The fact that it has a unique mechanic. The fact that it fits with Minecraft by using existing pieces in a unique way. The fact that it doesn't try to emulate some other video game.
So the mere the fact that this is unique automatically makes this "better than 90% of suggestions here"? I didn't know logic worked like that. I have an idea too, it's a helicopter made of clouds that randomly pass by and drop concrete tree saplings. It's unique, so I'm already ahead of the suggestion curve. Because herpy Spaceboot logic.
The fact that it doesn't try to give you something cheap by bypassing existing restrictions. The fact that it doesn't attempt to circumvent intended gameplay.
Actually, it doesn't, because no one's gonna be dumb enough to spend hours moving this horrible ore to shape a house. I'm gonna do us both a favor and make this my last post in this thread, because we'll go in an endless argument loop that just fuels you and leaves you snickering behind your keyboard in the end.

Hey, you there. Yes, you! Are you thinking about posting a suggestion on the forums anytime soon? If so, please read this before doing so.
Wrong. It would be useable against creepers. It would be useful in machines, especially ones that use TNT. It would be an interesting obstacle for those exploring Disco Hills. It would be different. The problem with Minecraft is all the blocks work the same, which is boring! This would add some interest and some spice. And don't tell me how annoying it is! If you hate being inconvenienced, don't play SSP. Don't even play creative mode. Play Minecraft via MCEdit if you hate it so much!
Malicious griefers, that's one thing. Kick 'em off if you have to. I'm okay with that. But there are servers that allow griefing, that see griefing and avoiding griefing as a part of the gameplay. You accuse me of ignoring some players needs, but here you are ignoring huge segments of the player base who are playing Minecraft as intended.
If everybody on this thread thought it was a good idea to go jump off a bridge, would you do it?
The fact is, most of them are reacting out of pure spite and stubbornness. They're not even content to leave it at "not for me" (although some are, and I respectfully disagree with them). They have to make statements like "worst suggestion ever". As if it's some huge affront that a block like this could ever be allowed to exist in Minecraft. Look, if you think Minecraft is perfect and nothing should be changed, and everything should work exactly how it already works, then the Suggestions forum is not going to be a happy place for you, and I Suggest that you go elsewhere, for the sake of your own sanity.
That article is poorly written. Nicely formatted, but the ideas in it are garbage. It's incomplete, and in many places flat-out wrong on game design. If you have a specific criticism, please explain. A vague explanation like "it would be annoying" doesn't help anyone. Lots of things in Minecraft are annoying. When you can tell me the line between annoying and challenging (which that article doesn't even try to do), I'll consider your argument.
Well that much I agree with you on. It is better to be blunt. I've always been blunt, and I post my suggestions for a reason, because I think they're good. If the majority of posters can't articulate their objections, that's okay. I'm here to help and educate.
Well, this is going nowhere.
You are suggesting a block that's unbreakable in every way possible, and must be pushed with a piston to transport it. Those "strong willed enough" would bring it to their base as a anti-grief barrier.
Do you not see the seemingly obvious problems? You say you're fine with blunt people and even encourage it, yet call those that bluntly stated their disapproval stubborn while respecting those that didn't. You're feeding the fire.
Nothing good will come out of this, and this suggestion will not be brought to life just because you think it's unique and clever while others don't. Call me back when Minecraft gets an update filled with tanks and airstrikes along with your Pistonium.
This is a better suggestion than 90% of the suggestions on the first two pages.
I agree with this to be honest. Not only that, I'd say this is 100% better than any other suggestion on here, but only if the whole "pistonium ore" thing was removed, then the idea would be perfect.
Unless you felt like pistoning the pistonium back to your base, but apparently that's too much work for you.
When you make threads about not being able to sleep in armor and taming enderdragons with horses, I think it might be game over from there. You compromised yourself and from the looks of the things, you're probably bribing mods too.
So the mere the fact that this is unique automatically makes this "better than 90% of suggestions here"? I didn't know logic worked like that. Helicopters are not a new idea around here. You should know that. But yes, I don't think it's hard to make a suggestion that's in the top 10%. Tell me, are you in love with every suggestion on the front page?
Actually, it doesn't, because no one's gonna be dumb enough to spend hours moving this horrible ore to shape a house.
It would be awesome if someone made a house out of it. But that's the extreme end of things. Minecraft is a game that has very small things of beauty too. It wouldn't be that hard for someone to make a special door out of pistonium. Or just if you happen to make your base near a naturally occuring deposit, you can make use of the landscape.
Instead of trying to shoot every idea down, why not try and imagine what you could do with it? I thought Minecraft was a game about using the imagination.

It's inarguable that it's unique and clever. Tell me how it's not unique. Tell me how it's not clever.
Is it unbalanced? Now at least we're having a conversation. Too hard to get? You have a point there, but I still disagree, and I think it's just fine if it's hard to get. You have a rebuttal? Another point to make? Bring it on with all bluntness!

Truly, it is obvious this block is unique. Clever? No. You claim this does not emulate other games. However, Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to create a world, not pushing blocks. Try telling me how this does not copy games where you can only push blocks, my friend.
Bedrock exists so people would not accidently fall out of the world, hence its undestructible properties. End Portal Frames exist so people can go to The End by means of a specialized non-craftable portal located in a specific location, hence its indestructible properties. Command Blocks exist to allow creativity for mapmakers, hence its indestructibile properties. Please tell us how Pistonium, a random ore that spawns in a specific biome, deserves this property. Why not simply have Bedrock randomly spawn underground or in hills then? Undestructible blocks are not meant to be movable, destroyable, and definitely not buildable with in survival. This would DEFEAT the purpose of 'indestructible'.
Also, enough unsupport had been given. Please try not to answer to this post anymore unless you feel yourself capable of making a suggestion that would make this block better.

