no support since they are for sitting, not sleeping, and there's a far better mechanic that reduces hunger rates.
