What with the advent of snow, wouldn't it be cool if walking on it removed the snow from the block for at least a short time? You'd have a small trail behind you. It could work for other creatures too, so you could track them. It'd also be an interesting tool in SMP.
Couple other ideas I like are punching snow to get snow cubes that you can make blocks out of. Also, grass shouldn't even grow under trees (but maybe in a dome with plenty of sun).
I got that. It'd still be a trail you could follow, and I don't think it'd look bad. I would imagine the snow coming up like Redstone wires used to when walked on.
The first time I ran through snow I expected to turn around and to see a trail behind me. I would kind of prefer to just have the snow tile disappear for a while, but foot prints would be fine too.
And I don't feel like making a new topic for this and its related so... Snowballs!!! And less important, Igloos!
The whole snow chunk on the block could just go completely flat so that the snow is still there, but is shorter than the untouched blocks. Although, it would look more like a tank's been driving around rather than a person.

Great idea.
I also like the footprints idea + having prints for different creatures, but that's probably a bit too complex.
Footprints would be awesome. Removing snow would just look weird. You don't leave a trail of grass behind you when you walk through snow, you leave footprints.

Of course they wouldn't last forever.
