My suggestion is simple enough & I think everyone will like it.
So, you're on your favorite SMP server & you've just made yourself a bed, you plonk that sucker down & right click it. As usual, you lie down but something different happens. You are presented with the option of entering your very own creative mode world.
Get where I'm going with this?
Wait, there's more.
In addition to the ability to enter creative mode through the use of a bed, SMP players would be able to create adventure maps & share their creations with other players on the server.
The ability to download your creations is a given.
I think I got the general concept down. All those in favor say aye.
What if I (theoretically) have a server with 100+ players daily? The game would have to make new worlds for each unique player, and each new world makes more and more lag, leading up to the point of the server being closed due to the server being lagfest.
No support.
redundant and pointless. I would dislike to be on a SMP server and then get stuck in a creative world. I would just want to get back to playing in the real world which actually matters.

Yeah... About that...
How's that gonna work for a server with like 200 people? The downloading creations thing... That means someone could save the building of an entire house or mound of TNT ready for griefing.

Here's what I think. The idea is very bad and too complicated to appeal. Now, I *could* see an interesting "dream" factor where instead of going into some self-generated world to create, you went into a dream like land where everything was really off-key to the game's reality, and like a dream, you would be pulled out of it when day comes. It'd be a fun, interesting thing, that I'm sure someone could do something interesting with, but as for your idea, No support. Sorry.
This idea I do not like. If I were to implement anything like this idea it would be as follows:
It would be a single new dimension, that all players share.
It would be 100% the server's choice if this exists. There would be a new line in the server properties file called dream-world. If set to false the dream world cannot be entered and anyone who was in the dream world when this is changed would be moved to their real bed automatically.
It would be Creative only. It doesn't matter if you are on Hardcore in the real world, the dream world is Creative
No mobs spawn in the dream world, but they can be added with spawn eggs.
It would be flatland generation with grass at level 32. Everything below would be dirt and everything above would be air.
You have a separate inventory in this world, you cannot bring things back and forth between the two.
You can enter the dimension at any time while laying in a bed, and you can return to the regular world via placing a bed in the dream world and laying in it
That way it would be a realm just for fooling around or testing things. It would honestly be more of a debug room than an actual feature.

I totally agree. Separate dimensions for each player would break and lag so many things that the game would essentially break.
I can't really see any times I would use this, either.