I... think you just answered your own question. I don't know of a 3-dimensional voxel-based game in which you have a choice between pushing blocks around or destroying or mining blocks. Are you saying you're against pistons altogether?

Because it's interesting and fun to play with. Bedrock isn't fun because it's not meant for playing with. Command blocks aren't fun because you can't play Survival with them. We need a fun, versatile version of an unbreakable block.
Why not simply have Bedrock randomly spawn underground or in hills then? Undestructible blocks are not meant to be movable, destroyable, and definitely not buildable with in survival. This would DEFEAT the purpose of 'indestructible'.
I agree with you. The existing indestructible blocks aren't meant to be movable. That's why there's room for a new indestructable block that can be moved and played with, and had fun with.
Also, enough unsupport had been given. Please try not to answer to this post anymore unless you feel yourself capable of making a suggestion that would make this block better.
"Please tell us how..." and then three lines later, "Please try not to answer." I'm just going to do what I feel like until you can make up your mind what you're going to order me to do.

Rhetorical statement; the answer is obvious.
It's difficult to tell someone not to answer if you don't tell them not to answer.
Why not simply have Bedrock randomly spawn underground or in hills then?
I think you might be getting it. I would love for bedrock to spawn randomly underground and in hills. Except there is one tiny problem of not being able to move it, in case you wanted to build a nice big cave or something. Hmm, let's think. I wonder what sort of block I could suggest to make this workable...?

I really regret posting on these threads seeing as you are obviously just in this for the kick of getting people like me aggravated, but I digress.
The main reason I completely dislike this idea is because it does not provide anything useful at all. My main complaint was not that it poses a great wall of dullness through the time it takes to build something out of it, that would be my reason why nobody will use it. No, my main complaint is those poor builders making houses underground running into these lumps of Trollium and crying blood as they have to move these things out of the way before they can even begin the process of excavating their underground-structure. I can tell already that such an ore would have easily doubled the time required for some of my builds should this have been implemented previously.
And that "Greifers wouldn't be prepared" is pure bull. Anyone loose with a brain and a wish to destroy would of course make room in their inventory for the one piston needed to annihilate someones HOURS of work by moving the ores and burying them underground or something.
As soon as this would have been released both griefers and builders will know of its existence, but we will notice two different courses of actions following the info:
Builders would just realize that it is not worth the time to gather enough of it to make anything interesting ut of it, thus neglecting its existence. Those willing to use it would soon realize that bringing a piston and scramble the blocks all over your yard is not even half the work required to both bring and form this material into even the most basic form of wall.
Griefers would run to the nearest caves and start pushing. They would make AFateWorseThanDeath-traps all over the place and cover people's homes in these abominable blocks, requiring the builders to remove them. Because griefers can be considered anti-builders, and as such they are equipped with at least as much patience as a normal builder, and would probably have more motivation to bother using it than the builders themselves as it has proportionally more destructive uses than creative ones.
Your reasoning for implementing this - to ease the job for grief-protection, only works until you take the griefing RESULTING from the implementation of this into consideration.

Its one thing to trap someone in obsidian, but eventually they can smash their way out with their hands. Griefing to the max, however, if you can put this around someone. No escape for them, besides getting someone to sticky piston the blocks back. Same with putting it around chests. Unless you make sticky pistons to pull it off of the chest, its as good as gone. One might say that pistons arnt that hard to make, and indeed, thats true, but these examples of griefing require sticky pistons. Which require slime balls. Best hope you live in a swamp.
Basically, I agree with all of the above.
In other words, unless I make a contraption out of pistonium guarding my chest in creative and then switching back to survival, which is pointless as you would probally be doing this in single player and therefore don't need to be protecting from griefers, no support.
Pistoning an ore out of a cave is plain boring to do. It's not a challenge, it's just pushing for a long time to get to your house. It should be breakable or there is hardly any point to it.
So much negative comments since I last left off... Sorry, but making this suggestion then quarreling with other members about how this is an "excellent" idea is not a pretty sight.
I really regret posting on these threads seeing as you are obviously just in this for the kick of getting people like me aggravated, but I digress.

Apparently you think this is a bad thing. I don't understand your reasoning here. If you like to build without any challenges, why don't you just use Creative mode? My whole point is to create a new obstacle, something interesting to build around or think around.
And that "Greifers wouldn't be prepared" is pure bull. Anyone loose with a brain and a wish to destroy would of course make room in their inventory for the one piston needed to annihilate someones HOURS of work by moving the ores and burying them underground or something.
You know what, griefers are never at the top of my list when I try to think of cool new blocks. But I realize that a lot of people are concerned by griefers, so I try to allay their fears by explaining exactly how a proposed block could be used and countered. And for some reason people take this as "he just made a block to support griefing!"
As soon as this would have been released both griefers and builders will know of its existence, but we will notice two different courses of actions following the info:

Obviously every player is different, and maybe someone out there will do some epic griefing. My point has always been that it's probably not going to be worth a griefer's time if they have to spend more time getting the blocks to the griefee's house than it will take for the griefee to remove them.
Your reasoning for implementing this - to ease the job for grief-protection, only works until you take the griefing RESULTING from the implementation of this into consideration.
Okay, let's say for a moment I proposed this block solely for the lulz. I guess I failed, because pistonium is harder to grief with than it is to remove said griefing.
I rest my case.
An admirable attempt, but nevertheless you have failed to make your case. I don't blame you, because you haven't had time to play with the pistonium or think it through, but your main weakness is your assumption of what griefers are willing and able to do, for a grief job that will be extremely easy to clean up.
