I think my eyes are bleeding. anyway this is the most pointless suggestion I've ever seen. Let's remove the fancy graphics option, people can see you when you're behind leaves but you can't see them. Let's remove texture packs, people can change the block textures and they will not see it same as you do. Let's remove skins, people can make them different too.
personally I love playing on moody, but not everyone does! so don't change it for everyone.
what I'ed recommend is: Only have it preeminently moody on hard core mode, for those who like it tougher like you an I.

First to start off with:
It's an option. Options are optional, you can customize your game."Ooh, I like moody. It makes the game more fun!" "I would like to see things better, and it feels better for my eyes" Different people and different opinions.
And if you feel like a real miner, go and put it on dark. Other people maybe would not, they can choose for theirselves.
And second,
I don't think Mojang would delete any option or feature without a good reason too,
besides... well... never mind, you know who.
so you are telling us how we should play the game? No....just no....just keep your brightness on mood. Don't ruin it for everyone else who enjoys brightness
I like to play with moody brightness. But youtube videos are impossible to watch in dark areas with moody lighting. So youtubers turn up the brightness. I like the fact that they can customize their game to make it easier for their viewers to watch. No support

I have a plasma monitor in a very well lit house. On brightness moody I have trouble seeing in the day time. This does not need to be removed, or else im going to have to give up minecraft (the horror).
They need to remove the brightness option A.S.A.P!
No, just no. Mojang does NOT need to remove this as soon as possible. And you want to force other people who don't want moody brightness to use it? No. Just use moody brightness. Sorry, but I have to give this a No support.

You may see me on the Suggestions, Off-Topic, and Survival Mode areas. If you have a question, PM me!
Ya. I always play with brightness bright and I am completely satisfied with it. So if you remove it then I would be left drinking potions of night vision because I like to play in creative and build stuff. Sorry if my opinion is biased.

try to guess the password! I like the End. What is wrong with liking the end?
All of this assuming that if the brightness option were taken away, people wouldn't just turn their monitor's brightness level up? And just a tip: suggestions for removing the ability for players to customize their gaming experience usually don't turn out well.
Also, please stop using Comic Sans. A wise man once told me Comic Sans is the typefont of sarcasm. And it's also incredibly annoying, especially when blue-colored and/or bold.
HEY! while you are at trying to get brightness removed, try getting tiny, and normal render distance removed, along with fast graphics. Minecraft is so much more immerse on far and fancy!
People play on brightness for a reason. Me for example, I need the brightness option for when I make a YouTube videos. Removing this would cause waay more controversy then if it stayed. 0% support.
It's obvious that you did'nt buy the game in Alpha state. The brightness option was demanded and demanded and begged, for almost a year. The reason if that some peoples had a certain display on their screen that made the night pitch black outside caves. So inside cave it was totally impossible to play. Some peoples had to stop playing until the brightness option was added.
What's really silly about the whole thing, of course, is that the brightness adjustment in the game (yes, correctly called gamma) is just a convenience for players. Most video drivers nowadays can set your monitor brightness to anything you want, even on a per-program basis. If you want to do it the hard way, you can push buttons on your monitor. Because I do a lot of graphics work (I'm a website designer IRL) and I need exact color/brightness replication, I have a little monitor calibrator which, aside from setting my default settings to what they "should" be (according to its little electric eye) can set them to anything else I think they ought to be. The only advantage of that setting in the Minecraft client is that it's right there, and you can tweak it until the game looks the way you want, with no need to deal with video drivers, monitor controls, or a gadget like mine.
But what it really comes down to is what I railed against in my post about making Minecraft harder -- or not: Everybody has their own way to play. Some people want to play hardcore, permadeath, no regen, and gloomy. Some people want peaceful. Some people want something in between. Some people want to farm endermen, and others want to farm roses. And it should not matter to anyone how anyone else (or anyone else not on their server, in the case of multiplayer) plays. As I've said elsewhere, does it affect your game of Solitaire if Matilda Grundy of Peoria sneaks a peek at her face-down cards once in a while? Not a chance. And it doesn't affect your game of Minecraft if Mrs. Grundy's 4-year-old wants to play it his way, or her 16-year-old wants to play it totally differently (though swirlies may be given in the Grundy household). Do your own thing, and be thankful that you're playing a game that lets you. Most don't.
Remember: anyone who has the power to make other people do what you want has the power to make you do what other people want. And the odds are not good that what they want is going to be what you were hoping for.
Here's the most import point: The only reason it's called brightness is because lots of children play this game. The proper term for the option should be gamma. Gamma is used so that people with low rightness monitors can actually play. It's even called gamma in the options.
I think it's a combination of brightness and gamma. But, I'm not going to lie, I'm not totally sure what gamma is.

As for the suggestion itself: Stay away from my options menu. It's mine, not yours.

Oh yeah, you could also just increase your screen brightness.

No support. Let people choose how they play.
