Minecraft is a very fun game that anyone could enjoy with enough time. However, the game doesn't seem to have too much personality (Villagers and the Jockey mobs are quirky though). With my idea, certain mobs get special animations for certain events and times. These animations will add atmosphere and personality to these mobs. If the player provokes a mob when the animation is playing (or if the mob becomes hostile) it will stop the animation.
Passive Mobs
The Chicken
The Chicken flaps its wings as it falls, making this a unique mob. However, when it lays an Egg, it doesn't feel right to me. I suggest the Chicken flaps its wings as the Egg appears (Nothing too special).
The Pig
I think the Pig should sometimes extend its nose and width and length. This could occur when the Pig makes a snorting sound.
The Villager
Now, the Villager is a very fun mob with its Squidward-like nose and the robes it wears. However, they don't seem very lifelike (Although they now grunt now). I suggest the Villager may sometimes hold out a certain object depending on what color robe it wears. When it holds out the object, it will make three quick muffles and than put it away.
Brown Robes/Farmer= Wheat or Seeds.
White Robes/Librarian= Paper, Book, or a Bookshelf.
Pink Robes/Priest= Glowstone, Bottle o' Enchanting, or an Eye of Ender.
Black Apron/Blacksmith= Iron Tools (Not a Sword).
White Apron/Butcher= Steak
The Mooshroom
I think the Mooshroom should rarely shake its body around, dropping 0-1 Red Mushroom and the Mushrooms on its back shake as well.
Neutral Mobs
Enderman
The Enderman is a very unique mob for its looks, abilities, and even its inspiration. If the Enderman would receive some personality, it could become even more special. I suggest the Enderman may turn its head at approaching mobs and may bend over to look at the mobs more clearly.
Hostile Mobs
Creeper
I suggest the Creeper may emit smoke from its eyes and mouth and make a small hiss sound. When it does this, nearby Cows, Pigs, Skeletons, and Villagers will run away (if it can). In order to do this, the Creeper must be surrounded by this kinds of mobs. This gives Iron Golems a reason to attack them.
Skeleton
For me, the Skeleton is a very interesting mob and one of my favorites in design. I think the Skeleton may take out an Arrow and use its Bow as a string-like instrument for a short time (Players can hear the song from 20 blocks away). In order to do this, it must be near 2 other Skeletons, it must be in a Ravine, Dungeon, Stronghold, or at night. If it is near a siege on an NPC Village, it will create a loud pitch on the Bow that can be heard from 50 blocks away and may attract Zombies from 20 blocks away. This gives Iron Golems a reason to attack them.
Wither Skeleton
I think the Wither Skeleton should very rarely dip its Stone Sword in nearby Lava (this will not hurt the mob). When it removes the sword, it will glow an orange-red color. The Wither Skeleton will than jump up in excitement and wave the sword around it begins to fade back to gray. After it is done switching to gray, the Wither Skeleton will look at the sword and than act normal again.
