I really wish that villages would spawn in more than a handfull of biomes. I do understand aligning those village in extreme terrian is a pain. What I suggest isnt any easier, but here it is. When a village is placed inside a extreme biome, depending on the biome they will have special traits that keep it from being swallowed or misformed and of course have the appearence to fit the area. But spawn less often than other villages. Infact i suggest dialing down the spawn rate of the current villages, or make it configuable.
Such as: Extreme Hieghts(any biome with inconsistant hieghts): Flatten/Round terrian with in 2-4 blocks of hieght, or have special overhangs, for buildings and roads to properly connect the buildings. With 'Brick/Cobblestone/etc' supports built in on any building that requires it, or mined into the hillside, with 'Brick/Cobblestone/etc' walls and torches to light it up.
Heavy Forests(any biome with heavy tree coverage): Destroy all trees within certain radius of buildings and roads, and flatten terrain as needed.
Forest Extreme Hights: Blending the two above, or just make Extreme Hieghts also remove trees nearby?
Water(Ocean,Swamp): Long wooden supports(fence posts?) to sea bottom on all buildings, and the occational latter on some roads to the water, completing some/all roads with ramps that dip into the water for easy entry access.
Underground(any): (This would be my favorite one if added.) They would only have a small building on the surface, with a spiral staircase down to the main village, aprox 10-20 blocks down. The village would basically be inside a large mined out cavern 6-10 blocks or air above floor level, in which a normal village resides, and possiably connected to underground mineshafts or other cave diving wonders. Houses would not have fully steeped roofing, and any section of the cave ceiling that was exposed to the sun would be covered in glass. And village would be sporatically lite with torches, making visiting this places to be dangerous.(I would actually prefer this be spawned in the nether, or both, with pigman villagers, and clumps of sunstone instead of glass on ceilings)
Also farms should varry from place to place. Village should only grow or raise 1-2 types of things.
Having only 1 animal pen, maybe:
(very common)Chicken, Pig
(Uncommon)Cows, Sheep
(Rare)Horses, Fishing Nets(auto catches 1 fish every few minutes or so if empty)
(Very Rare)Wolves, Cats
And growing upto 2 types of crops:
Wheat, Carrots, Potato, Sugar, Mushroom, Melon, Pumpkins, etc
