Ever wanted your sword or tool to be unique? Customizable names not good enough for you? Here's something you'll love.
With this, you will be able customize your sword in the way you like with dyes.
Orange Dye - Desert Camo
Yellow Dye - Cyborg Camo
Cyan Dye - Aqua Camo
Blue Dye - Blue Tiger Camo
Black Dye - KFC Camo
Magenta Dye - Party Rock Camo
Red Dye - Rogue Camo
Pink Dye - Kawaii Camo
Green Dye - Benjamins Camo
Light Grey Dye - Siberia Camo
Diamond Dye - Diamond Camo
Iron Dye - Carbon Fibre Camo
Gold Dye - Gold Camo
You may be wondering: "Diamond, iron, and gold dye? What's that?" It's a new dye that can be created by smelting a piece of iron, gold, or a diamond! Use this to add these new camos to your tools and weapons.
problem with this it would be abused some guy could dye a daimond sword green and say this is my green wood sword and totally beat the crap out of you no support unless there is a way to tell the differance

Then again, you should never be decieved by someone in PvP.
For example, a green camo would be a tint, not a complete dye. You could still see the resemblance of a wood sword, just the wood would appear greened.
Putting Call of Duty and COD is awesome as your tags is generally a really really bad idea. Immediately I don't want to support this, cause I freaking hate Call of Duty and the plague of a community that spawns from it.
In my opinion this would make it easy to disguise what kind of weapon you're wielding (dye a wooden sword light blue, you have a fake diamond sword, or vise versa), or for that matter armour. No support.

Don't be mad that cyan-dyed leather armor tricks you and gets you killed.

Because people totally couldn't just... you know... hold an actual wooden sword and then switch to diamond when you approach them.
Diamond/Iron/Gold dye wouldn't work. The dye's use a half-byte (4 bits) so they can only hold 16 colors. The current colors are all we have until/unless the color indicator gets a larger memory slot.
Then again, you only used 13 colors. This would be doable if you just used existing dyes.
That said, I hope this doesn't become part of core minecraft, maybe a mod?

They wouldn't be dyes per se, but crafting them together with a sword would create a new, camouflaged weapon.

Let's see what's wrong with your post...
Trapped chests can be used to deceive you.
Redstone contraptions in general can deceive you.
Invisibility can deceive you.
Dyed leather armour can deceive you.
Dark areas can deceive you.
ANYONE in general can deceive you.
Your logic implies that anything that can be used in a negative way must be removed from the game.
To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
I don't think so. Look at his other threads: he mentioned Call of Duty in most of them. As well as a few tags saying cod is awesome, callow duty etc, I think he is a CoD worshipped.

Sniped me, dangit... I just happened to notice the tags as soon as I scrolled up the page.

Where would the dye be? The blade? The handle?
An alternate timeline emerges.
However, we must first start from the beginning...
The only way this could be better is if you could have separate dyes for the blade and handle...

So mentioning anything that's in CoD makes you a CoD worshipper now? He's just using them as examples. Never mind, noticed the tags...Anyway, I like this idea. Perhaps dyed tools could be limited to wooden tools? They're the equivalent of leather armor, which can already be dyed.
Sniped me, dangit... I just happened to notice the tags as soon as I scrolled up the page.
look at the forged swords suggestion...
in my opinion i would completely prefer forged swords instead of this...
