We know how ocean biomes have seen updates in the new snapshot, 12w36a and b, and that there are many variants of oceans, including frozen ocean, deep ocean, and regular ocean. Well, what if oceans had an other variant of them called shallow ocean? These would be oceans found only near land, probably closer than 100 blocks away from any biome above sea level. they would extend further out than the "beach" technical biomes, and extend as far as the beginning of the ocean, They would slope down slower than regular ocean biomes slope from land, and would be about 10-15 blocks deep. They could also naturally generate around oceans, possibly making "shelfs" or when 2 of them meet together, they would make "undersea trenches." This biome I plan to add into minecraft by the next few snapshots, and get Notch's attention by then.
