Hi everyone! It has been so long since I wanted to post a thread or reply, so long in fact that I forgot my account and had to make a new one.. And now I am nothing but a Newly Spawned.
But today I wanted to share a suggestion that I had in my mind for a long time! A suggestion that I'm sure not all would like but at least some might have to yearning for it!
Short story short:A New dynamic mob that would populate user created buildings.
Now, some would be ready to jump on the gun and say, " We already have villagers, what is the need for it?"
Well, this new mob has a different focus and function in the game. This mob is geared towards end-game content when the Ender Dragon is defeated.
The mob in question is not like the villagers. They do not trade, nor do they wonder around without a purpose.
This new mob would have a varying roles and requirements.
And how do they appear you might ask:
At the end of the game when you collect the Ender Dragon Egg, This egg can be used to act as a summoning item when placed on an altar with an expensive recipe.
Working like a Beacon, when you right click it, it would give you the option to summon the new mob and it's role. Roles would be generalized roles such as Farmers, Guard, Enchantress and Alchemist. Roles like miners and settlers would be omitted to prevent unwanted griefing and expansion.
Each roles would require varying amounts of resources to spawn and will be moderately expensive. These new mob with varying roles will then find a suitable home with the equipment they need (Ie; An enchantress would look for an enchanting table) within a 250 block radius and settle there. Those who can't find a suitable home would eventually die however could be kept alive if you throw food and potions at it.
The returns for these mobs would be little. Serving as End game content, their purpose would be to liven up your created cities and towns by creating an artificial sense of commerce and interaction. Hence, returns of their roles would be little so as to be enough to keep you alive but not enough for you to horde chests full of items.
This would give the possibilities of adding ambient city sounds, conflict and interaction between varying roles mobs and would also give life to cities in creative modes where they feel barren and isolated.
But what would the mob look like?
This would be left to the hands of the design team and the community. Since this mob is to be summoned, it can come from any dimension. They can be humans, aliens, mini centaurs or a cute minion!
All in all, Minecraft is a sandbox building game. where users create, survive and strive. However, I feel that our creations should continue with a purpose once we are done with it instead of simply leaving it empty. Villagers won't use the farm you left, nor the alchemy set and definitely not the enchanting table!
This new mob would give life to our worlds and especially flesh out worlds in creative modes.
Now you.
I know this is not the best idea in the world and it definitely needs more fleshing out to be game ready. Instead of simply ignoring or bashing this idea, please give alternatives and improvements that you think would suit best.
I would like to also add that if you do not wish to use this mob in a particular save file, you can simply not spawn them into the world since they can only appear when summoned.
PS: I actually wanted to place bigger emphasis on the new mobs conflict and interaction between each other but felt that things should be taken one at a time.
