My suggestion is that there is a button in the options where you first create a world that allows you to make it so that only one biome spawns. The way of choosing the biome is similar of choosing the theme of a superflat. This would be cool for building adventure maps that take place in specific biomes, surviving in extremes such as deserts and ice plains, and for adding new kinds of special biomes (See Below)
The advantage that this has over superflat that is customized to fit a biome is that terrain elevation variation is kept as well as technical biomes (Rivers and such). There could also be a biome for selection called "Underground", where the entire height limit is filled with stone, ores, and all things found bellow ground including caverns, making a kind of ultimate mining experience for any player. You also could set up the end as a biome, where there is elevation variation, and the obsidian spires spawn. This would make killing the ender dragon next to nearly impossible to kill, but would be interesting to survive in. The nether would extend through the full game height as well. There could also be an urban biome for this specific world type that spawns a basic city that stretches endlessly with the same amount of detail as a village (Basic indoor décor) and buildings that do not stretch over five stories, giving an apocalyptic feel and a place of exploration.
