This suggestion makes a more "firey" nether. The first block is molten netherrack. Sort of like mossy cobblestone for netherrack except with lava. It resembles netherrack with lava tracts going through it. It is found dotted around the nether in clumps. On its own it just makes sparse smoke particles and have a little chance of doing a heart or two of damage. But when there is a lava block under it, it will make a jet fire particles every 25-800 ticks and do almost lava damage to you. When a ghast fireball hits netherrack it turns to molten netherack. If it is not near lava it will slowly turn to normal netherack. Molten netherrack needs silk touch to be mined.
Just throwing this out there, but maybe instead of ghasts blowing up netherrack and setting it on fire, it would turn netherrack to molten netherrack? Like the fireball superheated it or something.
"Colder than the snow that blankets the earth" "Colder than the ice that cover the stones and freezes the rivers" "Colder than the north wind blowing through a winter-bound forest" "Colder than all these is the smile of a Shade of the Dark"

It should do that, but it would still explode and only some of the netherrack would turn into molten netherrack.

That's actually kind of awesome.

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes; after that who cares? He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!

Possibly they would generate in clusters, in order to make the Nether more hazardous and encourage caution.
Otherwise I'm on the fence with this suggestion.

Are you planning to make suggestion? check the search bar first.
How about if a Molten Netherrack isn't near lava, it would "cool down" after a period of time so that you wouldn't be basically walking on solid lava after a Ghast attack.

Could Molten Netherrack be converted from regular netherack when near lava over time, and converts back into regular netherack in the absence of lava? Instead of spawning naturally, I mean.
Recommendation: Get rid of the "fire jets" part of the title, because when other people read it, they might imagine some sort of fire jet pack thingy that's too OP and not like Minecraft at all, when in fact this is a nice suggestion. Anyways, support.
by the way nice Avatar picture hehehehehehe

An alternate timeline emerges.
However, we must first start from the beginning...
"Colder than the ice that cover the stones and freezes the rivers"
"Colder than the north wind blowing through a winter-bound forest"
"Colder than all these is the smile of a Shade of the Dark"
I thought it would be better than a landscape full of craters burning with napalm fires.
"Colder than the ice that cover the stones and freezes the rivers"
"Colder than the north wind blowing through a winter-bound forest"
"Colder than all these is the smile of a Shade of the Dark"
Also, here is an awesome suggestion I had: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1745550-biome-effects/
We wouldn't need to mine it with silk touch if we could turn netherrack molten by shooting a firecharge at it.

lol/Rant/Whatever of the…!: Beyond: Two Souls is a sad/depressing game. Not like the ending of Mother 3 isn’t more sad.
